Squaduary 2023 - Relictors Chapter Space Marines - Primaris Reivers - COMPLETED

Good day Squaduary Partisipants and dear Readers, thanks for dropping by. I have completed this year's pledge to do an unloved and overdue squad from the to-do pile. Here is my offering to the paint Gods.
I found it hard to get motivated to paint some 'tacticool' Phobos Marines, eventually when I came back from Titan Walk event and then concentrated on these, I then dropped back into the familiar greys of Relictors and enjoyed the process.
I opted not to paint his respirator canisters red like GW, he has the same grille design as his squad but the knee is detailed in bone like the Primaris Intercessor Sergeants have, and the Squad number is 7, traditional Battle Companies have 1-6 Tactical, 7-8 Assault and 9-10 Devastator Squads, so these reinforcements have continued the tradition. Not aligned to any particular Battle Company, these Primaris reinforcements maintain a grey Relictors trim on the Pauldrons, not the Black or Green of my 5th and 4th Companies.
An arm swap and head angle change makes these two identical Troopers look different.
These two are the other pair of identical Marines, also swapped arms with the other pose.
A few blogs out there are continuing Squaduary events, 262nd Krieg Blog, DAM is doing well with his Dark Angels, check 'em out. Well I have enjoyed Squaduary, another Squad lurking on the to-do pile now completed! I've enjoyed checking out DAM's progress and hopefully a few more people will uphold the tradition of Squaduary.

Squaduary 2023 - Relictors Chapter Space Marines - Primaris Reivers - End of Week 3

Welcome Readers, thanks for dropping by. I have continued my Squaduary pledge this week with the start of laying down some shade and finishing basecoats of the Relictors Chapter Space Marine Primaris Reiver Squad. I had already done the basic base materials so this final week I need to concentrate on the highlghts and the details. I did less than I wanted this week due to other hobby distractions, however I'm sure I will still get these finished by the end of the month!

Squaduary 2023 - Relictors Chapter Space Marine Primaris Reivers - end Week 2

Welcome Reader, I have continued my Squaduary pledge this week with the start of laying down basecoats of the Relictors Chapter Space Marine Primaris Reiver Squad. Last weekend's Beachhead Walk event with the Titan Owners Club was a blast, so I haven't had much time with these.

Squaduary 2023 - Relictors Primaris Reivers

Welcome Reader, I have continued my Squaduary pledge this week with a simple build of the Reiver Squad. A bit of a cop out with progress as I have been busy with getting a Warlord Titan ready for this weekend Beachhead Walk event!
These are push fit Primaris Reivers, and as such were only in three designs, so some arm swaps and head rotation and I get five individual looking Primaris Marines in Phobos Armour.
Two troopers, identical bodies
The other two twins, now with different arms.

Right that's it for this week Squaduary, I will get some paint on these and start the process proper after this weekend's Titan Walk!

Cheers, Siph

Its that time of year again! - Squaduary 2023 - Primaris Reivers

My calendar year has two hobby community highlights I partake in, October "Dreadtober" and February's "Squaduary" - and its February so it's time I grabbed something that has been sitting around on the painting desk for all too long and got it finished! Thanks to DAM at 262nd DKK Blog for the timely reminder!
Squaduary was run by Stepping Between Games blog, Thousand Eyes used to plow through the interwebz and Instagram for the Squaduary pledges and pooled them together. This has now fallen by the wayside but I may have gone and continued my hobby now-tradition last year even if officially there wasn't one, and a few of the community continued too.
In 2022 it was a Squad of Bikers
In 2020 it was a Devastator Squad with Heavy Bolters
In 2019, I completed a Vanguard Squad of Skitarii for my growing AdMech army.
In 2018 it was a Squad of RTB01 Beakie Marines.
And in 2017 it was the first squad of RTB01 Beakie Marines.

So, this year is a long overdue squad of push-fit Reiver Primaris Marines! I haven't actually any Reivers built so these will be a start, just a squad of five as my OCD doesn't allow six!
Wish me luck and join in if you want! And make sure you check out DAM's Dark Angels at 262nd DKK Blog. My initial progress may be slow as I have a Warlord to finish before Beachhead on the 11-12th Feb!

Cheers, Siph

Squaduary 2022 - Relictors Space Marine Bike Squad COMPLETED

Hello Readers and Squaduary Squaddies, I completed my Squaduary pledge this year, a squad of five Space Marine Bikers including a Sergeant. These have been on the to-do pile for a long time but I wanted them done before I attempt a Primaris Outrider Squad or the really great Primaris Chaplain on a Bike.
This squad was my 5th Space Marine Bike Squad and so I could add more ablative wounds to other squads or if points are tight and bodies on the field are needed, I chose not to arm these with special weapons, just the Sergeant has a Chainsword.
The Sergeant was based on legs from a 3rd party Librarian and a torso from a Ravenwing Biker from Dark Vengeance. As he is quite blinged up, I'm sure I could use him as a Character armed with the Teeth of Terra Relic if need be.
The Auspex mount was from the Ravenwing bike kit along with the feather mounts.
The first two trooper Bikers, one armed with an old school Bolt Pistol.
The second two trooper Bikers.

I know a few of you out there have joined in with a Squaduary pledge, and I look forward to committing to another squad next year.

