Raging Heroes - Alternative Sisters of Battle part 2 (Picture Heavy)

Hi All,

To follow up on my last post about my potential Sisters of Battle/Inquisitor/Necromunda force using models from Raging Heroes. Below are pictures of the models as requested. I will be starting the build of these in the new year.
The casts are really nice, and the detail is crisp. These models are 'mono pose' however the poses look individual.
The 'characters' have a load of details.
My only question looking at the models is how would I justify a 3+ armour save, when they aren't wearing any!?

Raging Heroes - Alternative Sisters of Battle

Hi One and All,

I took delivery this morning of an order I place with Raging Heroes..
I've previously ordered from them and the models are excellent quality, the plan with these at the moment is unknown.. Initially I thought Necromunda, then maybe some form of sisters of battle...
Also picked up the 'monster hunters set- which will be used a an Inquisitor and retinue!

Landspeeder Size Comparison - circa 1997 and Modern

Hi All, following on from Monday's post, I took some pictures of the 1997 version and a Modern kit, there really is a significant size difference! So a quick post whilst I get down the shops for some last minute Crimbo shopping ;)
Front on - the pilot is significantly more armoured in the new version.
Side on - significant size increase but interestingly the crew are quite exposed in both versions.
I think from the top is where the size difference is most noticeable, the newer version looks more comfortable to drive ;)

Thanks for dropping by, Cheers, Siph. And have a great Christmas if that's your thing.

Relictors Space Marine Landspeeder Tornado - circa 1997

Hi All, thanks for popping in and having a look-see. Here is my latest offering from the To-Do pile! This gem was in the massive job lot of classic miniatures I managed to pick up at a bargain and can be seen (HERE).
This was the re-released 2nd Edition Landspeeder, re-released in 1997 for the Ravenwing, hence the bonnet statue. The original had a Multi-Melta by the gunner.
I added a modern Shoulder Pauldron and arm, but all the original bits were present so I stripped and re-painted to match my Relictors - I actually didn't have a Tornado so when I saw this in the pile, I was sure I had to keep it and paint it myself rather than put to the auction block.
This thing weighs a ton but is smaller than the modern speeder, if anyone wants a size comparison I'm sure I can go and photograph one ;)
I cut down one of my spare flying bases stem and made a snug fit into the under slung slot. It seems solid so glad it can match the other Landspeeders.  I added the numeral five on the fin to match the others, which are numbered I-IV and assault markings on the Marines shoulder pauldrons.
A rear shot... The other Landspeeders can be found HERE or in the sidebar.
There you go, I hope you like it, I am quite pleased how it turned out. I glued it together with plenty of two-part epoxy resin so it shouldn't fall apart even if dropped! Thanks for dropping by,

Cheers, Siph.

40K WIP Constructions

Hi All,

I've had a week away from the Reaver, and decided to do a little construction on a few new projects.

Fateweaver.
I've got a version of the original Fateweaver- but I feel the model is too small in comparison to current models, thus I needed to upgrade it- the model was straightforward to construct, I've left the details off prior to undercoating/painting. I am planning to add some detail to the base also.
Inquisitor Greyfax, again the build was simple enough- I did manage to take a small chip out of her hat- this will be covered with an addition of a purity seal.
Warlord head, this was built to be a 'objective' for a titan force.. as it would make sense that they'd fight for something like this rather than a few lasguns..
Thanks for looking- sorry its a short one this week- work gets in the way sometimes!

Mechanicum Ursarax Shock Troops

Welcome All, thanks for dropping by. Today I want to show off my latest addition to the Mechanicum forces, the very last of my Mechanicum units from the to-do pile, awaiting the release of Fires Of Cryaxis so I can merge them with my Ad Mech 40K forces!
According to FW, the Ursarax were developed as a heavy, rapid-moving close combat unit. They use a fusion of existing technologies sacred to the Mechanicum, they are formidable, even monstrous, killing engines.
Like the Thallax, Ursarax are thralls rather than servitors. Selected from suitable human candidates for conversion, their living components retain a consciousness and dim recollection of their former humanity, providing them with superior tactical abilities and the instincts to kill.
Each Ursarax’s frame is outfitted with a powerful, chest mounted Volkite Incinerator - a weapon deadly at range, but decidedly lethal in close combat – I envisage the Ursarax leaping at its enemy, grabbing them and forcing them at close range into the chest area before detonating a volley at point blank, before tearing through the enemy ranks with pairs of armour crushing power fists or flesh shredding lightning claws.
I armed the first two with Powerfists and the third with Lightning Claws, I'll aim to get more Ursarax to bolster the numbers and more Claws as they look great, the Powerfists for more hardened targets. You can see the Gamers Grass tufts on these bases along with my usual coloured patches of flock.
The scheme matches the rest of my Mechanicum units, and was quite easy to reproduce, a drybrush Leadbelcher over Chaos Black and armour painted in Khorne Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet. The fists were Catachan Green. I used Stormhost Silver and Soulstone Blue for the upper arm extensions to add interest.

Hope you like my additions. I plan on doing a review of my Hobby Goal post and see what I managed to paint this year. I did okay I reckon. Thanks for dropping by, Cheers Siph.

Legio Crucius Reaver Titan - WIP #20 - Lasers?

Hi One and all,

Its been a slow week on the Reaver build, as my attention was taken to how to build an additional carapace weapon.

I took delivery of a Twin Turbo Laser Destructor, and started looking at options to mount it, and which way. The easiest solution would have been to flip the lasers over, and use the arm mount into the carapace- however the sights and marks would be upside down. I've opted to have it the correct way round, but this had 2 problems.

The hole and how to mount it.
For the hole I used a 28mm base which fits nicely in the void. I will then use on of the mechanicus seals over this so it doesn't look out of place.
The mount, surprising I found the perfect option- the gun sits really well on the mount for the rocket launcher, so my plan is to pin and magnetise both weapons so that have I both options. This would also be the solution if I get a plasma weapon for the reaver as an option.

I'm really happy with the look of the weapon- it looks right on the Reaver- I just need some good weather to spray it..

Cheers LH
