Space Marines- rumour 3

Hi all,

to conclude my rumours themed posts this week, I'd thought I'd share the news about the new 'one click' purchase that will be available..

A ONE CLICK CHAPTER- wow... this is rumoured to be 9,964,75€, or £8,529.33.. again wow..

this is a weird one, I'd love to see a chapter in a box, much like the company in a box, however this will probably be a 'warehouse order' whereby it will be thrown together into a crate and shipped to you- I think there would be more possible interest if this came with limited edition sergeants for the tactical squad, or weapon variations for the razorbacks etc, or pre moulded banners for a series of chapters (founding ones maybe?) , different backpacks to the normal, or weapons versions etc. this would make the pack more attractive, as well as when people see models from the set on the table you'd know that these were from the chapter bundle..

this offer got me thinking about another crazy offer that has been offered by a gaming company- (sorry this isn't anything to do with weeman, but I had to share...)

$1 million Saints Row IV edition revealed

Deep Silver today announced a super premium version of Saints Row IV.
The Super Dangerous Wad Wad Edition aka The Million Dollar Pack--limited to one unit available only at GAME--will sell for $1 million.
In addition to the Commander in Chief version of the game, top tier bundle includes a full day of spy training, a trip to space with Virgin Galactic, one year's membership of E25 Super Car Club, and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
The Million Dollar Pack also includes plastic surgery of the purchaser's choice, a shopping spree with a personal shopper, seven nights for two at The Jefferson Hotel in Washington, a "hostage rescue experience," a brand new Toyota Prius, and a seven-night stay at the Top Royal Suite at the Burj-al-arab with flights for two.
The Saints Row IV Million Dollar Pack is available for preorder at GAME and will be delivered--if it is purchased--in a "truly presidential style," Deep Silver said. Saints Row IV launches August 20

For a $1 million dollars- you could get several chapters!!!!

400th Post addendum

I've received an email from Siph at Sea, and he would like to add the following to our 400th post..

Siph

my favourite bit has been the Warhammer World Battle on the fortress board, looked epic! http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/first-weemen-3way-battle-report.html
This battle saw myself, Siph and 6th battle it out in our first 3 way battle!

Best achievement was prob getting my Drop Pods done!   http://www.weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/relictors-drop-pod-armoury-pics-of-all.html

and for the future....and i quote ' And yes, you are correct…. No wins for me with Relictors in 6th… that will change with new Codex I promise!!' hmmmmm...

Weeman hits 400!

Hi All,

A quick review post- weeman has now hit 400 posts, so we thought we'd do a quick review post so far.

Siph

Unfortunately as I write this, Siph is somewhere at sea, so in his absence I'll highlight his amazing titans, http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/imperial-reaver-and-warhound-titan.html which look stunning and are pretty potent on the field of play. Siph is slowly building a Necron army- which I'm sure will look great. On the battle front, Siph has had a rough time with 6th, with (and correct me if I'm wrong Siph) a single victory- using Lord Halfpenny's Daemon force.. My favourite 'Siph' moment was seeing his army in full during our huge Apocalypse battle http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2011/03/9000pt-apocalypse-madness-picture-heavy.html

Lord Halfpenny

For me, the highlight so far has been the conversion works that I've done, such as the master of the forge jetbike http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/wip-master-of-forge-on-jet-bike.html and skulltaker on a juggernaut http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/wip-skulltaker-on-jugganaut.html as well as my version of the Land Raider Terminus http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/land-raider-terminus-invictus.html
My favourite battle moments, firstly the apocalypse battle between me and Siph where my Ironclad took on a Warhound in CC- firstly it survived a the CC, and survived the apocalyptic explosion that resulted from him besting the warhound! http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/apocalypse-battle-report-4500-pts.html Secondly I will always remember my last battle at BW4, where Fateweaver cast Boon of Mutation on a Tervigon- and the resultant toughness test (requiring anything but a 6, Pete rolled a 6!) was failed and killed the beast along with scores of gants- swing the game to a win for me with the last roll of the dice!
The last 100 or so posts has seen me develop my daemon army- with additions of fateweaver, all 4 greater daemons,  a FW greater Lord of Khorne (to be posted soon) and 3 'lawnmower' chariots of Slaanash. I really think I've worked out a good playing style with daemons- before I would get annoyed with myself if they suffered a deep strike mishap etc- however I've learnt that weirdly that's the way chaos daemons are- random- when it works, and they work they can be deadly- when it doesn't work- its car crash tv at times..
The next 12 months will hopefully see me complete all my daemon bases (I hate bases) then move onto a massive project- my Reaver titan..

