Relictors Space Marine Chapter - Castraferrum Venerable Dreadnought #21

Thanks for dropping by. This week's addition, another Castraferrum Dreadnought is added to the Relictors Battle Companies, this one is another metal old-school Venerable Dreadnought armed with Plasma Cannon and Dreadnought CCW with Heavy Flamer. My mate Goddenzilla who I purchased it from had converted the front glacis plate to make different from the stock model.
This was supplied with Aegis Defence Line Quad Autocannons but I have two Riflemen Dreads already so befitting of a Venerable Dreadnought I purchased a spare arm and used some bits from the bits box to make a suitable Heavy Flamer and Dreadnought CCW, fingers from a Brutalis Dreadnought, Heavy Flamer from the chest of a Leviathan Dreadnought.
This is now the 14th of many Dreadnought reinforcements I bought from Goddenzilla at Kaiju Country blog. Still 5 more to go, this was the additional Venerable Dreadnought Goddenzilla 'found' in the cupboard. Eventually as they are all updated, they will join my extensive Battle Companies.
Here is the Plasma Cannon spare from the plastic Venerable kit. Now with a suitable chassis.
And the two metal Dreadnoughts side by side, subtle conversions and arm swaps and metallics mean both look the business but not the same.

Cheers, Siph (5pts)

Relictors Space Marine Chapter - Castraferrum Venerable Dreadnought #20

Thanks for dropping by. This week's addition, another Castraferrum Dreadnought is added to the Relictors Battle Companies, this one is a metal old-school Venerable Dreadnought armed with Assault Cannon and Dreadnought CCW with Storm Bolter.
This is now the 13th of many Dreadnought reinforcements I bought from Goddenzilla at Kaiju Country blog. Still 6 more to go as I have been given an additional Venerable Dreadnought Goddenzilla 'found' in the cupboard. Eventually as they are all updated, they will join my extensive Battle Companies. Below you can see the Goddenzilla original scheme.
Goddenzilla slightly converted this one with the addition of a Terminator Head
All the grey panels were repainted and the golds with Retributor Gold, washed with Reikland Fleshshade.
As this is a highly decorated and honoured Venerable, it will remain with 1st Company.
I also re-did the base to match my existing forces

Thanks for dropping by, cheers, Siph (5pts)

Relictors Chapter Space Marine - Castraferrum Venerable Dreadnought #10

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. I am scheduling these posts again as I return overseas. But Dreadtober continues at Dreadtober blog this year, so in light of that I prepared some Dreads. This is the third of many Dreadnought reinforcements I bought from Goddenzilla at Kaiju Country blog. A Venerable Dreadnought, aptly from the 1st Company Relictors as any good Veteran should be but attached to the 5th Company to guide them with Wisdom of the Ancients.
I now have the honour of matching 18 of these to my current Relictors Battle Company, mainly all the Castraferrum types
Here is Goddenzilla's version, and below mine.
As you can see I have redone a fair few panels with a lighter grey, my Codex Grey. I've repainted the gold trim, added decals, repainted the plasma from Green to Blue glow, and various little bits. And matched the base to my own armies.
Don't forget to check out the progress of Dreadtober-teers at this year's Dreadtober!

Cheers, Siph (5pts)

Deathwatch - Rhino and Dreadnought

Hello one and all,

Another week past, another week of working through the 'to do pile' this time, a Rhino and a Dreadnought - which I bought over 15 years ago!

Rhino
This was a spare Rhino I had from the custodes box set, I didn't see the vehicle as the choice for those guys, so I opted to 'paint it black' for the Deathwatch force. This has had a simple black base, Metallic base finish and then line highlights from grey to Thunderhawk Blue then the details have been picked out. For the Deathwatch I am keeping the scheme with red weapons, which will be shown across all units.
Dreadnought
This Forge World Dreadnought was bought years ago when I first got back into the hobby after university (and due to DoW gaming with Siph!). This model had its original Plasma Cannon swapped with another model thus this one was given a twin Heavy Bolter arm. The model has been given an Imperial Fists logo and right arm, I followed the same paint scheme as the other Deathwatch units. On the base there is a back portion of a fallen Dreadnought brother or victim?
Thanks for dropping by! Cheers, Lord Halfpenny. (10pts Rhino and Dreadnought)

Dreadtober 2019 - Completed RT era Dreads "Eddy" and "Fury"

