Warmachine – Khador Widowmakers

Here we have a completed unit of Khador Widowmakers. These guys are a long range sniper unit and are pretty infamous in Warmachachine for their ease of picking off enemy infantry units from afar and damaging specific Warjack components.

I have tried to take inspiration from Assassins Creed by giving them white cloaks (I never want to paint white again!!!) which also fits with their fluff and will make them stand out in a predominantly red army.

I’m pretty happy with these guys – it’s the first time I have had to paint glasses/lenses and the colour white; it’s been a great way to start picking up some new techniques.

…still need to make a decision on the bases…

Warmachine – Khador Man O War Shocktroopers

Its been a while since I’ve posted anything on here – mainly down to how busy I’ve been over the xmas period and getting burned out painting a ton of ‘Nids for Blog Wars 2 back in December.

Since then I have started playing Warmachine (and also picked up Dreadfleet – but more on that at some other time) and me and GreyLamb from Sheep of War picked up the two player battle box – with him taking the high-and-mighty (read ‘douchebags’) Protectorate of Menoth and me taking the glorious forces of Khador.

I’m really liking Warmachine (not that I am thinking of dropping 40K) and my initial thoughts are:

models are roughly the same price as GW but the armies are typically smaller, so less investment up front and you can play a game in much shorter times if you want (we’ve had games last around 45 mins),
a change to a single Warcaster or unit can completely change the feel of your army,
the game system works and has regular releases/updates - which is nice (where's my 2nd 'Nid wave GW???!!!),
I get to play with toys that are unavailable to ‘Nids (like big robots and guns!!!!).

The models are also really nice and I’ve really enjoyed painting them…so first up is a unit of Man O War Shocktroopers.

I am trying to give the army a bit of a cartoony feel although I was tempted to paint in a little battle damage or weather them slightly, but ultimately I get the feeling that the Khador government would prioritise military equipment maintenance over silly things like public welfare...

I'm not decided on the bases yet either; they look nice but a bit dull - I have some decent snow flock I think I will try adding to a test base.

Legion of the Damned Multi Melta Legionnaire

Before I had the Legion of the Damned Squad posted here, I had purchased the Heavy Weapon Multi-Melta Legionnaire to take advantage of the Legion's Slow and Purpseful/Relentless ability and Deep Strike (with re-roll if needed) to get rid of any pesky heavy tanks - looking at you Ultramarines! The problem was then to match the wicked paint scheme. So with a little experimentation and a lot of checking the other members as I went along, I painted this fella to match.

The hardest part was to do a convincing job on the armour flames, but I think they match the rest of the squad quite well. The bone pieces were simply Graveyard Earth base with Bleached Bone and Skull White highlights dumbed down with a Devlan Mud wonder wash. The flames from the base were taken from a spare set on the original Flamer armed Legionnaire, nice 'cos it means they all get some! Metallics were tarnished with Devlan Mud and Badab Black washes, and some Tin Bitz on the MM nozzle. Here they all are together, ready to deep strike and be a thorn in Pornstarjedi's or 6thDegree's flanks! I've scheduled this post whilst away at sea, hope the other two have been posting to keep you avid readers amused...

Black Library - Catechism of Hate *EDIT

The aptly named book, Limited to 1500 copies, £30 is already sold out...

I am feeling nerd rage as I wanted one yet Black Library has sold them all to greedy gits who are now flogging them on ebay for £90 or more... one seller had more than 10 copies, a tidy profit! One seller is selling a copy for £169.

Is this just sour grapes 'cos I didn't get one or more, or should Black Library perhaps ask its registered users first divs on a single copy before selling multiple ones...

RANT over. Back to painting now I've nothing to read at sea... see you in May...ish. Have a lovely easter folks.

