Great Unclean One - Glottkin converstion

Hello, One and All,

I've started working on models that have been sat on my bench for a while, with the unit of Pink Horrors, Greyfax and Sisters of Silence all completed recently. Another model done as another Great Unclean One, this time using the Glottkin model as a base.

I've added Nurglings around the model, and also added a 40k themed base to try to move the model from the AoS version.

The model was painted in a similar style to my other GUO, with a base of Death Guard green, which is then washed with several coats to add depth. The model had details picked out with yellow for the boils, and different hues of red for the cuts/scars holes littered across its body. The tentacles have been painted in deep purples, again to match with the other GUO's, with the end of each arm painted similar with purples colours. The whole model had washes with Nurgle Rot and Typhus Corrosion to add that 'Nurgle' touch.

I am really happy with the look of the model, and will look forward to seeing him on the dancefloor of war!

Legio Astorum - Forge World Warlord Titan Build #23 - Torso Armour Plates

Hello Titanseers, more progress on the Warlord Dominus Victoria, another step forward, the main bulk of the Torso is now armoured and protected, only the main six Shoulder Plates to do.

The link to the whole Titan Construction process can be found HERE.

The head Cowling I chose to be yellow to accentuate the yellow Head of Legio Astorum titans. so the small Beta Head isn't lost in the sea of blue livery. I roughened up the surface on the torso and the cowling and used JB Weld to fix it in place, held by some elastic bands.
The shoulder mounts and Mauler Bolt Cannons were great anchoring points for the bands.
I leave all my pieces overnight to fully dry before embarking on the next armour plates, JB Weld is awesome but tack dry after 5-10mins but gasses off over 24hrs.
The upper head cowling was also a difficult piece to clamp, You have to apply pressure to fully keep the fixing tabs in the slots provided whilst the JB Weld dries.
Here you can see the two clamps used to extend the clamp reach, the force worked perpendicular through the torso to the rear exhaust. Fairly effective once I figured out how.
The waist armour was detailed with some stripes I applied using tape masking and a brush.
I applied some of the Forge World transfers, Astorum titans detail their battle honours with the star maps to the battle zones - I added several constellation transfers together to fill the space effectively.
I added a few more on the chest armour to link with the top piece and I really like the look so far.
The left hand waist armour shows the Certificate Number "104", a great way to show the history and individuality of the mighty Engines we list over at Titan Owners Club.
The rear Kidney armour has the Legio name and Halo device, and also the name of the Forge World Legio Astorum come from.
Here is Dominus Victoria to date, I still have to add the wide characteristic Leg Greaves and Thigh Armour with Knee Caps, plus the other classic silhouette Shoulder Pauldrons to give the wide "Beetle Back" look of Warlords. But I have managed to fit the Shin Armour Plates too.
I echoed the Head Cowling yellow on the Arm Armour plates, they are lost in the mass of the titan when weapons and Shoulder Pauldrons are in place so I made them stand out a little giving yellow accent colour to brighten up the mass of Blue and Gold livery.
An impressive mass of model already without the top weight of Shoulders and Weapons, but still fearsome with Titanic Feet and an equivalent Land Raider armament already!
The Kidney Armour looks great with the addition of the decals. And the handrail is also Astorum Blue.
So, there you have it - Dominus Victoria is getting there, every stage completed now actually feels like a step forward to completion, I can see the finishing line. Shoulders, Greaves, Head, Carapace Weapons and Arms to go... by end of June for the Titan Owners Club UK Walk - No Problem! :)

Dominus Victoria will Walk at the next UK Titan Owners Club event, where she will be battling alongside 80 (yes 80!!) other Titans! I will be sure to post lots of photos.  Remember to register your own Titans at Titan Owners Club, and if you want some cool Titan Owners Club merchandise they even now have a Spreadshirt Shop, all profits go to buying Titan sized terrain :)

Cheers for dropping by, thanks, Siph.

Armies of the Imperium - Inquisitor Greyfax and the Sisters of Silence

Hello one and all,

To follow up from last weeks Pink Horror post that was completed whilst away, I also finished off 2 units of Sisters of Silence and Inquistor Greyfax.

Inquisitor Greyfax
I've painted her with silver the base colour, washed with Agrax Earthshade, with then details picked with black, gold or red. I've added a warmth to her face with warmer flesh tones. There is a hint of one of my favourite X-men characters with her hair. I've gone for a light brown, with a white strip at the front like Rogue. I've also added a touch of the catwalk with red soles for her boots. (a nod to my wife's favourite shoes..)  The silver armour was highlighted to add depth of the model. The cape I did with a purple finish, to add a different colour to the model to add interest.

The base was done using my normal recipe to fit in with my Imperial Armies.

Sisters of Silence
Similar to Greyfax, these were painted with a silver base, with purple capes, and browns for the fur. The power swords had a blue tip with a bright white highlight, which was then washed with a blue glaze.

