Lord Halfpenny- Blog Wars X list

Its that time again, the day before Blog Wars.. time to submit my list..

I opted to several new units, in fact 1 unit was still on the spur at the start of the week, unfortunately I've not managed to finish off the army completely, however all models have more than 3 colours, and are to 'table top' standard.. although no where need the 6thDegree or Siph's standards.. sorry guys, letting the team down..

After BW9, I planned to move away from a Knight list, and try something different, thus the plan was set. A space marine list- with my Ultramarines- or supersmurfs.. The UM's last had an outing in BW1, which seems like an age ago- and probably 3 rules books ago! where they didn't fair too well, with a loss and a draw. previous BW events have seen a Khorne list, a daemon list with Fatey and at BW9 my Knights with Dark Angels Allies.

I wanted a list that represented the reason I started collecting Space Marines, the images the feeling of what they were- the background was always about the angels of death arriving into the heart of the enemy and destroying them in rapid assaults. Thus, the plans were set in motion. Several trips to my local GW and ebay, and many purchases later the force started to form. The strategy is simple, hard hitting units arriving in turn 1 or 2, blowing everything dangerous up, and then mop up anything else.

The force is built around 2 formations, a normal battle formation, and a (cough) Skyhammer Annihilation formation (sorry....) with both built with drop pods in mind, with Devastators in the SAF, and both Sternguard and Centurions in additional Drop Pods. Support is in the form of Scouts and a thunderfire. My Character of choice is old faithful- Tigurius. Tigy is in his 2nd Iteration, having both models of Tigurius. I love the first model, he was the first character I ever bought, and painted however the 2nd model will be used this time- its a better painted model!

Ultramarines BWX strike Force

HQ- Tigurius
Elite-    10 Sternguard with 5x Melta and 5x Plasma combi weapons and a drop pod
Troops-5 Scouts with camo cloaks, flakk missile and all snipers,
  -         5 Scouts with 1 sniper and flakk missile
5 tactical marines in Drop Pod
Fast-    1 Drop Pod
            1 Attack Bike
Heavy- 3 Centurions with Grav and missiles- plus omni
            1 Thunderfire Cannon
SkyHammer
5 Man Devastator Squad with Grav- drop pod
5 Man Devastator with Multi Melta- drop pod
5 Man Assault squad with Eviscerator
5 Man Assault squad

The plan is simple, hit hard in the early turns, taking out primary targets, then move forward from there..

See you all there!

BlogWars X Siph's Relictors and Cult Mechanicus - Armylist 1850pts

Hello Readers, time is nearly upon us at Weemen to visit up north and take part in the excellent friendly tournament of BlogWars 10 organised by From The Fang's Alex.
I submitted my army list to Alex a few weeks ago and wanted to use the recently purchased miniatures from Mordian7th into my Relictors, so without further ado, here it is:

Space Marine Primary Detachment (Salamanders)
Chapter Tactics – Flamecraft (All SM have FNP 4+ against Flamer hits. Flamers also re-roll failed To Wound/Pen with own Flame Weapons. Master Artisans – Characters all have one Master Crafted weapon. The Forgefather – Vulkan makes all Melta/Combi-Melta/Multi-Melta master crafted.)
HQ – Warlord (Named Character as per BlogWars rules) – Vulkan He’Stan 190
Troop – 5 Tactical Squad - Boltgun, 1x MC Combi Melta, 1x MC Meltagun 70 + 10 + 10
Troop – 5 Scout Squad - Boltgun, 1 MC Boltgun, 1x Missile Launcher 55 + 15
Fast Attack – 3 Attack Bike Squad - MC Multi-Melta 120 + 30
Fast Attack – Stormtalon Gunship - TL Assault Cannon / Skyhammer Missile 110 + 5
Fast Attack – Stormtalon Gunship - TL Assault Cannon / TL Heavy Bolter 110
Heavy Support –  Centurion Devastator Squad - 1 MC ML / 3 Grav Cannon/Amp 165 + 75 + 10

Ad Mech Secondary Detachment
HQ – Tech Priest Dominus 105
Troop – 3 Kataphron Breachers 150
Troop – 3 Kataphron Breachers 150
Elite – 10 Fulgrite Electro Priests 90+90
Heavy Support – 2 Kastelan Robots and 1 Cybernectica Datasmith 290

Formation: Holy Requistioner  1x Tech Priest Dominus 2x Kataphron Breachers: Deep Strike. Tech Priest does not scatter if 6in of Objective. Priest set up first. Breachers do not scatter if 6in of Priest. If within 6in of Objective – Breachers have Counter-Attack (+1A if charged) and Zealot

I have tried to maximise the Forgefather gifts from fielding my named character Vulkan He'stan, and every SM Character has one Master Crafted Weapon. Along with Torsion Cannon/Arc Claw wielding Breachers and the ability to Deep Strike, this will be quite good at Anti-Tank, but lacks Anti Infantry. The Cult Mechanicus stuff will be fun to use as I haven't even play tested it!