The6thdegree

So as I look back over the past 100 posts, I think it was during this period when I really started getting into painting and trying to up my game a bit. I started repainting some of my Nids (http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/repainted-tervigon.html) , dabbled with Warmachine (http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/warmachine-khador-butcher-of-khardov.html) and Malifaux (http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/weekend-mini-project-malifaux-ramos-crew.html) and started my Iron Warriors army (http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/iron-warriors-hellbrute.html) .

I love my Iron Warriors and have been trying to slow-build the army to the best of my currently ability…which is starting to pay off with wins and top-3 finishes at painting comps (http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/iron-warriors-forgefiend.html) and having some of my minis sat on the GW Flickr Homepage for almost a month (meant to post about that and forgot).

It was pretty much over the past 100 posts that 6th Ed came out and I’ve got to so  - I love it. I think it makes for a more fluid game and there are less WTF moments than 5th Ed (like getting a million glances on a Rhino and nothing happening…). Saying that, I think its left Nids in a bit of a mono-build state (psychic powers and hordes of gribblies = good) and as much as I love the Iron Warrior fluff, the CSM codex is a bit…dull…although apparently that hasn’t affected how competitive they are…(http://weemen.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/weemen-at-blog-wars-5.html).

Looking at the next 100 posts, I hope to be able to devote a bit more time to the hobby (new job has killed my free time). Expect to see lots more Forgeworld stuff being added to my Iron Warriors (I am starting to consider making half of it pure Heresy era…) and I am starting to eye up airbrushes and Titans quite a lot (don’t tell the missus). Also – Nids on the horizon!!! I’m hoping the new codex shakes things up a bit and the current rumours floating around certainly make it look like they are – in which case I have a hell of a job to go through an repaint everything I’m not happy with (about 75% of the army…).

Space Marine Rumours Part 2

Further rumours of the impending Space Marine Codex have been leaked, here below are a few of the, with my thoughts.. (thanks goes to http://pinsofwar.com/warhammer-40k-space-marine-special-characters-rumors/ for these)

Marneus Calgar:
  • +25 Points
  • Artificer Armor standard (2+)
  • God of War: May use a single Combat Doctrine twice per game
  • Titanic Might: Re-rolls all armor penetrating hits in close combat. He may reroll glancing hits to attempt to get a penetrating hit. Must accept the second roll even if it is worse than the first.
  • Weapons and Ammo still the same. Terminator Armor still has Frag and Krak Grenades. Retain his Teleport Homer.
  • Terminator Armor is 10 points and doesn’t prevent sweeping advances.Warlord Trait: Rolls 3 times on the Warlord Table, rerolling doubles, and chooses a single Warlord Trait.
I really like the sound of these new rules, no mention if he has the eternal warrior rule (I hope so) I'm alittle upset by the price increase, however it will be interesting to see how the warlord traits for SM's are. I'll still use him- I think the model is great!

Captain Cato Sicarius:
  • -15 points
  • Surprise Attack: +1 to Reserve Rolls
  • Weapons still the same
  • Battle-forged Heros: Pick a Tactical Squad and they gain Counter-Attack, Infiltrate or Scout.
  • May still use the Coup-de-Grace with his sword.
  • Lost Rites of Battle
  • Warlord Trait: Imperium Sword
I've never used Cato in his previous incarnation, however with the price drop, and the fact there is the addition +1 on reserves I think he might be a winner! be interesting to see if he retains his 'feel no pain' armour

Tigirius:
  • -65 points
  • +1 Wound
  • Master Psyker: May re-roll any or all of his rolls to choose which powers he knows. He has access to all the powers.
  • ML3
  • Hood of Hellfire: Psychic Hood that allows you to re-roll failed psychic tests
  • Rod of Tigiruis: Same as before with the addition of Soulblaze
  • Gift of Prescience: If your army contains Tigirius you may choose to re-roll reserves and apply the result to units of the same attachement.
  • Warlord Trait: Storm of Fire
My first 40k character I ever bought was Tigirius, and with the refresh, and will certainly be using him again! the only issue with the previous edition was the lack of EW, or an invulnerable save- with access to all psychic powers he could have- and potentially could become one of the strongest characters in 40k..

