Deathwatch Characters - DONE!

 Hello one and All!

Another week sees further additions to the Deathwatch force.

All three have had a similar base coat, using metallic black as the base, with highlights of Thunderhawk blue applied. Details were picked up with selection of colours to match the force.

Primaris Chaplain

The shoulder pad was painted in the scheme of the Sons of Medusa, due the stock shoulder pad having a similar appearance of the chapter. I love how aggressive the model looks - stridding forward!

Terminator Chaplain

This is one of the limited edition Chaplains that was available a while ago - I have the updated version to build also from a warhammerfest during the lockdown. I've painted the shoulder pad in a Relictors grey style. Again painted to match the force with the over paint of the eyes to try to show them glowing.

Terminator Librarian

This is another limited edition model - being the 'fest model from another lockdown year (they all rolled into one..) this guy is from the Imperial Fists chapter with a 3D printed shoulder pad.

Thanks for swinging by! LH (30pts)

Relictors Chapter Space Marines - Primaris Librarian

Hi all, thanks for dropping by, a small addition to the ever growing Relictors Chapter Space Marines, not only do I have an extensive (!) 5th Company, a growing 4th Company, a huge armoury and 1st Company Veterans... I also expanded into Primaris reinforcements.
This was a very decent eBay lot, then adapted from Ultramarines to my Relictors with the subtle changing of shoulder pauldrons to a black field and my skull decal. Rebased to match my existing forces.
Other than that, I contrast painted the Force Sword with some Magos Purple, love the effect that gives, added some Skeleton Horde to parchment and shaded recesses of cloak and done. A nice easy addition to the force and no delay, I'm busy with AT Titan at the moment but never like leaving my Relictors without some attention.
Here he is next to the other eBay purchase adapted to fit also, a nice contrasting pair, the Primaris Librarian looks positively ostentatious next to the muted Phobos Librarian, exactly as they should be. It's only right the Chapter reinforcements have Librarians to watch over the flock - those pesky Relictors get up to some shady stuff and need the psychic protection of Librarians!

Cheers, Siph.

Relictors Primaris Marines - Phobos Librarian

Hello All, thanks for dropping in to see my latest addition to the ever expanding Relictors Space Marine Battle Company. Not all my own work, saw this as a bargain on eBay and thought I could adapt it with a little work to become a Relictor Phobos Librarian.
I repainted the backpack and the shoulder Pauldrons, did the base and the leather belts and holster. Plus the gold work and contrast painted over the Force Sword to give my characteristic purple Force Weapon colour.
Tidied up the scrolls and the keys, so basically kept the cloak and the under armour so 90% of mini is as I bought, I just re-did all the detailing to suit me.
I cut away a decal to fit the shoulder Pauldron, showing my Relictors Chapter badge.
The psychic blue OSL was there already, the main thing which attracted me to the purchase - and an hours work I was done with a new addition to the force. My fledgling Primaris reinforcements continue to grow...

Cheers, Siph.

Relictors Librarian in Power Armour #9 and Librarius Conclave

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. The latest in a line of Librarian Psykers, No.9 for the Battle Company if you include Tigurius and the RT-era 4th Company Librarian... I think my Librarius Conclave is now complete (with the exception of newer Battle Brothers who cross the Primaris Rubicon...)
I added a variant of the Command Skull as the Relictor Chapter badge, seemed fitting to have a red halo coming from the skull cranium! I also chose yellow as an accent colour on the tabbard, a throw back to the Insignium Astartes uniforms book states all Librarians wear Blue Armour and Yellow Tabbards.
The shoulder Pauldrons are in Relictors Chapter colours, and the scrollwork was picked out in Skeleton Horde contrast.
The haft of the Force Stave was again picked out with Magos Purple contrast over an Ulthuan Grey base. Simple and effective looking, love it... I'm tempted to go back and repaint the Force Weapons elsewhere to match...
I was rather pleased with the face and beard, Ratskin Flesh, Kislev Flesh, washed Reikland Flesh, highlighted Kislev Flesh and eyes picked out in a psychic blue clear paint (FW Calth Blue) over Ulthuan Grey. The beard is simply the same armour colours, Dawnstone, Administratum Grey washed Nuln Oil.
And a shot of the Conclave so far... roll on Primaris Psykers...