Any way, wish me luck and see you there if you are attending!

the6thdegree - off to Blog Wars 8

Morning folks - just a quick post from me; tomorrow is Blog Wars 8 and despite only having one game of 7th Ed since its release, I will be there with my Iron Warriors - attempting to throw down with the best of them!
If anyone reading this doesn't know about Blog Wars, its a great 1 day tournament that encourages friendly gamers to bring friendly lists and friendly games. Alex from From the Fang has been organising them all himself and does a stellar job - there is always great prize support and I've been lucky enough to walk away from most events with either a podium/painting, raffle or spot prize.

As I've said, I will obviously be taking my Iron Warriors, but my personal life has taken over my hobby life recently so I am ashamed to say I wont be taking a very different list to BW (which admittedly did ok...) so this time I wont be entering the painting competition.

The list I am taking is:

HQ Price
1 Abaddon 265

Troops
10 CSM 140
10 VotLW 10
2 Plasma Guns 30
1 Rhino 35
1 Havoc Launcher 12

10 CSM 140
10 VotLW 10
2 Plasma Guns 30
1 Rhino 35
1 Havoc Launcher 12

12 Cultists 58

12 Cultists 58

Elites
3 Terminators 95
2 Power Fists 14
1 Power Sword -

1 Helbrute 100
1 T/L Lascannon 25
1 Missile Launcher 10

Heavy
3 Obliterators 210
3 Mark of Nurgle 18
3 VotLW 9

3 Obliterators 210
3 Mark of Nurgle 18
3 VotLW 9

1 Vindicator 120
1 Combi-Bolter 5

Fast Attack
1 Heldrake 170
Hades Autocannon -

Army Total 1848

The main difference between BW 7 and 8 lists is that I have added VotLW where possible, which means I have had to swap out a Heldrake for a cheaper Vindicator. I am hoping the changes to 7th Ed mech might mean that my normally dead-in-T1 Vindi will be a bit more survivable and help getting rid of Terminator squads that I inevitably seem to come up against (that the now semi-nerfed Heldrake really isn't useful against).

Anyway - fingers it goes well - a write-up will follow.

Blog Wars 7 Tournament List - Iron Warriors

Hi all - this weekend is the 7th iteration of the worlds best 40K tournament; Blog Wars. All the Weemen have been to at least one of these Tournaments, but I am proud to say that I've been to every one so far.

Unfortunately Siph and Lord H wont be able to make it this time, but there seems to be a ton of guys going from my local gaming club Red Steel Preston - so there should be loads of familiar faces.

I will of course be taking my beloved Iron Warriors - in a list not too different from my Blog Wars 6 list to be honest...but that's mainly because I don't think I've actually played a game of 40K since Blog Wars 6...

HQ
Ezekiel Abaddon (I use his full name for a reason ;))

Troops
10 CSMs (Melta Gun, Missile Launcher, Power Sword)
Rhino (Havoc Missile Launcher)

10 CSMs (Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher, Power Sword)
Rhino (Havoc Missile Launcher)

10 Cultists

10 Cultists

Elite
Helbrute (T/L Lascannon, Missile Launcher)

3 Terminators

Fast Attack
2 Heldrakes (Hades Autocannon)

Heavy

3 Oblitorators (Mark of Nurgle)

3 Oblitorators (Mark of Nurgle)

So...twin Heldrakes and twin Obliterators...a little spammy I'll admit, but I'm hoping folks wont mind too much seeing as I haven't played in almost 6 months. And lets be honest, pure CSM are hardly a power army...

I also had some 'insight' on what some of the Red Steel guys were taking - and friendly it is not - and couple that with what are bound to be a few armies literally full of Leman Russ' and I don't feel too bad.

For a change I am taking a dataslate formation - Hellcult. This is two units of Cultists and a Helbrute. The Cultists give the Helbrute a 3+ cover save (by throwing themselves in front of fire) and get Fearless back in return.

The Heldrakes have lost the Baleflamers as well - whilst this might seem stupid, I've had a few games where a S6 AP3 flamer actually did very little (e.g. Termis/mech), but have found Vector Striking and then 4 S8 shots into rear armour extremely effective.