Edit* I emailed Black Library and got a response which at least sounds a little more positive:

"It is not Black Library's policy to actively support re-sellers. As it stands there is nothing legally we can do to stop them. That said, I agree with you - the situation is less than ideal. We are currently looking at ways to implement limited supply, which should in turn reduce the amount of re-sellers. This should hopefully be in place for the next limited edition book. Thanks again for sending us your thoughts on the matter"

Relictors Marneus Calgar - Marneus Relicgar

Happy New Year all, thought I'd start the year with a long overdue miniature which I've had as a WIP for sometime. Nothing like a factory line of 4 drop pods to get you distracted by something less boring... may I present you all - Marneus Relicgar, God Of War, Eternal Warrior and a whole big can of whoop-ass.

I converted the Mareus Calgar model slightly to undo all the Ultramarine goodies, skulls were added to the leather straps hanging from the waist, a big 'U' shield was substituted for a spare Skull and Crossbones one on his right pauldron, the Ultramarine symbol on his right gauntlet was filed off and a terminator crux added instead. The 'U' inside the Iron Halo was substituted for a grimacing skull. Only the belt buckle remained,but I just painted the surround gold as well to mask the upper edge. I used a spare MKIII helmet to further differ him from normal Marneus' minis. I think it works well in Grey. The green power cables and the bone colour weapons echo those throughout the rest of my force. Finally a nice purple leaf pattern was added to the edge of the cloak to add some interest. Hope you like.

Relictors Command Squad Apothecary

So I have been slowly plodding along with the previous post project Drop Pods but get easily distracted... This is a product of that distraction. Here is the latest addition to the ever growing Relictor Battle Company, an Apothecary for the Command Squad.

I have had the parts for his backpack for a while now, ever since I got the bits packs for the Fallen Backpacks on my Sternguard, found here, each bits pack came with 4 of these and one Fabius Bile Backpack. So my plan hatched and since these guys dabble a little with Chaos, a perfect blend for my Apothecary with a few plastic enhancements - the helix and the Spotlight.

Christmas Holiday Project - Relictor Space Marine Drop Pods

This year I am home for Christmas, so I thought I'd crack on with this long overdue project, to do some more Drop Pods - so I too can mess up the best laid plans of Pornstarjedi's Ultramarines... he does it every time to me with his 4 Pods!

I think I'll get bored of doing the monotony of 20 this and 20 that, so expect some minor diversions and maybe some building my new FW goodies, Armoured Proteus and a Proteus Landraider, plus getting on with any other unfinished Relictors... but any progress is good progress right?

The vanes have been basecoated so far, and there is a shovel load of drybrushing Boltgun Metal to do!

Blog Wars 3 – Game Three (‘Nids vs. Imperial Guard)

So two games in, against two Blood Angels armies and I am feeling pretty down – what I need now is a decent win to drag my bulbous ass back up the leaderboard.

Third game was against Jon Morrison from the Faulty Dice blog and his Imperial Guard army:

The mission had 5 objectives, special deployment and extra TP’s for holding an objective with your Unique Character.

This was the only Blog Wars 2 mission I tested in advance and I had already decided that I wanted to be the attacker – there’s nothing more pitiful than playing ‘Nids defensively.

I also didn’t look at Jon’s list too closely and when I saw that he was Imperial Guard, I just had an image of me bunkered down and being shot to hell for 4 turns, before he mobilised and grabbed the objectives last turn – I wanted him to be the one sat there while I came at him. It turns out that wasn’t a huge problem as Jon’s list didn’t contain a huge amount of mech.

Being the attacker, I grabbed first turn and deployed aggressively, hoping to get to his lines ASAP. There was a convenient building in the middle of the table where I planned on leaving my Hive Guard – out of sight, but in range of most of the board.Jon set up in the middle of the board opposite me – reserving his Hellhounds.My Turn 1 and shooting from the TFex and Hive Guards wrecked a Vendetta in Jon’s deployment area and killed a few Guardsmen. Everything legged if forward. Jon moved the other Vendetta to my right flank behind some trees and his Storm Troopers jumped out – evidently a few of the ‘chutes didn’t open…*snigger*… Shooting from the Vendetta killed a couple of Hive Guard. Jon’s Orders went on shooting and stupid volumes of Autocannon shots took the Trygon down to 1 wound.My Turn 2 and on the right flank Gaunts were spawned and moved into a position to shoot the Shock Trooper. On the left flank, everything moved forwards and was almost in range of the Guard deployment area. Shooting from the TFex/Hive Guards took out the second Vendetta (killing a Gaunt or two in the resulting crash). Any remaining shots went into Gaurdsmen – but was largely ineffective.

