Necron Dynasty - Necron Warriors w/ Gauss Reapers #2

Hello Readers, welcome back to part two of the Indomitus Crusade Necron Warriors armed with Gauss Reapers. I am still away at sea so this is scheduled. These are the second ten of the twenty you get in the box set - I chose to arm them with the shorter range Gauss Reapers.
The Gauss Reapers are higher strength, shorter range and better armour penetration compared to Gauss Flayers, so these will form a larger phalanx of Warriors who close the enemy first and foremost.
I haven't got hold of the latest Codex yet, so hopefully I can still field these as a phalanx of 20 warriors to help mitigate against being wiped out before they can Reanimate Protocols.
Here is the 20 Warriors from Indomitus, all armed with the Gauss Reapers
And finally a shot of all my Warriors, truly are Legion now, 75 Warriors is quite a lot I know, but the OCD part of my brain wants 5 more to make 4 big 20 Warrior Phalanxes...

Necron Dynasty - Necron Warriors w/ Gauss Reapers #1

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. I have finally got around to painting my Indomitus Crusade Necron Warriors. I have plenty of Warriors already, but these are all armed with Necron Flayers as standard. With the 'new' Warriors, you have a choice of Gauss Flayers or Gauss Reapers. I have armed these new Warriors with the shorter range Gauss Reapers.
The Reaper is now a Assault 2, 12in range, Strength 5, -2AP Damage 1 Gauss type weapon. Flayers are Rapid Fire 1, 24in range, Strength 4, -1AP and Damage 1. So these Reapers sacrifice range so will be my furthest up Warrior blobs, short range but higher strength and better armour penetration.
These are the first ten, I have ten more to arm the same and add them all to the 55 Warriors I already have! We are legion!

Necron Dynasty - Necron Warriors - 50-55

Hi all, another five Warriors done, amassing a large phalanx of troops for my Overlord. Just need to pick up another five to round these off to 3x20 blobs. A simple recipe of Army Painter Plate Metal, washed Agrax and Nuln Oil. Chainmail highlights, then the red gauss energy and copper capacitor coils.
No golds or blue for these lowly warriors, I reserve that for the higher ranking troops and HQ.

Well, thats all folks, a simple squad - five more off the to-do pile. Thanks for droping in.

Necron Dynasty - Necron Warriors - 45-50

Hello all, so I posted back in Summer 2017 that I had finished my Necron Warriors now that I had 45 done, I thought that'll be plenty, then 8th dropped and large blobs of Warriors and the Reanimation Protocols made Warriors a solid chice for any Dynasty. So, I purchased a squad of ready made Warriors on eBay and painted to match my existing troops.
Here are Warriors 45-50, nothing special but five more simple automatons to swell my Overlord's ranks. 5 more in the pipeline and then I aim to get a final 5 to make a round 60, so I can field 3x20 blobs - they should be hard enough to shift and reanimation protocols being active every turn regardless of when they fell.

Thanks for dropping by, more Titan progress soon as I aim to get Warlord Dominus Victoria finished for the Titan Owners Club UK Walk in June.

Necron Dynasty - Final 5 Necron Warriors - 40-45

Hi Readers, thanks for dropping by, 5 more from the Battleforce done, now the 5 additional Warriors for the 4th squad, that's 45 done now. no more left, thank goodness - now to move on to more elaborate Infantry such as Praetorians or Lychguard. The intention will be to field three 15man squads, or 3x10man squads and a larger 15man squad - maybe with a Lord with Res Orb to make them hang around longer. Now the 8th rules for RP rely on a larger squad number, I may have to paint some more!
I copied the same scheme for the rest of the Warriors I've done so they blend in seamlessly, makes it easier when choosing my forces for upcoming battles, just pick however many soulless automatons I need... all 45 were used in battle at Warhammer World after Warhammerfest, and they showed their resilience by sticking around in the face of 6500pts of Ultramarines!
The copper capacitor coils are Fulgurite Copper. These are my basic Necrons so they lack any Blue or Gold accents, but the metals are actually more than sprayed! Its Platemetal AP Spray washed with Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Runefang Steel.
Finally, a shot of the whole phalanx of Warriors. I think that might be enough... actually with 8th, I may now have to get more - 20man squads for the juicy RP! Thanks for dropping by, cheers, Siph.

Necron Warriors - 35-40 done, 5 left

Hi Readers, thanks for dropping by, 5 more from the Battleforce done, now the remainder of the 4th squad, that's 40 done now. I only have 5 left to do in the to-do pile, plenty of other Necrons left though.
These ones I took the time to re-pose the heads so they are not looking up in the air or too crouched over. I also posed them so they are actually shooting their Gauss Flayers. I copied the same scheme for the rest of the Warriors I've done so they blend in seamlessly, makes it easier when choosing my forces for upcoming battles, just pick however many soulless automatons I need... perhaps all 40 next battle! We are Legion!
Finally a shot of the whole lot so far, I'll keep going with my To-Do pile pledge before I buy nice new shiny WeeMen. Cheers for reading this far, Siph.

Necron Warriors - more from the To-Do Pile - 30-35

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping in, more progress battling the to-do pile, 5 more Necron Warriors now done, another 10 to do, leftover from a Battle Force boxset. I already did all the Canoptek Scarab bases, seen HERE. And the rest of the existing warriors can be seen HERE.
So I guess these are Necron Warrior Squad 7, but with the latest codex, minimum squad size was increased to 10, so actually these are the beginnings of Squad 4. The copper capacitor coils are Fulgurite Copper, my new favourite metallic colour. These are my basic Necrons so they lack any Blue or Gold accents, but the metals are actually more than sprayed! Its Platemetal AP Spray washed with Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade and highlighted Runefang Steel. Neat, functional and mass produced - just like Necron Warriors should be!
Whilst I was at it, I re-based the Thunderfire Techmarine to a more stable and suitable 32mm base, much better. I am also slowly re-basing the existing Marines to 32mm bases using the TTAdapters I have, a process seen in the tutorial HERE - really easy if you are thinking of it, I have another 130+ Marines to do.