Can't wait to throw some army pics up - I don't want to spoil the surprise, but despite my lack of posts on the blog recently, I have been hard at work getting the Iron Warriors into shape and they are looking pretty cool...

See you all there.

Relictors Space Marine Army List 3Way 3500pts

So, following the guidance Pornstarjedi posted (to include all his nasty daemons he's bought!) I set about coming up with a list to combat 'Nids and Daemons. The list has to do three things, 1 - to stand up in CC with Daemons and Bugs, 2 - to Shoot high AV Daemon Engines and high T Monsterous Bugs, and 3 - to pie plate large areas of the battlefield. So basically, bring all my toys and think about Troops last! ;)

Relictors 3500pts

HQ Marneus Relicgar (Armour of Ant, Eternal Warrior, God of War, Orbi, Titanic Might)
HQ Chaplain (Termi)
HQ Librarian (Termi, Null Zone to re-roll Inv Saves, Machine Curse)
HQ Chaplain (Jump Pack, Digital Wpns)
HQ Master of the Forge (Bolster Defences, Conversion Beamer, Bike)

TP Tactical Sqd (ML, Flamer, Rhino)
TP Tactical Sqd (ML, Flamer, Rhino)
TP Tactical (x5, TL LC Razorback)
TP Scout (Hvy Bolter, Sniper, Camo Cloaks)

EL Termi Assault (Redeemer LR, MM)
EL Termi Asault (Godhammer LR)
EL Rifleman Dread
EL Rifleman Dread

FA Assault Sqd (Flamer, Plasma Pistol, Storm Shield, Power Fist)
FA Landspeeder (HF, MM)
FA Landspeeder (HF, MM)

HV Whirlwind
HV Whirlwind
HV Vindicator
HV Contemptor Dreadnought (2x DCCW, Hvy Flamer, Heavy Choice due to MotF)

Pie plates, CC and High Strength Shooty stuff.. done. The HQ choices will tag along with some Elites and FA to bolster their effectiveness and the MotF gives the Scouts more cover save + camo cloaks = 2+ in Fortress/Ruins/Buildings.

Wish the Imperial Forces good luck...

Daemon 3way army list

Hi all!

The time has come to post my daemon list for this Saturday's 3way.

HQ

Fateweaver
Skulltaker- on Juggernaut
Ku'Gath
Mamon
Bloodthirster (Unholy Might, Blessing of the Blood God)

Troops

10 Bloodletter (all options)
10 Daemonettes (Instrument of Chaos)
11 Plaguebearers (Chaos Icon)
10 Horrors (Chaos Icon, and changeling)

Elite

6 Bloodcrushers (all options)
5 Flamers

Fast

5 Seekers of Slaanesh (Chaos Icon)
3 Screamers
Blight Drone

Heavy

Soul Grinder (with Phlegm)
Soul Grinder (with Phlegm
Daemon Prince (Wings, Iron Hide, Breath of Chaos)
Blood Slaughter
Bloodslaughter (+ spear)

I'm not 100% on the way I'm going to tackle the 3way- deep striking in between the Nid's and Relictors isn't going to be pleasant experience. My gut says to go out fighting, attacking all sides- however a couple of bad deep striking mishaps (as I've experienced) could be critical in this battle, more than any. Therefore the 'initial' plan may involve setting up an initial landing point in the center of the board and attack from there. As you may have noticed that I do have the units now to field a very nasty 'unit' which from what I've read on various other blogs is pretty fearsome- I'll discuss this further after the battle.

roll on the 3way!

'Nids 3Weeway List

Hi all, so next weekend will be the first Annual (???) Weemen 3Weeway at Warhammer World (that’s a lot of W’s) with ‘Nids vs. Daemons vs. Relictors battling out to be crowned king of the blog (that’s the deal right?).

2 x Lash Whips
Tyranid Prime
Dual Boneswords
Deathspitter

Mycetic Spore
Tyrannofex
Rupture Cannon
Dessicator Larvae
Cluster Spines
Trygon Prime
Adrenaline Glands
That’s exactly 3500pts.
I’m happy posting my list up early because there’s not much I can do about it…my army currently maxes out at about 4000pts, so I don’t have a huge amount of choice in what I can take – but I am happy with what I’ve got. And yes – I know I haven’t posted much whilst my collection has grown from 1500pts to 4000pts….but I am useless at getting round to taking pics. I’ll change. Promise.
There’s no way I am going to talk about tactics ahead of time (not with these crafty guys watching…) – although I am sure the astute readers out there will be able to look at Relictors and Daemon armies and my list and work out what I have in mind…*rasp croak hiss rasp growl* (the ‘Nid version of mwah ha ha ha ha)!