Cheers, Siph (10pts)

Squaduary 2022 - End of Week 3 - Relictors Space Marine Bike Squad

Hello All, and any potential Squaddies of Squaduary, I made some good progress this week with more work done on two trooper bikes painted to completion, I often set out to batch paint but get distracted. I painted one to match a previous squad's bikers and then carried on with a second. I think I'll batch paint the others together, three is a lot more manageable than five anyway.
Here are the two Bikers completed, decals on and awaiting the final varnish seal coat. Still undecided on whether I should arm these with two Special Weapons and Sergeant with a Combi-Weapon but I think I will keep them basic for now, they give me options to field if points are tight and more Bikers are needed, or to supplement the other squads with ablative wound Bikers without Special Weapons.

Squaduary 2022 - End of Week 2 - Relictors Space Marine Bike Squad

Hello All, started putting paint to plastic this week, some construction of the bikes but mainly concentrated on the bases getting them completed and then the riders main bodies. The Sergeant took a while with his fancy cloak and tunic - his legs were from a 3rd party Librarian on Bike and the torso adapted from a Dark Vengeance Ravenwing biker.
The bikes were put together after the metallics were drybrushed, then once fitted with wheels glued and then filed smooth and finally repainted on the filed surfaces for a smooth finish before the grey is completed.

The other Bikers are simple Marine troops, I added a Fast Attack/Assault marking on the knee to match my previous squads, and one torso was resin Mk4 plate, I think from a Red Scorpion kit(?) a while ago.

Happy Valentines Day - may your significant others buy you a loving gift of plastic krak!

Squaduary 2022 - End of Week 1 - Relictors Space Marine Bike Squad

Hello All, so I've progressed with the Bikers somewhat, clipped from sprue, undercoated and cleaned up ready for construction. I've assembled the wheels and drybrushed them with a little of the Mournfang Brown to match the bases.

I intend to drybrush the metal parts of the bikes before assembly, then paint the grey panels once stuck together and filed flat on the mudguards. I've undercoated the handlebars and Bolters with Leadbelcher, the foot-plates and front cowling with Codex Grey (Dawnstone).

Squaduary is run by Stepping Between Games blog, Thousand Eyes plows through the interwebz and Instagram for the Squaduary pledges and pools them together. Last year this didn't happen but unperturbed I was doing it anyway even if the community wasn’t but it’s back and check out the sidebar for more Squaduary Squaddies progress.

Its that time of year - Squaduary 2022 - Relictors Space Marine Biker Squad

Tomorrow is the start of my Squaduary project, My calendar year has two hobby community highlights I partake in, October "Dreadtober" and February's "Squaduary" - and its February so it's time I grabbed something that has been sitting around on the painting desk for all too long and got it finished!
Squaduary was run by Stepping Between Games blog, Thousand Eyes used to plow through the interwebz and Instagram for the Squaduary pledges and pooled them together. Last year this didn't happen (Covid?) but unperturbed I am doing it anyway even if the community isn't!

So, this year is a Biker Squad to join my Biker Cohort, I have four squads of Space Marine Bikers already but these will be armed with just basic weapons to pretty much bulk out other squads if points allow or get re-armed at a later date. I already have:
  • 2x5 Grav Gun Bikers
  • 1x5 Plasma Gun Bikers
  • 1x5 Melta Gun Bikers
  • 3x Attack Bikes
  • 1x Chaplain Bike
  • 1x Librarian Bike
  • 1x Captain on Jet Bike
  • 1x Master of the Forge on Bike (Techmarine with Conversion Beamer)
  • 1x5 Scout Bikers
Wish me luck and join in if you want! Cheers, Siph

Squaduary 2020 Complete - Relictors Devastator Squad w/ Heavy Bolters

Hello All, and a special hello if you are a Squaduary Squaddie coming to check up my progress. Well, as the tile says - I finished my Squad! Yep, not as numerous as some pledges and only 5 Marines, but the extra large weapons/packs and a unique Sergeant mini made this as challenging/time consuming - I am a slow painter!
Squaduary is a hobby event run through February and is run by Stepping Between Games blog, many thanks to Thousand Eyes who plows through the interwebz and Instagram for the Squaduary pledges and pools them together - it was motivational as always seeing the progress of other hobbyists get their squads together! Well done all Squaduary Squaddies!
Here is the squad's Sergeant, a Finecast Captain of the Relics, from the Chapter Masters set, I head swapped and added a Signum Backpack and a Chainsword. Armed with his trusty Combi-Plasma, he can challenge those with impervious heavier armour who stray into range of the Heavy Bolters and don't get cut down.
The mini is a great stand-in for a Veteran Sergeant for a Devastator Squad, his pad already comes with a Devastator Chevron. His pose is a bit too static to be a Captain, so demotion to a Sergeant gets him on the field of battle!
As the bond-studded pad without a green trim doesn't allow the 4th Company markings, I added a green stripe to the Chainsword to link in with the rest of the Squad's 4th Company colours.
The first two of the troopers, I love the Devastator's helmet with the metal plate, and a 3rd party Bionic Leg replacement - obviously a Plasma Cannon veteran before the accident...
And the other two Troopers, standard Devastators from the set. Coincidentally the piles of brass shell casings come with the kit too.
Here is a final shot from different angles, you can see on the far right the veteran bionics and the extra ammunition stowage on the backpacks - I guess the whole backpack is a feed mechanism to the belt, as well as the normal power armour suit functions.

Another successful Squaduary, thank-you all and see you next year! It's good to get the final squad of Devastators finally off the painting table queue and onto the battlefield, and such an iconic weapon selection, Heavy Bolters and a Chainsword.
