Legio Astorum - Warlord Titan Build - WIP #30 - Carapace Laser Blasters

Hi Titanseers, nearly there, the God Engine walks now it needs guns! Next time I can do a completion post at last... at very long last :)

I had the Carapace Reaver Laser Blasters from the very beginning of this Titan project, and thats how they had sat for near on 3yrs... but no longer, I finally got this monkey off my back and completed the Warlord!

I painted the power hoses to match the others throughout the Titan, coloured a few details like pistons and copper details. The attachment point was dremelled clean of paint and roughened to provide a good surface to glue.

I chose some metallic details, laser rangefinders for the three barrels and some gold trim for interest and weathered the barrels more.

The armour was painted my usual Kantor Blue, FW Nightlords Blue in recesses and gold with Vallejo Brass and Reikland Fleshshade. The top ridges had a highlight of Auric Armour Gold.

The barrels received heat staining using citadel washes, and the muzzle got a drybrush of Abbaddon Black.

Here you can see the metallic touches that add some interest and how the armour plates fit in place nicely.

I chose to keep some of the functionality over decoration with a band of Leadblecher over the vent. I quite like the added details.

The central parts of the barrels received a light drybrush of Stormhost Silver to accentuate the grime either end of the barrels.

The Opus Machina cog motif got a transfer from the AdMech decal sheet, and painted in the black and white usually seen.

Here you can see the two completed Carapace Laser Blasters, Astorum glyphs and constellations on the Carapace Laser Blaster armoured plates. I can interchange them both so constellations or symbols can be inner or outward facing.

Legio Crucius - Warhound Titan - Black Strider COMPLETE

Hello, One and All!

As you can see, WeeMen has become more like TITANMen with the titan projects all 3 of us have had, and still got. One ongoing project was my second Warhound "Black Strider" who now is complete, and ready to walk to war. Since the last post, I have altered the colour of the head armour plating to match the scheme for the rest of her body - one half black, the other striped.

The LED's have been added to the head - unlike Wolfshead, where I've added the lights into the head, and then placed plastic around the eyes to look like a visor, Black Strider has had eye sockets added - with the LED's set inside the socket.

Decals have been added to her. I added a white circle to the black armour for the Legio Crucius icon to be added to. These decals were made by myself and have a clear backing therefore these need to be applied over a white background to get the full benefit.

The Titan Owners Club logo has been added to her carapace, as well as the Titan's name and registration number.

The banners - added to both Black Strider and to Wolfshead were made by Drake Seta over at the Titan Owners Club which really finishes off the model! Thank you Drake!

I'm really happy with the final look of "Black Strider" who joins her completed sister Warhound Engine "Wolfshead" and I can't wait to see her out on the dance floor of war..

Legio Astorum Warlord Titan Build - WIP #29 - Torso and Pauldrons Complete

Hi Titanseers, a major step forward with this God Engine! This was the last major construction piece of the mass of the Titan to do - just the carapace weapons left to do and then I can do a completion post at last... at very long last :) Thanks for following the somewhat protracted build!

The central Pauldrons had the cog motif picked out in Chaos Black, Ulthuan Grey and highlighted Eshin Grey and White Scar respectively, and the trim Leadblecher washed with Nuln Oil. The armour trim was again Vallejo Brass and washed Reikland. The decals from the Legio Astorum sheet were then applied with MicroSol and sealed with 'Ardcoat once completly dry - the shine will be knocked back when the torso is lacquered later.

The central Pauldrons were easily clamped in place whilst the JB Weld dried overnight. Be sure to roughen up the joining surfaces and clear them of paint and dust before applying the JB Weld for a strong bond and greater surface area to grip.

The rear Pauldron armour plates were finished with a Titan Owners Club decal (posted previously) and again Kantor Blue / Nightlords Blue, Vallejo Brass x2 and Reikland.

These proved difficult to get a good clamp grip so I relied on gravity and a firm 5min of manual pressure at the start until the JB Weld started to get tacky.

These were left overnight in the upturned position to prevent any slippage.

The characteristic shell-back of the original Adeptus Titanicus Warlords can be seen in this shot, albeit upside down letting gravity do its job holding the rear plates in position..

The front Armour Plating was more easily positioned owing to the cutaways enabling a clamp to hold them in position.

Once the main armour was in position I affixed the Heraldic Shields in place, making sure both were level and at the same angle. This one is the Legio Astorum heraldry over a yellow stripe.

This one is the rank of the Princeps, in this case the scroll reads "Princeps Majoris". You can also see I added Legio Astorum eclipse motifs to the armour, these were again from the now OOP Legio Astorum Titan decals sheet. The gloss varnish will be knocked back when the entire torso is lacquered to protect it.

The Torso completed - the mass of the titan suddenly looms into view, this is a huge beast of a 'miniature'...

The cog motif of the Adeptus Titanicus overlaid with the Adeptus Titanicus 'T' and the colours of the Legio Astorum.

The rear exhausts for the reactor heat exchanger and the void shield projector arrays clearly seen atop the central torso ridges. The Titan Owners Club decal proudly sitting on the right shoulder blade.

The rear torso with access door and tertiary armament of twin lascannons! Only a Warlord has Landraider weapons as Tertiary weapons!

The left side echoing the right, TOC badge absent being the only difference. I think with a 'miniature' this size it is really easy to over-decorate with symbols/decals/details etc, so I was very careful to let the Titan mass sometimes to do the talking. Here it is just the armour colours of the Legio Astorum.

I'm resisting showing a shot of the constructed Titan with the exception of the Carapace Weaponry as to keep the majesty of the completion post in a few weeks, keep checking back for the progress and the final showcase ready for the Walk in a couple of weeks.

Legio Crucius - Titan Maniple and Warlord - WIP #7 - Nearly There

Hello one and All,

The Warlord project is near completion, with a final highlight for the weapons and the shields to do before the war engine is done. I've started added decals to the Warlord, as well as to some of my other Titans that needed these to finish.

Warlord

The LED's have been added to 'Hell's Daughter' - I've opted for different coloured lights for the head, using 1mm and 2mm lights to fit the 'eye sockets'. The searchlights have had 3mm LED's added which are drilled through into the torso for the power supply. Each light has its own power. 

How to make a Warlord look small....

I've added a combination of custom decals and FW ones. One of the icons every Titan has is the Titan Owners Club logo, to show the Titan is registered.

I've also added some symbols from various FW kits, seals, skulls etc. all to add further details to the Warlord.

Warhound

'Black Strider'  has finally had decals added. The Crucius symbol was added to a part that I had added a white circle to. The custom decals are clear, so adding them over a black background is a definite no-no.

Warbringer Nemesis

'Mons Igneus' has also had symbols added. The right heraldic shield I am going to build an image to add here.

Really happy with how these Titans are coming together.