Jon’s turn 2 and movements were made to get into position to take the coming assault. Everything opened fire but after the smoke had cleared, minimal damage was done (the Trygon lost its last wound, a Gaunt screen died and the Swarmlord unit lost a wound or two). My turn 3 and I was in charge range. My thinking is that if most of my army is left and in your deployment area – its already too late for you. I let a couple of small Gaunt broods hang back to sit on objectives and got everything else in shooting/charging range.

The TFex opened fire on Pask in the Leman and it exploded under the single shot. Gaunts fired into Shocktroopers and Guardsmen, softening them for the assault, and the Swarmlord cast Leech Essence – killing a Guardsman and regenerating a wound.In combat, the Shocktroopers were wiped out – as were the Gaurds around the Command Squad. In the centre of the deployment area, dozens of Gaunts fought against dozens of Gaurdsmen (it was really epic …just like some of the ‘Nid fluff!) Jon’s turn 3 and what wasn’t in combat opened fire on the Swarmlord who was currently sat in the open (a wound was lost and a Tyrant Guard died). Things got stupidly intense as Marbo turned up and the entire Command Squad backed-up to be exactly out of range of the upcoming blast – but be able to charge in after (I was obviously praying for a miss and generous scatter). Marbo hit and another couple of wounds came of the unit. Jon then charged his Command Squad into the Swarmlord…much to my amusement. In combat the Swarmlord killed everyone apart from the Unique Characters, who failed to any damage in return.

My turn 4 and everything that isn’t in combat moves to join in. Due to some heinous rolls, Swarmlord only manages to kill one of the Characters its tied up with and the unit takes a wound in return. More Gaurdsmen and Gaunts die in the centre, but they are still locked in combat.Jon brings in his Hellhounds on my right flank and proceeds to wipe out all but 1 Gaunt on the objective over there. In combat more Gaunts/Guardsmen die and Swarmlord finally finishes off the Command Squad (killing Mephiston was easier than that!) My turn 5 and its all about mopping up now. Good ol’Swarmy charges over to a remaining Heavy squad hiding in some trees and wipes them out. In the middle of the Guard deployment area, the last of the Gaurds are wiped out wipe a Tervigon and the TFex join in (I swear the Tervigon killed 1 Guard by sitting on it…). The other Tervigon charges the Hellhound….scores a hit….but only glances so the Hellhound cant fire next turn.Jon’s turn 6 and he only had the Hellhounds left – they move around a bit and shoot the Tervigon – removing a wound.My turn 7; instead of going for the Hellhounds, the Tervigon sits on the objective next to it. The Swarmlord, other Tervigon and Gaunts follows suit on three other objectives. The TFex takes a pot-shot at a Hellhound and manages to remove its weapon.

In Jon’s turn I think he shoots something – but not much gets hurt.

‘Nids win 5-0 (2TPs for Swarmlord claiming an objective) and about 1600 VPs woot!

That was a great game and Jon was a really nice guy and a good opponent to play against. I just think a foot-Guard list probably wasn’t the best match-up for ‘Nids in this mission.

Despite the two previous losses – the abundance of TP’s takes me from near the bottom of the leaderboard to 12^th place overall – which I can live with.

Blog Wars 2 – Game Two (‘Nids vs. Blood Angels again)

Second game of the day was against Matt Greenwood’s Blood Angels. I’m not really sure what happened here…maybe I was drawn into a false sense of security from my previous game against Blood Angels, maybe I got really unlucky, maybe I just played completely crap…? Either way the game did not go well…

Matt’s list was something like:

Stormraven carrying Mephiston and a Furioso Dreadnaught

Furioso Dreadnaught in a Drop Pod

2 x Predator tanks

4 x Jump Pack Assault Marine squads

Baal (of the flamer variety)

My list is here.

