Hello Readers, thanks for dropping by. I have a lore rich treat today. I always loved the original "Death Eagle" 1989 sculpts by Mark Copplestone and when I managed to pick up the trio, I thought what to do with them? The Relictors Chapter has lore where the Relictors continue their fight against the Ruinous Powers using the very tools of Chaos against itself. Although labelled Excommunicate Traitoris, the Chapter remain ever loyal to the Emperor and abide by most part to the Codex Astartes - a notable feature of the Chapter’s organisation is the inclusion of more Librarians than is usual, a feature some observers have attributed to the Relictors’ homeworld proximity to the Eye of Terror
(and nothing to do with chaos taint... honest). The Judicial Guard is tasked with assisting the Librarius and Chaplaincy rooting out corruption before it takes hold - the Chapter's own existence relies on keeping on the right side of Rouboute Guilliman now they have been pardoned and reinforced with Primaris now at the appearance of the Cicatrix Maledictum and the desperate situation humanity finds itself, a few 'indiscretions' can be overlooked...
(read about the fluff and new background to Relictors Chapter above at the tab Relictors Chapter Background). This is why the Judicial Guard wear a gold Pauldron on the left shoulder, a badge of Office representing the golden Aquila of the Chaplain's Crozius Arcanum.
The right shoulder pauldron has the Relictors Chapter badge, many of which I had to freehand due to tiny size, I used whatever pauldrons I had in bitz box with the sculpted disc (and removed IX from the pads). The Sergeant has a totem of a Tome of the Librarius to declare the authority of his squad. Game wise I will run these as a 'firstborn' Tactical Squad with Plasma Gun, Heavy Bolter and Sergeant with Power Fist.
Here are the three "Death Eagle" Marines, the originals can be seen below
Original Death Eagle scheme in WD112 (Apr 1989)
Mail Order Death Eagles from Catalogue '89
The rest of the members are made up of old 1990's sculpts and older pattern bolters, and a Heavy Bolter from Horus Heresy plastics. These fit in better with the old Death Eagle sculpts size wise.
Note the nod to the original Death Eagle scheme with the quartered pink and white knee pads.
Here the 'Death Eagles' back up a member of the Chaplaincy as they seek out impurities amongst the ranks.
Cheers, Siph (10pts)
What a beautiful collection! They do look great in Relictors colours!