Relictors Space Marines - Librarian on Bike

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. This week's addition to my ever growing Battle Company (+PLUS) is a firstborn / old school / old-marine Librarian on a Space Marine Bike, a Index option soon to be Legends option only I guess, but I had it in the to-do pile for several years! Must finish Bikes before I do the Indomitus Primaris Bikes!
The base kit was a Ravenwing AOBR bike with the rider torso removed, different handlebars and shaved front fender icons - I added a 3rd Party Librarian torso and Power Stave and converted the backpack with a resin book and bit of chain.
The Ravenwing bikes are quite suitable for all my Characters and Sergeants, to make them different from the rank and file, feathers were Hawk Turquoise washed Nuln. The leather is Mournfang Brown, washed Nuln and highlighted Balor Brown.
I added Assault Markings though strictly not true, he is an HQ option, but I see it as a Vanguard Detachment, therefore fast attack options. The slate is a resin base, so Chaos Black drybrushed Eshin Grey and Dawnstone then coated with Contrast Shylish Purple and some Magos Purple, then drybrushed my usual base colours to blend in with Karak Stone and Ushabti Bone. The greys allow the purple to show over the blacks.
The Headlight was a new method I was trying and quite like! Just Ulthuan Grey base with a thin coat of FW Clear Calth Blue Airbrush Paint brushed on and allowed to rest in the recesses, a nice effect. I also did the same for his warp-manifesting eyes!

Anyway, another cool character and finally off the to-do Pile! Cheers, Siph (10pts)

Relictors Space Marine Terminator Librarian - Lexicanum Varus

Hello All, this was a GW made-to-order miniature I was lucky enough to receive in the first wave I believe. I know some people were still waiting for theirs. And following on from my two RT era Librarians, I am expanding the Relictors Librarius Conclave to match more along the lines of the background - Relictors have a lot of Librarians.
The blue is the same as my Titans and Necrons... Kantor Blue with a fine highlight of Sotek Green, I left the shoulder pauldrons black to match the Relictors. The gun casing was also picked out in bone to match my Relictors Battle Company colours.
The haft of the Force Stave was a quick and effective coat of Magos Purple over Ulthuan Grey, like the RT era Librarian Force Sword. It is a cool and simple trick. The two LEDs on the rear of the waist mirror those on the backpack of every marine behind the head - perhaps power output lights? Or laser optic communications? No idea, but it links my Terminators to their smaller less armoured brethern...
I picked out a suitable Chapter badge skull, slightly smaller to fit the pad and is usually a campaign badge - but I have used it for my Scout Squads before, and the yellow circle can signify the traditional blue armour and yellow surplices of Librarians as detailed in Insignium Astartes.
And if you hadn't noticed, I did a head swap, shaving down a standard Terminator Helmet to fit the hood, it doesn't make sense to don the best and rarest armour humanity has to offer and not wear a bullet proof helmet!

Relictors Chapter Rogue Trader Era Librarians

Hello All, thanks for dropping by. This week's painting offerings come in the form of a couple of Rogue Trader Librarians I purchased back in 7th with the intention of making a Librarius Conclave Formation - however with the passage of 8th and now 9th, the Formations nonsense has dissipated and I'm pleased I no longer face Skyhammer Annihilation Forces!
From the job lot of Sternguard Veterans I bought, I had a spare number of resin books for the backpacks, ideal for Librarians! I love the pose of both these Rogue Trader sculpts and its good to see the design cues of Power Weapons and Aegis Hoods back in the day. I added an oversized Terminator pad to the left pauldron to give a more gladiatorial look, and bulk out the smaller figure a little.
Here you can see the near comical oversized pad, love it! The mini also got a modern power pack and a 32mm base so he can sit comfortably alongside the later sculpts.
I painted the blade with Contrast Shyish Purples and highlighted the lightning with a little Magos Flesh and Ulthuan Grey. I love his snub nose, whats like a proto-MKVII helmet.
The second Rogue Trader Librarian has a more standard MKVI Corvus 'Beakie' helmet and I painted the Force Sword with a coat of Magos Purple Contrast over a Ulthuan Grey basecoat giving an awesome mirrored blade look!
This Librarian received one of the spare Veterans Power Packs with the flaming braziers, looks cool on a character model. I painted his pauldron Relictors colors and also his right kneepad in 4th Company colours - he will lead my 4th Company Command Squad - in the background, Relictors Chapter has quite a few Librarians in their Command Structure, owning to the fact that they try to use and understand Chaos to fight Chaos - using Daemon Weapons and other such relics - the reasons they were until the Indomitus Crusade deemed Excommunicate Traitorous. Well that's my take on their fluff. (You can read the Fluff HERE).
I love the effect the Contrast had on the blade, akin to wet blending but achieved in seconds. The bone and parchment has also been given a coat of Skeleton Horde Contrast too.
There you have it, two old school fine additions to the Relictors Battle Companies, and addressing the lack of Librarians I have, now 5 plus Tigurius. I have a Bike Librarian, and another Power Armour and Terminator Armour Librarian to complete their Conclave - before I start adding Primaris Brother Librarians...