The mission was capturing table quarters with a spearhead deployment.

Matt won the roll to go first and deployed everything in the opposite corner. Seeing as how I needed quarters, I planned on trying to control the centre and then spread out from there – so deployed as close to the middle ground as possible whilst getting cover.

Matt then used his Scout move to get the Baal right behind me.

Matts first turn and he spread his Assault Marines out and got his Stormraven and Predators into firing positions. A combination of shooting killed a load of Gaunts and took some wounds off the TFex.

The ‘Nids spread out into a position to meet the Blood Angels and I retaliated to the shooting by taking the turret off the Baal - making it pretty useless. I fired at the Stormraven with the TFex. Nothing happened.

Turn 2 and Matt dropped the Furioso Pod right behind me. The Assault Squads and Stormraven spread out more to try and take control of the 3 table quarters. Shooting from the whole army took the TFex down to a single wound.

I mirrored the Blood Angel advance – the Swarmlord moving left with Gaunts and a Tervigon and the Trygon went right with another Tervigon and Gaunts. The Hive Guard milled around the middle of the table to stay in range of targets. I tried to take the Furioso down with some shooting but failed. With my TFex looking very dead next turn (and not knowing about Furioso’s) I charged the nearby Dread hoping to get lucky…*squish*…I wasn’t.

Turn 3 and the Blood Angels continued their advance – shooting took a wound or two off the Swarmlord unit and the nearby Tervigon. The Furioso charged the Tervigon and managed to kill it with its ridiculous-reproducing-attacks-that-seemed-specifically-designed-to-piss-all-over-‘Nid-monstrous-creatures (as you can tell, I was slightly upset by this). The Tervigon died without striking back, killing a number of nearby Gaunts.

My Turn 3 and I’m 2 MC’s down plus wounds being taken off units all over the place…not good. My right flank continued to advance, but my left flank was all but decimated (there were two small broods of Gaunts milling around). Shooting managed to immobilise the Stormraven while it was still close to its deployment zone – meaning that the other Furioso and Mephiston would have to foot slog it (its not like Meph can fly is it?!).

There was no way I was going to let the Furioso rampage around with that sort of killing power so I threw the Swarmlord at it. The Furioso fell apart.

Turn 4 and Matt advanced Meph, the Furioso and two Assault Marine squads into my right flank. A single Assault squad stayed in his deployment holding that quarter and the another one moved to my left flank. Shooting hurt the Swarmlord and softened up the Trygon for Mephiston to charge in and kill it in a single round of combat.

With my right flank now getting pulverised I ran Swarmlord over as quickly as possible to support. A small unit of Gaunts were chasing around a weapon-less Baal using it as mobile cover. One brood Hive Guards managed to take a wound off Mephiston whilst the other tried to hit the Furioso…but failed to do any damage.

Turn 5 and Matt sent a unit of Assault Marines on my left flank to finish of the Gaunts contesting it. Shots seemed to come from everywhere at the Swarmlord and more wounds were lost. The Furioso managed to get the charge on the remaining Tervigon that I thought I had left out of range. Stupid attacks later and the Tervigon was dead… I think Mephiston and a squad of Assault Marines managed to walk through most of the Gaunts and the Hive Guard that were hanging around my right flank. Mephiston did manage to get Perils of the Warp and lost a wound – small blessings and all that…

There was no way for me to win now; I had the Swarmlord unit with a smattering of wounds left, the remnants of a brood of Hive Guard and some straggling Gaunts. Shots were fired into the nearby Assault Marine squards, but most were saved thanks to FNP. The Swarmlord charged Mephiston (I might not win – but I will take him with me…) and killed him outright with no problems.

The game unmercifully goes on to turn 6.

Matt is now in a position to hold 3 table quarters and with some luck could table me…all the Assault Marines on the right flank move into firing range of the Swarmlord. The Gaunts on the contested quarter are easily dispatched. Every shot from the Blood Angels army seems to go into the Swarmlord – but he stays standing! The remaining Furioso manages charge him…which isn’t clever. Swarmlord kills it and consolidates towards the Assault Marines.

