Relictors Devastator Squad IX Rhino / Razorback

So after a number of FW goodies being done, and a whole lot more purchased at Gamesday, I've neglected actually completing any more of the basic Relictors Battle Company stock of troops and vehicles, so I knocked out this Rhino / Razorback to accompany Devastator Squad IX.
The film from the transfers is not this visible in real life, just under the spot light shows a little more...
The large markings are from the FW Space Marine Transfer sheet, much easier than freehanding! Although the top hatch one was a pain to get on and move into position.
As always, the vehicle gets a name, and the number denotes 5th Company, hence the Black Trim on shoulder pads and vehicles. And as always, the track section and edges got a light stipple of the Calthan Brown i use on the bases of the troops.
This Rhino is fully equipt to be a Razorback too, I magnetized a sprue section across the doors and top hatch, a very simple magnet job!
And finally, I'll leave you with a group shot, Squad IX with their very own transport. This leaves 2 Rhino's and 3 members of the Command Squad until I can say the Battle Company is complete... but it's never really complete is it?!

‘Nid DakkaFex - Tyranid Carnifex

Whilst Pornstarjedi and Siph have been having fun at Gamesday, somebody has to work... This is one of my favourite units in the‘Nid army – the DakkaFex has all the benefits of being a Carnifex and has 12 twin-linked S6 shots. Great for thinning out pesky marines or glancing light armour to death. With the current lack of Skyfire available to ‘Nids, the DakkaFex is probably also our best option for taking down flyers.

Despite having bought three Carnifex kits for various Tervigon and Tyrannofex conversions in the past, this is first time I’ve ever actually built one as it was intended... (darn good job too, great painting fella. I remember BlogWars 1 when two of these smashed my Relictors with 24TL shots!! - Siph)

Weemen at Gamesday - in the meantime, Relictors Dreadnought Armoury

The Weemen are at Gamesday UK 2012 at the Birmingham NEC today. We will be driving up early this morning to bag some of the great new Horus Heresy FW goodies and having a right ol' Geekfest.  Since we won't be able to post until we get back, in the meantime please accept this filler...Siph finished one more of his (my) many Forgeworld purchases, namely the latest Chaplain Dreadnought, I thought I'd show you all the Dreads to date. I've still a MKIV Ironclad from FW to do plus whatever I buy today (Fellblade anyone??)...

Here are the links to the rest of them if you missed them -

Normal haphazard programme will resume on our return, along with some phots if we've remembered a camera!!

Relictors Chaplains Gather - Our faith is pure!

Just a quick post to show you all the Chaplains together from my Relictors Battle Company. Enjoy. Wherever the Relictors go in their search for Chaos, you can be assured their faith in the Emperor and the Imperium will be unshakeable regardless of the rumours that they dabble in Chaos and need the Inquisition keeping an eye on them!

That's all.  ;)

Warmachine – Khador Great Bears of Gallowswood

Here are some more Warmachine minis; this time The Great Bears of Gallowswood. FYI, they are wearing bear skins – they aren’t the ‘other’ sort of bear...

I picked these up off a guy selling them locally on the RedSteel Preston FB page and I think he likes to convert his WM stuff, because they all had hoods modelled in GS over their heads. I’m sure that would look pretty cool if the entire army is modelled that way, but mine isn’t...so the first thing I did was remove the GS. Unfortunately it looks like the guy had actually removed a good part of the heads whilst converting them, so I then had to drill out the remnants of the heads and replaced them with bitz from my Warriors of Chaos army.

They were then painted up in my standard Khador style and fit in quite nicely with the rest of the growing army (although I screwed up their capes a bit...might go back on fix those later). I have a few more units (and a couple of *big* ‘jacks) on the “to-buy” list and then it should be a pretty decent sized force.

I’ve been looking forward to getting a game with these guys since I got them, but wanted to get them finished first. Great Bears are heavy hitters – pretty much the equivalent of a 3-man medium Warjack. Individually they are average, but they are designed to work in synergy with each other. Each model has benefits that they bestow on the rest of the unit, so when they are a unit of three, they can be extremely nasty! This also puts a bit of a target on their heads so we’ll have to see how they do in practice...