Hello Dreadtober-teers, thanks for dropping by. Here is the fruits of my labours, thanks for the encouragement along the way! So, meet "Eddy" Deredeo Class and "Fury" Furibundus Class Venerable Dreadnoughts.
A big thanks to Joel (Mordian7th) for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40Kfor their contributions over the years. And a huge thanks to all the contributors who make this a great success!
"Eddy" has a STC double shot firing Lascannon (Dual Lascannon) and Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon with Stormbolter. "Fury" has a Missile Launcher and STC Lascannon. I will be playing both of these as Venerable Dreadnoughts, quite fitting for these relics of Rogue Trader era.
As for height wise, here is a comparison between the old metal RT era Dreadnoughts and the modern plastics, the Venerable Dreadnought. I only have friendly games so I am not worried about modelling for advantage using the smaller ones.
And here is a shot of the whole Dreadtober collection so far, from 2016 a modified plastic Contemptor; in the centre a Forge World Deredeo with Autocannons and Missile Launcher and SM casualty on the base; from 2018 a Forge World Mk4 Ironclad and finally the two RT Dreads.

Cheers all, thanks for looking and cheers for your support, Siph.

Weemen at Gamesday - in the meantime, Relictors Dreadnought Armoury

The Weemen are at Gamesday UK 2012 at the Birmingham NEC today. We will be driving up early this morning to bag some of the great new Horus Heresy FW goodies and having a right ol' Geekfest.  Since we won't be able to post until we get back, in the meantime please accept this filler...Siph finished one more of his (my) many Forgeworld purchases, namely the latest Chaplain Dreadnought, I thought I'd show you all the Dreads to date. I've still a MKIV Ironclad from FW to do plus whatever I buy today (Fellblade anyone??)...

Here are the links to the rest of them if you missed them -

Normal haphazard programme will resume on our return, along with some phots if we've remembered a camera!!

Relictors Castraferrum Venerable Dreadnought #2

Progress on my Relictors Battle Company continues albeit not with the remaining troops. After last weekend's Battle with Pornstarjedi's Ultramarines and his long lasting Dreadnoughts i thought it was time I put paint to brush and did my Venerable Dreadnought.
I'm quite pleased how the plasma coil came out. As usual I did all the arm options to keep my choice of weapons to use open. The paint scheme was generally a normal Relictor Dred but with extra "bling" Gold touches throughout.
The spiked halo is the same as the previous dred (see last pic below) but with gold tips. Taken from the Chaos Vehicle Accessories Sprue.
The shoulder and groin numerals reflect his Veteran status being a member of the 1st Company, however he has been seconded to the 5th Company for these operations, hence the large numeral 5 on the opposite shoulder or shin guard.
Lastly a comparison with the previous Dred. I had him out on the painting station the whole time to monitor and mimic painted areas and schemes etc. so they would finish off looking similar but with distinct Venerable differences. I think I achieved a good overall finish and a coherent look.

Ultramarine Dreadnoughts WIP

Hi All!

Just a quick update on my (almost) finished dreadnoughts. I've had these guys waiting for some TLC for a while. There are 6 finished dreadnoughts (2 still to be finished)
The first is a FW chaplain dreadnought, armed with a Multi-Melta, power fist combo. I opted for a plastic Power Fist with a flamer. I prefer the larger plastic power fist to the FW one, I really like the positioning of the model, with the gun lowered-as if he is surveying for the next target. The power fist gives a sense of size and power to the model. The model did suffer a major hit during construction, with the iron halo breaking due to a fall, thus the plan is to use the iron halo off a new venerable dreadnought. The second and third dreadnoughts are box standard plastic ones, one is the dread for assault on black reach box set, the third a heavily armed plastic dreadnought.
The fourth is the original furiso dreadnought. I loved this model when it was released, thus had to have one. I class this dread as an Ironclad armed with two close combat weapons.
The fifth is another Ironclad dreadnought. This dread has a special place in my collect due in part to the annihilation of Siph's warhound at the start of the year. I've Incorporated two 'titan markings from the reaver kit, one a purity seal with a titan legion T motif, and a honour mark. I have built this dread with interchangeable arms, thus all four weapon options are available. The sixth dread is a new venerable dreadnought. Again, all weapon options have been constructed to allow the weapons to be swapped due to the tactical situation.I've also finished a couple of tanks- I'll post these up over the weekend!