Cheers all, thanks for reading this far. Siph (20pts)

Re-basing Characters to 32mm Bases from 25mm - TTAdapters

Hi All, cracking on with Squaduary this month, will be posting progress later in the week so in the meantime just some housekeeping on the side, HBS (Hobby Butterfly Syndrome) hits again, and I need to clear some of my niggly to-do pile. So, I re-based some of my SM Characters, deservedly so, if there was any character that needed a bigger base it was the Chaplain with Jump Pack, a top heavy metal sculpt!
Three more here, love the Chaplain pose above and the Librarian with Jump Pack I think looks awesome. I re-based the Captain ages ago, a true Relictor hero with a Daemon Weapon fighting Chaos with Chaos - the other two keeping a close eye on him ;)

Only another 120 Marines to re-base... I wrote a quick tutorial HERE and the adapters are available HERE if you fancy them. Cheers, Siph. (and 1 pt for re-basing these Characters)

Relictors Space Marine Librarian with Jump Pack

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. Here is some pics of my latest addition to the Relictors Battle Company, you didn't think I'd forgotten them and moved on to Necrons only, did you? ;)
Ever since I saw the Blood Angel Sanguinary Guard with their winged Jump Packs I knew I had to include one of them somewhere... well an ideal use I reckon is on an HQ Character, and since the Relictors have more than the average share of Librarians, I thought I'd address both and do another Librarian.
The feathers are painted with Dheneb Stone then washed with Asurmen Blue, drybrushed again with the Dheneb Stone followed by a light wash of Skull White to lighten the tips, but not to obscure the wash totally, giving I think, a more feathered look - maybe as the Relictors use Daemon Weapons in the fight against Chaos, these are not a mere mechanical jump-pack, but instead a chaos manifestation of real wings...
The main armour blue is Regal Blue with a highlight of Enchanted Blue which would work well for Crimson Fists too! The leather is Calthan Brown followed by a Nuln Oil wash and a highlight of Snakebite Leather. The sash is Dheneb Stone with a Kommando Khaki in the recesses and a Devlan Mud Wash and Dheneb Stone highlight. The Purity Seals are washed with Gryphonne Sepia instead.  My golds are a simple recipe of Brazen Brass, Wash with Devlan Mud, Brazen Brass again, Shining Gold and a drybrush highlight of Mithril Silver.
I particularly like the axe, these colours could double as an Ice Weapon for Space Wolves too. It was a blend of Enchanted Blue, Asurmen Blue wash in recesses, highlight of Hawk Turquoise, Lothern Blue and edge highlight Skink Blue, but a kinda wet blend throughout so apply while the Asurmen Blue Wash was not 100% dried - made it all blotchy.
Here's a shot of him on the table.
And finally with the other Relictors Librarians so far.

Relictors Daemonology - Summoning Something Rotten

When I started this Blog in 2008, it was and still is a showcase of my Relictors for anyone, especially my good friend Lord Halfpenny to see what progress I've been making and him vice versa, and now our good friend 6thDegree too. Whoever else drops by often leads to constructive comments and I check out their blogs for ideas too. I now bring you my latest (and oldest) idea...

Now with the advent of 7th and Daemonology Summoning, my Relictors can further expand within the rules what they specialise in - Using Chaos to Fight Chaos, their fluff can be found here and here. In summary, they are often seen as heretics but they are still loyal to the God Emperor of mankind, but use the tools of Chaos to further their victories over the Dark Powers, they have plentiful Librarians to wield the often hazardous and insidious weapons - some say a dangerous path, others a fickle one, or a necessary one, but to others a step too far, but my Relictors 5th Company have been fighting the good fight since 2008!

Only now, they will be able to field plentiful cheap Librarians, as per their fluff, and use Daemons in their bid to rid the galaxy of the Emperors enemies!
I picked up a number of unusually dark painted Plaguebearers that were painted neatly but plainly - I am now transforming them by re-doing the metallics, pus filled lesions, horns, adding some Nurgle's Rot and Typhus Corrosion with a splash of Blood for the Blood God and of course the bases and here is one I did earlier...
