Dreadtober 2026 - Week 3 Progress - Necron 'Knight' Painting Progress

Hello Dreadtober-teers!
For those not in the know, Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) and I like to partake in Dreadtober, and have done for a few years, a veteran of now 10yrs with a sum of six Dreads, two Imperial Knights, two Armiger Knights and a Necron Construct, now joined with this larger Construct!
This week I have started the painting progress in ernest, painting the leg greaves first and working my way up. I had a spare Canoptek Reanimator which I chopped up for parts, using the lower legs as stabilisers akin to the T'au Stormsurge.
I started with some gauss power cables in red energy and some gold parts for a splash of colour.
Kill Team terrain bits were used to adorn the base and add interest.
More Canoptek Reanimator parts, mounted either side of the head with counts-as 'Heavy Stubbers' and a shoulder mounted ray-gun thingy, more for detail and cover the fact that this is a really big Warrior... the Canoptek Reanimator shoulder guards were also used to give more curved 'Knight' shoulders, and break up the Warrior sihoulette.
Lots of edge highlighting for the blue parts, joyous...

Getting good progress done now, I will be able to complete this for my Dreadtober pledge in time!

Cheers, Siph

Dreadtober 2026 - Week 2 Progress - Necron 'Knight' Basecoats and Weapons

This week I have been laying down basecoats and painting the sub-assemblies. I still have some work to go to break up the Warrior silhouette and have a Necron Canoptek Reanimator spare I can butcher for parts, namely the shoulder armour to give a more 'knightly' curved frame rather than the slab Warrior ones.
With ranged weapon loadout.
The main gun, a counts-as Rapid Fire Battlecannon if played as a Knight Paladin.
I still have some work with the rear of the leg greaves to do, plus the shoulder guards.
And some paint on the weapon sub-assemblies, following my usual Necron scheme of blue armour, gold trim and red/orange gauss energy over the silver endo skeleton. Here you can see the forearm gun attachment (counts-as Avenger Gatling Cannon if playing as Knight Crusader), or the close-combat flail (counts-as Reaper Chainsword or Thuderstrike Gauntlet if play as Knight Paladin)

Really enjoying the break from normal minis and Titans to do this long overdue project idea. That's what Dreadtober is great for! Check out the link in the sidebar for all the Dreadtober projects >>>>>

Dreadtober 2026 - Necron 'Knight' - Construction Begins

Firstly I posed the MacFarlane Necron Warrior and glued into place the joints. I added the Scarab as a face, to differentiate from a 'huge Warrior' to something more akin of a walker-construct.
I really like the cyclops style single occulus sensor / eye. Very Deathmark-esque.
As a close combat alternative using magnetised forearm swap for a counts-as Reaper Chainsword / Thunderstrike Gauntlet close combat arm using more Tesseract Vault leftover cables. This will be the Knight Paladin close combat arm.
Or Twin Tesla Destructors to counts-as Avenger Gatling Cannon of a Knight Crusader
A top mounted gun to either counts-as a carapace Twin Icarus Autocannon array or act as the Questoris Heavy Stubber. Close up of the mandibles from a Triarch Praetorian torso.
Pieces mainly from the leftovers from an Obelisk Build using the Tesseract Vault bits. I will also use some bits to break up the shoulder silhouette too. Pipes and cables from Night Scythe kit.
I quite like the massed mechadendrites look of the close combat attachment.
To make a silhouette difference from a huge Warrior to a walker-construct, and echo design of an Imperial Knight somewhat, I cut down some Necron terrain bits into Greaves. The extra toes were placed in a cruciform design like Imperial Knights, again parts of the Tesseract cables. The knee guards from Triarch Praetorians, and a groin pterges/baltea from a Overlord cloak.
I then wanted the head to look different from a Warrior, firstly using the MacFarlane Scarab as a base, then adding spares from various Necron kits to make a construct face sensor cluster keeping the insectoid mandibles and the singular eye sensor.
As a Knight Crusader, the Rapid Fire Battlecannon using a Doomsday Cannon barrel from the Ghost Ark kit and attached using the remains of the MacFarlane Gauss Flayer, plus some suitable Necron bits.
In sub assemblies to aid painting, once painted I can affix the main weapon to the hand, keeping the left hand interchangeable between Knight Crusader and Knight Paladin builds. I'll add some more Necron themed terrain bits to the base from the newer Kill Team Tombworld set. Enjoying this foray into mad-cap construct building!

Cheers, Siph.

Dreadtober 2026 - WeeMen Participating for 10th Year - Necron Knight

Hello Dreadtober-teers! My favourite hobby event of the calendar year is back again for another instalment and I nearly missed it again! This year is yet again being run by Marc (Old School Gaming) so a massive thanks to him for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) for their contributions through the years too.

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) and I like to partake in Dreadtober, and have done for a few years, a veteran of 10yrs with a sum of six Dreads, two Imperial Knights, two Armiger Knights and a Necron Construct!

This year, another Necron Construct, but this time a counts-as Necron Knight! A counts-as Paladin or Crusader Knight. It will be based on the MacFarlane Necron Warrior Toy

And a few inspirations
