Relictors Space Marine Rogue Trader Predator - RTB08

Hello All, thanks for dropping by, my latest (and somewhat ancient) addition to the 4th Company Relictors is an old school cool RTB08 Space Marine Predator Assault Tank.
(I remember buying these boxes from Oxford Street Plaza Games Workshop)
I added my usual shield boss skull face all my Relictors vehicles have, and a modern front rake and a sensor and grab rails from AdMech kits. The long side rails are missing but thats totally usual with second hand kits.
The original box art had small pennant flags showing Chapter Icon and Company/Squadron number so I obliged with some paper banners and decals, on paperclip aerials as the original were in a bad way.
The kit when received was heavily coated in thick chalky paint, no idea what it was, not acrylic or enamel, probably craft paint and thick white to cover up... anyway, the worst bits got sanded down flat but I just overpainted the majority as it was too difficult to remove - just adds to the charm.
The model was sprayed Uniform Grey from Army Painter, metallics picked out with Abaddon Black and tidied up with Codex Grey (Dawnstone) and metals a variety of Leadbelcher, Warlock Brass and some black sooting on exhaust stacks.
I added some purity seals to this relic of the Chapter and the spare crates on the rear marked with Company green and numeral 4, and Chapter badge white skull on black field. The pennants followed suite.
Here it is with my other 4th Company vehicle, a Mk1b Rhino.
And next to the modern variant.

Cheers for checking this old school beauty out. Cheers, Siph (5pts)

Old School Purchase Find - Job Lot £50 Bargain

Hi Guys and Gals, I had to share this amazing lucky find, at the moment I work at an Organisation which has an internal 'sales and wants' blog for want of a better description. Well a work colleague knew I am interested in Warhammer 40K and pointed me to a sales ad for a job lot of old Warhammer 40k goodness...  I offered a price and advised that they would get more if they sold separately as lots on eBay, but the owner was happy to take my cash knowing some of their childhood tanks and Weemen would be re-purposed and put back into service for the Emperor! I promised I would inform them once I repainted the Rhino, the one thing in the lot I really wanted, and a deal was made!

Here is the 1996 Era Terminator Captain who I stripped with Dettol and is up on the auction block.
An old school Landspeeder Typhoon, which will get a new grey Relictor paintjob. I don't actually have an Assault Cannon armed one! Bargain.
The Rhino, cleaned up and basecoated with Relictor grey WIP, aerials repaired (bent) and mount for a Storm Bolter added, (was missing guns) and a missing exhaust made from a Necron Power Cable but look! INTACT HANDRAILS! Unheard of, small snap repaired and good for the ride for my RTB01 Squad from Squaduary earlier this year!
A part plastic, part metal Devastator Squad needing some love or stripping - probably for the eBay block...
A couple of Attack Bikes and SM Bikes, with half metal rider Torso's Sergeant, Melta and Plasma.
An old but VERY heavy metal Dreadnought - this will end up on the scenic base of my Necron Tomb Stalker.
An old School Predator RTB08, I think will get a clean up and requisitioned into the Relictor ranks
Some Blood Angel Death Company and Chaplain, also for the stripping and auction block.
Lots of spares, arms, weapons and Back Packs for those metal Torsos
Up on the auction block an incomplete Assault Squad, four Marines and three jumppacks plus some CC weapons.
A full Tactical Squad with arms, weapons and box. Already sold.
A selection of Deathwing, Assault and Assault Cannon Rogue Trader Era Terminators, and some metal Scouts, I think all for stripping and auction but the Scout Sergeant may get a reprieve...
2nd Edition Gretchin, sold already as is, painted but could do with some love.
2nd Edition Goff Ork Boyz, also sold and on their way to their new owner.
And lastly, a couple of 2nd Edition Tactical Squads, too static for my liking, so already sold too. So far I've recouped over half my outset, I have a few other random metal minis in Dettol as I type, a DA Standard Bearer, Ezekiel without his Sword, some Biker Torso's etc.

A great bargain! And an RTB Rhino Mk1b with Handrails! Good times.

