Terrain and Scenery - Aegis Defence Line Terrain Pieces

Back in 2011, I completed one section of the scatter terrain Aegis Defence Line, but soon moved on to other pieces and miniatures, but fear not I've finally done these little terrain pieces to scatter around the battlefield. I don't use an Aegis Defence Line in the game, as hiding behind a line is cowardly ;) so these can be based on my usual 3mm Hardboard (FibreBoard).
This uses a shattered tree from the GW Battlefield Scenery piece, the tree is Khemri Brown, washed with Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Zandri Dust and burnt bits Abaddon Black. The vox caster is from the Imperial Guard Cadian squad.
This piece has a smashed Chaos Bike wheel and as a nod to 6thDegree's Iron Warriors, I painted it to match.
And here is all three on the GameMat surface, looking quite good I reckon. These were quick and simple (once I could be bothered to finish them!!)

More Weemen terrain ideas can be found HERE. Thanks for stopping by.

Iron Warriors – Aegis Defence Line

Here is a mini-project I have been working on for my Iron Warriors (I say mini-project, although its actually a key component of my current army build) – an Aegis Defence Line.
The conversion from Imperial to Chaos was pretty easy to do – using a rectangular scalpel blade, with the edge on the end, I was able to chisel/scrape off the Imperial Aquila's and then stippled on some liquid GS to add some texture back to the surface of the walls.
I then just used bits from the Chaos Vehicle Sprue (that I didn’t use on my latest Rhino), made some sandbags (rolls of GS that are then pressed slightly flat with a tea towel to add texture and cut to the right size) and some barbed wire (from Army Painter I believe), to make them more Chaos-y.

Whilst I am not using the typical Chaos spikes/skulls on my Iron Warriors – I think they fit perfectly on the Aegis.

Aegis Defence Line - Terrain

Finally did some more terrain. Based and undercoated 2 more sections of line too, did a test piece with this set to see if the colour scheme looked okay. I think it does. I used Halfords Car Spray 'Volvo Grey' as a basecoat similar to GW's Charadon Granite. Then a drybrush of Catachan Green. Drybrush of boltgun metal on raised spars and base done the same as all my others. Tutorial here.

A few more to do once I buy another Aegis Defence Line for the quad Autocannon barrels (another rifleman dread coming up!)
