Dreadtober Recap - Six Years Veteran Progress

Hi Dreadtober-teers, thanks for dropping by, since I finished this year's pledge a week early I thought I'd continue my Dreadtober posts this week with the re-cap of my offerings over the years of participating with this fine friendly hobby event - as you can see from the photo above, the event has been fruitful and I am seven Dreadnoughts better off for my six years of participation.

2020 - Relic Leviathan Dreadnought with Grav-Flux Bombards

2018 - MKIV Ironclad Dreadnought from Forge World

2017 - Modern Deredeo with Space Marine Casualty

2016 - Plastic Contemptor Dreadnought with re-posed legs

Cheers, and great work to all the Dreadtober-teers this year, thanks for the inspiration and the Dreads! And not forgetting it was run by Marc (Old School Gaming) so a massive thanks to him for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) for their contributions through the years too. See you next year Dreadtober-teers!

Cheers, Siph

Dreadtober 2021 - Necron Canoptek Doomstalker - End of Week 3 - Completed

Hello all and welcome Brother Dreadtober-teers, I have completed my pledge early this year, a Necron Canoptek Doomstalker.
A poor unfortunate Relictor Captain casualty was added to the base as this is Dreadtober so I wanted a little more effort and it matches my other Dreadtober pledge Deredeo Dreadnought with a SM casualty on its base.
Very War of the Worlds vibe with this miniature "Oooooh Laa, Dum Dum Dumm!"
I quite enjoyed this one, it was nice to paint something quite substantial for the Necrons and it was a fairly easy build and sub-assembly.
Here is a comparison with the Canoptek Reanimator, the Doomstalker is quite big.

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) Check the Link in Sidebar or HERE

Cheers, Siph (5pts)

Dreadtober 2021 - Necron Canoptek Doomstalker - End of Week 2 Progress

Hello All, and Dreadtober-teers, here is an update of my progress so far, I've painted the Space Marine casualty for the base and just stuck him down, need to wait for the PVA glue layer to dry locking in the sand grains before finishing off the base.
Here is the armour completed, ready for the main body thorax thingy and main gun, that's all I have left to complete and then its done, in good time for Dreadtober.

Dreadtober 2021 - Necron Canoptek Doomstalker - Week 1 Progress

Welcome all and Dreadtober-teers, so Week 1 done and dusted and some good progress made with fully undercoated and progress with the base and Legs. The pipe on the base I used to experiment with FW weathering powders I have and never used, so a nice rusty pipe.

I've also completed the Doomstalker head to match the bronze of my other Canoptek constructs and the two armoured cowlings in my Necron Dynastic blue. Good progress made, half of the constuct to go, the business end and the Space Marine Casualty yet to start.

Dreadtober 2021 - Its that time again - Siph's Necron Canoptek Doomstalker

Hello Dreadtober-teers! My favourite hobby event of the calendar year is back again for another instalment. This year is yet again being run by Marc (Old School Gaming) so a massive thanks to him for keeping the hobby event alive for another year! And thanks to the founder Greggles, and Joe B and Todd (Sincain40K) and Joel (Mordian7th) for their contributions through the years too.

Dreadtober is an annual event held over the month of October where hobbyists pledge to do a dreadnought-sized model from the to-do pile and get it finished, starting 1st Oct (a few days ago) and hopefully completing 31st Oct (Halloween/All Hallows Eve) with lots of progress shots and encouragement along the way :) and I like to partake in Dreadtober, and have done for a few years, you can see the fruits of this labour in the picture at the end of this post, a veteran of 5yrs with a sum of six Dreads!
So, I looked what I could build and paint this year and settled on something from the actual to-do pile as that is what the spirit of Dreadtober was for, rather than buy new - although there is really nothing wrong with that and I actively encourage anyone wanting to join in, buy or dig out a project and jump in.
As with my Deredeo Dreadnought from 2017, I wanted to use one of the Space Marine Casualties, I chopped away the rockcrete wall section supporting the front most foot and positioned a suitable casualty.
The rest of the parts, for ease of painting I'll keep separate, the main body will be metallic and the armour blue and head bronze like the Canoptek Reanimator.
This one is considerably taller than the Reanimators and will die quickly on the battlefield, but hell it looks great like something from War of the Worlds. I added some sand and that's as far as I got this week.
My previous Dreadtober entries are all of the Space Marine variety, 2016-2020 veteran... this year I thought about a Redemptor Dreadnought but settled on something in the actual to-do pile rather than adding to it in Dreadtober!

Cheers, and to all participants, enjoy, Siph.