Relictors Predator Annihilator

I have finally finished my 2nd Predator for the Relictors force. It is an expensive choice with the lascannon sponsons but with my dice rolling - i need every cannon shot to penetrate and roll higher than my normal 2 on the damage tables!
This Predator completes my order from Paintedfigs.com, which included the other Pred and the 3 Vindicators (so, half painting points for me). I have added the detailing and weathering and a bucket load of Boltgun Metal rivets! This beauty is also wearing the Extra Armour / Reinforced Armour from Forgeworld, I figured an anti-armour vehicle should at least try to stay alive when up against its prey, normally Pornstarjedi's LR or mirrored Predator Annihilator.
So, welcome 'Septimus', may all your hits be penetrating... Pictures also in 'Finished Relictors' gallery in the sidebar but again in liited pixels as on secondary camera >>>>>

Relictors Predator Destructor

Here is my Predator Destructor now finished. This was one of the tanks part painted by paintedfigs.com along with the previously posted Vindicators. Since arrival he has been waiting patiently in the painting queue - but now I've finally thought I should get something larger painted (but only half painting points) so I took out the bits I'd put aside for this and got going.
I've added a Chaos skull chain like all my other vehicles have to continue the Relictor theme, added Aquila, Skull (from WFB shield), Chaos Auto Launchers (smoke), and a Hunter Killer Missile upgrade for some decent Anti Armour beside the Autocannon. I've also painted every rivet, window and sensor lens and weathered the bottom part of the hull to match my other tanks and the Autocannon barrel. Particularly pleased with the blue lens on the turret.
Lastly I added the Transfers and a Scroll to match earlier tanks. This one has a random name 'Vitruvius' taken from the Dark Angel Name Generator (I think found at Bolter & Chainsword?)
I had a varnish frost nightmare when spraying the turret but was immediately fixed by a quick layer of 'Ardcoat to de-mist and then a careful tentative Matt Purity Seal re-spray when dry. You really have to shake the can vigorously - and then shake some more to avoid this hell!
As always, bigger pics in the 'Finished Relictors' gallery >>>>>

Reinforcements

Prior to the battle report, I had a free weekend for some hardcore painting, and modeling... time for reinforcements!

To add to my force, two Rhino's were added, I need to finish the models with transfers and the tactical markings on the back, however rain prevented me from spraying the markings on them. I also need to add a storm bolter to R2. I was going to add a hunter killer missile, however a storm bolter is standard on the Rhino, - this will be done over the weekend.

Next up is a predator armed with the tank hunting annihilator patten. The marine on the turret has been converted to allow the storm bolter turret to rotate. Originally I was going to paint the marine red, as his left shoulder pad is a mechanicus symbol. After consulting sergeant Chronus profile it hit me that some tanks would be crewed by 'normal' space marines. Within the character profile it cites that there are 50+ marines within the armoury, so why not have a squad designed to operate all armour vehicles? -Thus tread head marine was born. The mechanicus symbol was painted bronze to identify the marine as a 'tread head'. ( i like the idea, I hope you guys do to!!)

To add to the Rhino's, a second drop pod was built, and painted. The model requires the doors to be finished with the yellow/black chevron combination. I've got a third sat waiting to be completed! I love the idea of having a company drop podding into battle, the fear of facing 1 is scary enough.. but 9??? Geezes.

Also I've added pictures of my other projects carried over from my marathon of modelling, I built up my Forgeworld Ultramarine Venerable Dreadnought and Chaplain Dreadnought. I've converted the base of the Venerable Dreadnought so that he is stomping onto a Tyranid warrior body, the positioning of the model is aimed so that it appears that the unfortunate Tyranid has been blasted by a plasma-cannon (its going to leave a mark, for sure... medic!!) The Chaplain Dreadnought is armed for close quarter combat. A Multi-melta for the tougher opposition and a power fist/flamer combi. I've gone for the MkV style arm, I feel it fits with the style of the model, it is the same size as the melta arm so he doesn't look 'wonky'.

As you can see the Dreadnoughts have good company. I really need to crack on and finish all of these dreads!!Also added is a picture of my Assault Termie's, they were awesome in the battle report again against Siph. The sergeant is based on the Lysander model, with the Imperial Fist icons filed away, I like the idea of having veterean sergeants (especially the 1st company) looking venerable with their armour covered in honours - almost looking like a captain. (these guys are pretty much one step from becoming a captain). These guys will be getting a fresh lick of paint, and basing. Once done I'll show you the results!!
..............................Right time to get on with this reaver!!