Relictors Forgeworld Chaplain Dreadnought Finished

Hi All, thanks for dropping by. Here is my latest offering, a FW Chaplain Dreadnought for my ever growing Battle Company. He appears in IA Siege of Vraks 2or3 and comes as basic, MultiMelta and DCCW.
Here is the side shot showing the lovely FW DCCW, I've painted it to match my army's power weapons. He comes with Litanies of Battle and has WS5 so it'll come in handy on the charge.
He has Venerable status so re-roll on Vehicle Damage chart should keep him around a little while longer, enough to hopefully use the MM. The gold is my normal receipe, Brazen Brass / Shining Gold / Mithril Silver, the base is also from FW, think it was a Chaos Dreadnought scenic base. I'll post a group shot of all my Chaplains soon - now I've a Jump Pack, Power Armour, Termie Armour and Dreadnought!

One more ticked off the FW pile of to-do... uh oh, Gamesday soon...

Worthy Games Store Opening

This weekend marked the opening of Preston's first FLGS (that I know of) – Worthy Games. Worthy Painting are a commission-painting service, who have opened the store and made the top floors of the building into their studios.

There has been tons of build up on the Red Steel Preston FBpage (Red Steel Preston is the local gaming club that has been started and is based from the store) for the past few months and me and GreyLamb went down to the opening to check it out and pick up some new toys we had pre-ordered.

First impressions of the store were really good; it is big, bright and had tons of stock in from all the main wargaming systems, as well as a few I’d never heard of. There were also loads of miniature displays around the shop, all painted up by Worthy Painting.
I could literally feel my wallet tense up as I browsed. GreyLamb ran to a nearby bank to remortgage his house and ended up leaving with too much stuff to carry.
There were four 4x4 Realms of Battle boards set up in the store with displays or intro games and a painting bar where folks were putting together their newly acquired Dark Vengeance and Drop Zone Commander starter kits.
Upstairs is the gaming area and in the main room there were three full sized Realms of Battle tables and a side room with another table (there will probably be room for another table in each in future).

It was pretty rammed, but not many people actually brought anything to play (a problem we didn’t have), so we grabbed a table and started with a 20pt game of Warmachine.

I brought my Khador and GreyLamb had his Menoth and everything was going nicely in my favour, with my Man O’Wars and Beast ’09 ripping through the Menoth Jacks. It looked like it was going to be a certain win to me, when in true Warmachine style GreyLamb managed to roast my Warcaster with a pair of flamethrowers through a gap in terrain that I had missed.

After a bit more retail therapy we went to some demonstrations from the creator of Relics, who showed us the awesome minis (painted by Worthy I think), talked us through the rules and showed us a test game. Relics looked pretty fun; players take it in turns to use/activate a single unit each (similar to Dreadfleet) and combat is resolved by throwing a load of dice and hoping for doubles.

The creator of Drop Zone Commander was also in the store and spent the entire day talking to folks about the game and signing rulebooks. GreyLamb bought a DZC started kit and the mini’s are pretty awesome...no idea how the game works though...

We finished off the day with an “interesting” game of 40K; we couldn’t find anyone with an army to join in a doubles game, so instead of having the same Nids vs Paladins game we normally have, we mixed things up a bit with some Horde mode. 1250pts of fully tooled up Paladins, Draigo, an Apothecary and a Rifleman Dread started in the middle of the board and each turn 300pt waves of Nids entered and we saw how long it would take for the GKs to die. About 10 turns apparently...and they took somewhere in the region of 99 Gants, 2 Tervigons, 20 Genestealers, 3 Zoanthropes and a Tyranid Prime with them. Nasty! By the end of the game we had a little crowd around us, cheering as brood after brood of Gants threw themselves against the Paladins (although I’m not sure exactly who they were cheering for...).
We had a great day and I think Worthy were really happy with the turnout. If you are ever in the area, I would suggest you check it out or head over to the Red Steel Preston club nights on a Monday.

All pictures were taken by Andrew May on the day (I forgot to take any and they wouldn’t have been as good as his anyway).

Here is a video of the day from JoeyBerry.
