Relictors Landspeeder - Apocalypse Suppression Squadron

Coming at you from sea still - A small update to my ever growing Relictor Battle Company, another landspeeder which I found in my big pile-o'-to-do box, I intended this for a Apocalypse Suppression Squadron when Apoc came out, so finally I had this completed in January! Now I just have to go find the rules somewhere as it is not in the latest Apoc edition... basically the Landspeeder acts as a spotter and if has LOS, the Whirlwinds don't count as firing indirectly - or something along those lines. Anyway, one can never have too many anti-tank fast options for 40K.
The frontal view shows the underslung sensor package, this is the Marine Sensor from the Apoc Command Upgrade Sprue. And because the formation can be any type of Landspeeder, I opted for a basic MM armed one so I could field in a normal game of 40K when points were tight.
The tail fin has the numeral III as it is the third Landspeeder I have done, so all three can operate as a Squadron if wanted.
The rear thrusters of the landspeeder show a red and blue 'light', just the same as the others and the same as any Marine Backpack or Terminator waist in the army so far, a visual link to the rest of the force. Grab a mini and look - see bet you didn't even notice they were there!
Finally, a shot of the whole Squadron together - that must be able to toast a Landraider or Sicaran Battletank or two...

Relictors Relic Whirlwind Scorpius - Forgeworld Goodness

I'm posting this whilst away again at sea, I completed this over Crimbo and you've seen it perform admirally against Lord Halfpenny's UM's. Here is the latest offering for the growing Relictor Armoury... A FW Relic Whirlwind Scorpius. After being on the receiving end of one of these from Lord Halfpenny's Ultramarines, I had to get one! AP3 goodness, and D3+1 shots if it doesn't move! Marine killer... I found out the hard way :)
The launcher shape is the big difference from a normal Whirlwind, very Rogue Trader Missile Launcher-esque, it also has a Deimos Rhino Hull. I love the look and feel of this Mark, a nice nod at the nostalgic past, I had several MKI Rhino's back in the day.
This variant also comes with a Stormbolter (two Bolters) as standard. Nice. The new IA Book Vol2 Edn 2 comes with all the updated rules for using these FW vehicles in normal 40K, or using escalation etc. The only limitation with this one, is it is a Relic of the Armoury, so likewise, it is rare you can only field one of a Relic classed vehicle in the army - so not OP, in my opinion, quite balanced and nice to spice it up.
I've added a number of Purity Seals and honours to reflect it's 'relic' status. The missiles are yellow to link it with the rest of the army and also to lift the model from being a rather dark one. Just like every vehicle I do, I regret my choice of boltgun metal coloured rivets - all 497 of them! lol
Here is a comparison shot with the second of my Whirlwinds, also with yellow missiles, the Relic Scorpius looks quite brutal I reckon!
And here is the simple magnet job to ensure the turret rotates but doesn't fall off. A simple bit of sprue and some powerful tiny magnets.

Relictors Whirlwind #2

Here's some pics of the latest addition to the Relictor's Battle Company. I was thinking ahead to next weekends Weeman 3Way at Warhammer World and thought some nice indirect pie-plates would be good bug killers.

The chains and skull motif are common on all of my Relictors vehicles.

The big skull is a cut down version of the horned skull from the Archaic Ruins boxset. The twin Whirlwind had the normal skull icon, these look a little 'meaner'.

Why Veritas? No idea, it began with V, like the other whirlwind Valus, kinda a nod to the German Vengeance weapons? Clever, indirect, fearful, ahead of their time - and the precursor to the space race.

And here they both are, Valus and Veritas, all I need now is the spotter Landspeeder for another Apoc Formation...

Whirlwind gets another Turret...

... or the slightly longer title of "2nd Whirlwind WIP but wanted to show it off anyway".
A similar turret to the first but with bigger missiles, just for variation. I will try to do the main body the same as the first too, and then maybe a Landspeeder with a Comms turret for the Apoc Formation.

Relictors Whirlwind

I have finally finished another Heavy Support choice for my Relictors growing Battle Company. I like the idea of a Whirlwind laying down suppresive fire over the heads of your own troops, and indirect fire at that.
The turret is fully moveable but I have fixed in the missile heads rather than bother with magnets for the Castellan missiles, or having half and half. The Smoke Launchers and Chain are from the Chaos Vehicle Frame, fitting in with my Relictors theme of dabbling with Chaos. As all my vehicles have, the Skull icon is from a Fantasy Shield sprue.
The huge skulls are taken from the Archaic Ruins and fit the Relictors Theme quite well.
It is my intention eventually to paint another Whirlwind and a Landspeeder with Command Frame Scanner to make a Suppresion Squadron Apocalypse Formation. The second will have the larger Castellan missile heads.
