Relictors Space Marine Chapter - Castraferrum Ironclad Dreadnought #15

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. I am scheduling these posts again as I return overseas. This is the eighth of many Dreadnought reinforcements I bought from Goddenzilla at Kaiju Country blog. An Ironclad Castraferrum Dreadnought.

The scheme from Goddenzilla has been adapted to my own, the golds repainted, overall brightened up, and some optics re-coloured. This one is also joining my 4th Company as the 5th have plenty! 

The Dreadnought Siege Chainfist sports the new Relictors decals.

I repainted the base to match my own scheme and some tufts were added.

This one was extensively re-painted to a lighter grey to match my forces, and the details touched up. Here is Goddenzilla's original Dreadnought, also Relictors scheme.

DreadTober 2018 - Relictors Castraferrum MKIV Ironclad Dreadnought #7 - Complete

Hello All, and fellow DreadTober-teers, thanks for dropping in. I finished this year's pledge a week early, even with a Titan battle distraction, once back from that I concentrated on this and got it finished.

I painted the Seismic Hammer pistons shiny and chrome to indicate the moving parts whilst I envisage the head being made from Auramite like Custodes armour, harder than Ceramite and Plasteel, and the Aquila shape meant gold was a good colour.

The stand out here is the two optional Hunter Killer missiles, unlike the GW plastic kit, these are not in launch tubes atop the sarcophagus so next to his Brother Ironclad he lacks stature. But the Flak Launchers are on top so give him height above normal Dreadnoughts.

I am pleased with the Power Claw, a simple blend and Nuln Oil wash towards the rear gives great graduation. I also attached the plastic heavy flamer where the Storm Bolter was as when I first took the kit out of the bag, the two Heavy Flamer nozzles got caught in the folds so I didn't see them! Doh... never mind, its a cool addition. This Dreadnought is for the 4th Company, hence the '4' on a green field, 4th Co. colours in the Codex Astartes.

The base was my usual Mournfang Brown, Karak Stone drybrush and Ushabti Bone light drybrush with dyed flock patches and some GW Middenheim Tufts.

Finally, a comparison shot with his Brother Ironclad of the 5th Co. who has a larger physical presence, but lacks the high tech curves and elaborate armaments of the more compact MKIV class. I like both, equally sturdy and powerful.

For the final week of DreadTober I will just post a nice thematic picture of all three of the last year's DreadTober efforts, my plastic Contemptor, Deredeo and Ironclad - that will round off this year's efforts nicely.

DreadTober 2018 - Relictors Ironclad Dreadnought - End of Week 2

Hi, thanks for dropping in and hello fellow DreadTober-teers, a small amount of progress was made despite me being busy this week with preparations for the Titan Owners Club (FB) Walk UK massive titan battle at the weekend. But now back and concentrating back on the smaller scale Dreadnought!

I managed to finish the claw arm, the green denotes 4th Company and will be dulled down when Matt sprayed, at the moment the 'Ard Coat varnish used to seal the transfer shows. I undercoated the Hunter Killer missiles and finished the head and smoke launchers. As you can see I basecoated and washed the Sarcophagus and mounted it on the stumpy legs - details and highlights yet to do.

The finished arm, rather pleased with the power claws subtle fade to dark using Nuln Oil over Kantor Blue and the lenses, I'll 'Ard Coat the lenses afterwards.

I also 'heat-stained' the Melta Gun, slightly richer irl, but basically silver-black-blue-purple-sepia using washes only, a simple effective tip for realism and interest.

Progressing well enough, no more Titan distractions will mean I can hopefuly get the majority done ths week coming. Cheers, Siph.

DreadTober 2018 - Relictors MKIV Ironclad Dreadnought - Week 1 Progress

Hello all and a special hello to fellow DreadTober-teers! So, end of week 1 and some progress has been made I am pleased to say. The ol' bag of resin was trimmed, washed and undercoated. Feel free to check out the DreadTober blog by clicking on the DreadTober 2018 picture in the sidebar >>>>

Here is where I got up to, I started to drybrush the metallics in first as this was messy, next will come the clean up. But opposite to my normal progression, I thought I'd start from the feet up...

The feet were glued in the correct position and angle to show the Dreadnought marching forward, then the glue and sand was applied, 24hrs drying, second sealing coat applied and another 24hrs then painting could start. I did the feet first, then the base so any over painting the mud can stay as dirt and sand build up. I chose a transfer from the FW Space Marine Sheet, denoting Assault - as this Ironclad is built for smashing fortifications and close range.

I added a few tufts from Gamers Grass and GW Middenland Tufts and some of my usual dyed flock. I embellished the gold details for interest and that's about it so far...

Here he is with his older Brother Ironclad "Mortis", a plastic GW Dreadnought, the feet and legs on the MKIV do look tiny, but once the sarcophagus is fitted the presence starts to grow.