Thanks for dropping by.

Necron Warriors Squad #6 - Warriors 25-30

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. Here is another update of the ever-living Necron Army, progress i feel I should share. So, another squad of 5 warriors done - but this also completes my Warriors (for now - I still have model spares a-plenty!)
But what makes this better is the picture below, all the Warriors to date, 30 of them and 3 of 4 Crypteks finished. They really do have a simple satisfaction of a job well done - indeed they are 'Legion' and woe any foe thinking they can just roll over these simple troops - we'll glance your fine War Machines to death!
Thanks for dropping in. See you soon. Working on a little different Necron next....

Necron Warriors Squad #5 - Warriors 20-25

Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. Just a simple update, another Squad of Warriors completed, same as before. 5 more done, 5 to go - then I have 3x10 warriors if I need them. Cheap, reliable, sometimes awesome glance-tastic Warriors. Coupled with a Voltaic Staff Cryptek can bring down Imperial Knights!
Thanks for stopping by. I'm back from overseas for a little bit, so I should make some progress with Necrons and more Relictor goodness....

Necron Cryptek #3 and Warriors Squad #4 - Warriors 15-20

Hello Readers and welcome back to our humble blog. Here are my latest expansions to the ever-living (growing) Necron Army. This is the finished Cryptek made from the WFB Banshee and another Squad of Warriors.
The Warriors are nothing special, on purpose they are the same as the previous 3 squads, ideally they are identical as these are the basic Legion troop.
The third Cryptek I have made is from the WFB Banshee model, cut at the waist and a Necron Warrior Torso and a Lychguard Abyssal Staff used to make a decent Cryptek model.
Hope you like. Thanks for dropping by.

Necron Warriors - Squad #3 - Warriors 10-15

Just a quick update, another Squad of Warriors done for the ever growing Necrons... nothing fancy, the same as before - they are after all 'Legion' and should all be the same.
And to prove I'm not just posting the same squad as before ;) 3x 5 Warriors done.

Necron Warriors - Squad #2 - Warriors 5-10

Hello Reader, I am back from my oversea adventures for now and adding to the weemen 'done' pile, but the 'yet to do' pile doesn't seem to go down - darn you FW and GW!

Nothing fancy here, just another squad of Warriors to slowly add to the Necron Army - these will no doubt be transported in one of the Night Scythes already done. Lots more to do for this army, however I'm feeling the need to branch out with some Allies perhaps... hmmm... what to choose? I'm thinking some Tau maybe?

Thanks for dropping by.

Necron Warriors - Squad #1 - Warriors 1-5

It was about time I progressed a little with my 'other' army after so many Space Marine Relictors Chapter new toys goodness, so some time and effort (very little) went towards my Necron force with a first Troop choice, some lowly Necron Warriors in an attempt to offer a valid second force, albeit a small 'secondary detachment' soon for my games with Lord Halfpenny.

I finally had decided on a colour scheme and what colour and effect to do the gauss energy, so after experimenting with the Obelisk after Christmas and a Night Scythe / Doom Scythe, the colours were still being finalised and I have stuck with the red energy.

As these are lowly warriors, they don't show any of the accent colour for armour plates of a dark blue as seen in the other vehicles. I intend to add blue armour to more important troops and characters to show their higher status, but these dudes are the simplest lowliest troopers. And the first of a few...

I'm currently working on the repaint of the Necron Destroyer I painted as a test scheme way back in May 2012.

Necron Colour Scheme - newest and best

I have battled with how I wanted the Necrons to be painted for some time now, hence why I haven't painted the boxes and boxes of them I have... The Necron Destroyer was changed, the carapace Necron Abyss Blue and gold transfers applied and it was a good scheme... but the gauss colour of blues as well just didn't pop or grip me. But I think I've cracked it... this is Red gauss energy and it's easy to do (important), looks good enough for me and as my next post will show (hint above - what's he standing on??) suits the blue carapace and golds.

This guy has now been changed 3 times, I think I'm finally happy with my scheme and ready to swell the unliving metal ranks with Legion of Necrons...

The metal coincidentally is Army Painted Platemail (like GW Chainmail), washed with Devlan Mud and Badab Black and highlighted with a little Chainmail.

Necrons - New Army Colour Scheme

Here is a shot of my new Necron Army colour scheme, as you can see I am not a fan of the glass green rods, they look too 'Lego' for me so I thought I'd be a little different and have a blue theme. I envisage the vehicles being black with a glow blue trim (Skink Blue Dry Paint) like the destroyer above, the more important the necron, the more gold they will have - these two are bog standards so no gold, Praetorians will have more, Characters more so.

The scheme was quick enough to do, basecoat of Army Painter silver, matches Chainmail (or whatever that is called - Runefang Steel) then washed with Badab Black (Nuln Oil) and Devlan Mud (Agrax Earthshade) and then highlighted with Chainmail. Blue is mainly Ice Blue (Lothern Blue). The bases are same as my Relictors (Calthan Brown, drybrush Kommando Khaki, Bleached Bone). I've drybrushed around the blue eyes too so suggest a glow.

Comments welcome...

I've got 30 more warriors washed and basecoated and a ton of purchases made (Monolith, 2 Barges, Ark, Praetorians, Immortals, Stormlord, Spiders, Wraiths, Scarabs...)