I've opted for a squad with flamers, and a squad with power swords.
The 3 units, due to the colours used fit well as a force- really happy with how these look - and look forward to trying them on the dancefloor of war!
Thanks, Lord Halfpenny

Terrain and Scenery - Barricade Scratchbuilt from Printer Spares

Hi All, thanks for dropping by. A simple piece of terrain I did for my Boss's son, He recently asked for Warhammer40K presents at Christmas, so as a nice gift to a newbie, I thought I'd help out his terrain collection and hopefully inspire him along the route of doing terrain too.
It actually came about from a conversation about the spare printer plastic (i think for adapting the printer to US Legal Size paper) and was going into the bin when I joked it would make a great Space Marine Barricade, and the boss agreed. I then thought "you know what, I'll do just that" and did.
I added two firing platforms from some spare Rhino top hatches and some resin vent casts as tank-trap dragons-teeth, cut the ramparts to size for the Primaris Marines on the firing steps.
I added a spare Skull from the Arcane Ruins, some Chaos Vehicle Accessory Chains and an interior screens piece from a Land Raider. I added a scope to the skull to make it seem like the screens were showing what the skull can see.
The barricade had sprue debris added and painted Mournfang Brown drybrushed Karak Stone earth and Skavenblight Dinge barricade. Dawnstone washed Nuln Oil debris and concrete. The wall was highlighted and skull painted Zandri Dust before washes in streaks to look dirty.
A few choice transfers from Baneblade Sheet and SM Vehicle Sheet and the printer plastic was transformed!
Not bad if I say so myself, it looks up to the task and quite a good terrain piece.
Terrain is often overlooked or thought to be expensive, well in all, this was pretty much free besides a delve in the bitz box and a hardboard offcut. Terrain is the third army on the table and really enhances the feel of games. Hopefully this inspires someone to have a look around the Office for suitable spares :)

Thanks for dropping by, Cheers, Siph. (5pts for Scenery)

Chaos Daemons - Pink Horrors of Tzeentch

Hello one and all,

I've had some time away with work in hotels, so I picked my trusty case with models and paint, and finished a unit of Pink Horrors (and next weeks post too).

These were painted the same as my other 2 units of 10, just with different coloured tongues to make out the units in combat.
The pink was achieved with a base coat of Emperor's Children Pink over a white base, with then a wash of Carroburg Crimson.
A nice bright unit to go with my daemon force.

Cheers, Lord Halfpenny (10 points to the annual painting total)

Legio Astorum - Forge World Warlord Titan Build #22 - Magnetizing the Arms

Hello Titanseers, continuing the build for the mighty Warlord Titan, every Titanseer has to answer the question "How am I going to mount the Arms", well this is my take. I intially chose a rack and pin horizontally, but when all constructed with the armour, a butterfly screw didn't have any room in the armpit area so I chose strong magnets. These have about 2.5 to 3Kg pull and hold the arms sufficiently.

The link to the whole Titan Construction process can be found HERE.
I chose 8mm x 30mm rod Neodymium magnets and drilled a suitable hole to recess the magnets in the arm. I chose to slant the Bellicosa Volcano Cannon slightly downward, hence the angle.
As you can see, to sit fluch to the arm recess, the magnet is slightly proud of the ribbed details, thus ensuring a contact fit with the arm mount magnets.
The arm mount magnets were two end to end 8mm x 12mm rod magnets giving me 24mm depth and the doubling up doesn’t give an equivalent pull of the weapon rod magnets, but I just chose smaller ones in case I had to come across the pins in the arms seen in earlier post Pinning Arms and Shoulders, but it was fine and doubling up ensured a strong pull but also a ribbed surface area at the join between the two magnets within the arm so a physical grip to defy gravity as well as the magnetic pull to suspend the arm, If you have room, 8mm x 30mm rods would be ideal too, giving a greater pull.
So a quick look of what is yet to do, plus the head and second arm weapon - yet to be started, I substituted the Mars Alpha head I had constructed for a Mars Beta WHW Exclusive head.
And some more progress on the armour plates, the Titan now has it's groin protection! Slowly getting there.

Cheers for dropping in and thanks, Siph.

Legio Crucius - Warbringer Nemesis Titan - WIP #8 - Rites of Colour

Hello! and thank you for stopping by!

I've making some serious progress with the Warbringer Nemesis now, this might be helped with a box I picked up last week (its big).

With regards the Warbringer Nemesis I have washed the endo-skeleton with Agrax to add depth, and then the slow process of washing/highlighting the armour panels.

I have also opted to use Agrax over the platform on the top of the titian, and over the Quake cannon. details were picked out with gold, and then will be washed/highlighted like the plates.
The head, I've gone for a 3 tone colour, using the 3 colours I've used over all my titans, edged with gold. The model has been prepared to allow the LED lights to be housed in the head, and the power pack in the body.
The legs have had all the pistons added, and then the brass hips have been washed and highlighted to match the Reaver titan.
Slowly getting there.
Thanks for looking! LH