Dreadtober 2018 - Starts Here - Forgeworld Ironclad MKIV Dreadnought

Hello Dreadtober-teers! My favourite hobby event of the calendar year is back again for another installment, feel free to click on the sidebar picture for a link to the main Dreadtober site, this year being run by Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) so a massive thanks to those two chaps for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B for his contributions too.

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct and hopefully completing 31st Oct with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :)

So on with what I will be participating with this year, a long time languishing in the to-do pile, a Forge World MKIV Space Marine Ironclad Dreadnought, armed with Seismic Hammer and Dreadnought CCW for the 'Wrecker' ability (re-rolls of 1's to Hit in CC), secondary weapons will be Heavy Flamer and Melta Gun and a few Ironclad Assault Launchers (D3 Mortal Wounds on successful Charge) and two Hunter Killer Missiles... so quite a beast, if now overshadowed by the nu-Primaris Redemptor Dreadnoughts...  but I have over 10K points of Relictors so I contunue with my 'now-squat' old-Marines!

Weemen at Gamesday - in the meantime, Relictors Dreadnought Armoury

The Weemen are at Gamesday UK 2012 at the Birmingham NEC today. We will be driving up early this morning to bag some of the great new Horus Heresy FW goodies and having a right ol' Geekfest.  Since we won't be able to post until we get back, in the meantime please accept this filler...Siph finished one more of his (my) many Forgeworld purchases, namely the latest Chaplain Dreadnought, I thought I'd show you all the Dreads to date. I've still a MKIV Ironclad from FW to do plus whatever I buy today (Fellblade anyone??)...

Relictors Space Marine Castraferrum Dreadnought #5 - Ironclad

 Hi All, this is the latest addition to the Relictors Army. I needed an Ironclad for BlogWars3, so I needed to paint this beauty that had been in the cupboard of bare plastic for over six months! What is not to like about AV13 and all that CC goodness? Plus with Vulkan Hestan, his Melta Gun and Heavy Flamer are Twin-Linked. Plus 2 Hunter Killer Missiles for some ranged Anti-Tank (and he arrives in a Drop Pod). Nice.

I have added Armoured Plates to the knees to reflect the AV13 front armour, think they were from an IG vehicle, perhaps a Manticore/Chimera, as well as a shoulder mounted shield to bulk him out a little - it was taken from a SM Champion Combat Shield. The little decorative plate protecting his 'man-bits' is from a Venerable Dreadnought kit.

 As you can see I added an armoured plate to the back to protect the rear of the engine block, again to reflect his Ironclad status.

And here is a shot of some of the growing Relictor Dreadnought Armoury, not including my two Riflemen... still have a Forgeworld MKIV Ironclad, a Relic Mortis Contemptor and a Chaplain Dread to do... always more, never finished!!

Ultramarines- WIP

Just a quick Ultramarine update of some of my current ultramarine WIP.

Land Raider Achilles- first up is the Achilles land raider- an unstoppable beast of a tank, which in the battles including an Achilles has never been destroyed.

Dreadnoughts- several dreadnought projects, including a 'mortis' style Contemptor- the Kheres Assault cannons are lethal, having destroyed a Land Raider on the Contemptor's debut.

Captains- the captains from the chapter master set- I've changed the heads on all of the models, as the original heads I felt were too 'long in the neck'

Project 1- A purchase off eBay- Captain Invictus- This will be my second version of the model, having previously modelled Invictus on the old Terminator Captain body

Ultramarine Dreadnoughts WIP

Hi All!

Just a quick update on my (almost) finished dreadnoughts. I've had these guys waiting for some TLC for a while. There are 6 finished dreadnoughts (2 still to be finished)
The first is a FW chaplain dreadnought, armed with a Multi-Melta, power fist combo. I opted for a plastic Power Fist with a flamer. I prefer the larger plastic power fist to the FW one, I really like the positioning of the model, with the gun lowered-as if he is surveying for the next target. The power fist gives a sense of size and power to the model. The model did suffer a major hit during construction, with the iron halo breaking due to a fall, thus the plan is to use the iron halo off a new venerable dreadnought.The second and third dreadnoughts are box standard plastic ones, one is the dread for assault on black reach box set, the third a heavily armed plastic dreadnought.
The fourth is the original furiso dreadnought. I loved this model when it was released, thus had to have one. I class this dread as an Ironclad armed with two close combat weapons.
The fifth is another Ironclad dreadnought. This dread has a special place in my collect due in part to the annihilation of Siph's warhound at the start of the year. I've Incorporated two 'titan markings from the reaver kit, one a purity seal with a titan legion T motif, and a honour mark. I have built this dread with interchangeable arms, thus all four weapon options are available.The sixth dread is a new venerable dreadnought. Again, all weapon options have been constructed to allow the weapons to be swapped due to the tactical situation.I've also finished a couple of tanks- I'll post these up over the weekend!