Cassius:
  • Zealot
  • All equipment the same
  • Warlord Trait: Angel of Death
Glad he retains the same wargear- I could see them going back to the pistol version for some reason.. I really like the idea of a Calgar/Cassius unit with terminators

Telion:
  • Chapter Tactics: Ultramarines
  • Same points cost
  • Same rules
The points cost were just about right from him, glad he retains the original rules as it made sense to be able to use his high BS on a scout with a missile launcher with the fluff in mind

Sergeant Chronus:
  • -20 points
  • +1LD
  • His vehicle gains It Will not Die
The point drop makes a lot of sense, as I never really thought the points cost was justified, however the inclusion of 'it will not die' makes his vehicle very powerful indeed- my thoughts would be either for him on a Land Raider, or Predator. My thoughts are that the +1 LD is really BS like the previous edition.
thanks for reading!

Possible new Space Marines?

I've been reading some of the various sites, and have pulled some of the images together with some of my thoughts..

firstly, the new 'proposed' tank- I'm guessing this will be a AA weapon system- I really like the look of the tank, and I can see the armour being used on other tanks- whirlwind/vindicator etc.

Next we have the proposed new 'bigger than a terminator' space marine inside a space marine.. or as I like to call them termie-tubbies. I like the look of the devastator versions, but not to sure on the assault ones- looking at the weapon load outs, the dev's appear to have lascannon/heavybolter weapons, with what looks like a missile system in their chests- the assault guys look to have similar weapons to the siege 'fist' that FW produces for dreadnoughts.
How would these play on the filed? my thoughts are that these would be instead of a dreadnought, hopefully with a high toughness, and maybe 2 wounds- these could become a very nasty uber unit, which could retire the normal dev and assault marines..

we have new HQ choices, with a new captain, librarian and chaplain- the captain is very similar to the captain from AoBR, with a different weapon and 'Scirarius' helmet. The chaplain looks ok, however I do like the new Librarian- very similar pose to Stormcaller- as if he is 'shooting' his rod out at the enemy- this release appears to be the release of the 'beard'.
Next up is the proposed new vanguard box- firstly I'm glad of the weapons on the box, so I don't need to re-do my vanguards! which was always a fear, these guys look to have a wide range of wargear, and I hope that these are more than one option for each available in the box- if its plastic..

There are also several rumours about the potential release of several limited release codex's- the next month could be an expense one..

How to Magnetise Decimators Arms

Hi all,

Just a quick follow-up post about how I magnetised the arms of my 2 decimators, so that I can swap them between each model.

This was my first dive into the world of magnetising a model, and to be honest I was a little hesitant to start with. I think it was the combination of the price of the model, and the potential issues if/when I when wrong..

I made a decision one evening on how I was going to tackle the arms, and just dived in!

I've got all of the weapon options (including 2 claws) all magnetised up- the butcher cannons aren't painted at all as the cannons were severely bent when I received them- and I need to re-do the cannons with a rod or similar.

To each arm a tiny earth magnet was added, around 3-4mm in diameter, firstly I drilled a hole into the same side of each arm, around 4mm wide, and 2mm deep for each magnet to fit in snuggly. This was done with the GW drill bit, then the whole widened with a knife (be careful- or ask an adult- I asked my wife to supervise me...) Prior to each magnet being glued in place, I checked the polarity of each magnet was the same.

I then glued another earth magnet- this time a 5mm diameter, 1mm wide into the arm receiving bracket- again the polarity was checked using the arms to make sure it was facing the correct way. This was repeated for each arm bracket. (At this stage be careful not to damage the two recieving brackets- these might break at this stage if you aren't careful- I did this once, it it was a pain to glue back into place.)

I then drill into the weapon mount, and added a piece of paper clip- again this was glued into place- this would be used to prevent the arm from 'spinning' when magnetised- the weapons would point down without this. I then painted the top of the clip, and marked on the arm bracket were to drill into to accept the clip. I repeated this for each weapon. This stage is important to check you are happy with how the weapons 'sit in place'

I hope this makes sense- and please feel free to use these points!

Hopefully my decimators will be finished soon to post the results...