I pull back every remaining ‘Nid and try and hold up in some terrain in my quarter – meanwhile the Swarmlord charges and wipes out a bunch of Assault Marines and consolidates into cover.

*sigh* Turn 7 and Matt literally throws every single shot in his army at the Swarmlord. He’s in cover…but fails its save on the very last wound and dies. I sob. Luckily – that means there was nothing left to fire at my hiding Gaunts.

In my turn I fire off some random shots where I can – but it’s already over.

Matt wins 3 quarters to 1 and has about 1700VPs (I have around 600).

It was a more brutal match than I was expecting…for a start no one ever comes for me first turn, so I was on the back foot straight away. I’m not really sure what I could have done differently either…

The better man definitely won and I didn’t feel as bad when I saw that he came in 3^rd place overall – congrats Matt!

Blog Wars 2 – Game One (‘Nids vs. Blood Angels)

So first game of the Blog Wars tournament and I drew Dave *not that one* Cameron and his Blood Angels. Amusing seeing as how we are friends, but I don’t get to see Dave much and have never had a one-on-one against him.

From memory, Dave’s list was:

Sanguinor

Librarian & Assault Terminators in a Stormraven

Assault Marines in a Razorback

Assault Marines & Apothecary in a Razorback

Tactical Marines in a Rhino

Scouts

Vindicator Tank

My list is here.

The mission was Annihilation with Pitched Battle Deployment and the Unique Character was worth 2 KPs.

I thought this should be a pretty straightforward game and the small volume of Dave’s units and mech should work in my advantage unless I started haemorrhaging KPs (as ‘Nids are prone to do…).

I won first turn and deployed in a line across the board – with Hive Guard and Tervigons on each flank and Swarmlord, TFex and Trygon in the middle bubbled by Gaunts.

Dave went Null Deployment and my first two turns were spent spawning Gaunts (I think I got 3 or 4 broods of 10 before pooping out) and got the entire deployment line to the middle of the table.

Dave’s turn 2 he brought in the Stormraven (with Lib & Termi’s), Vindicator and Scouts in the far right table corner (about as far away from the Swarmlord-core as possible). He managed to take a few wounds off the nearby Trygon with shooting.

My turn 3 and my entire right flank advanced to get in range of the Marines. The left flank advanced – but cautiously in case he deployed in the left corner and made me waste more movement. With shooting the TFex exploded the Vindicator and the Hive Guard exploded the Stormraven; taking an Assault Terminator with it. The Trygon charged the Termi’s but was out of range.

Dave then deployed a Razorback unit from Reserve into the right corner and got the Termi’s into a charging position on the Trygon. Shooting softened up the Trygon a bit more before the Termi’s charged and the Scouts killed some nearby Gaunts. In combat the Librarian and Trygon fought at the same time – the Librarian failing to kill the MC and the Trygon took down a couple of Termi’s. The remaining Termi’s then Stormhammered the Trygon into pulp and consolidated into a nearby building for cover.

My turn 4 and I moved everyone as fast as I could to the right corner, but the Swarmlord, a Tervigon and TFex were lagging around the middle of the table, leaving my Hive Guard, a Tervigon and some Gaunts to fight the Marines. In shooting I managed to pop the Razorback and kill most of the Scouts. Nothing was in charge range.

Dave then brought on the other Razorback and the Sanguinor…guess where? The right table corner… A combination of the Sanguinor and two Assault Marine squads killed the Tervigon on that flank.

Dave is currently winning 3-2.

My turn 5 and I rushed everything I had into the right corner to try and kill anything to even up the KP’s, whilst making sure anything fragile was out of range of the Sanguinor and Assault Marines.

In shooting I managed to finish off the Scouts but only managed to kill a couple of Marines (damn AP4….).

Dave’s turn 5 and he finally brought on the remaining Rhino & Tactical Squad from Reserve. Being eagle –eyed and very crafty, he brought them on in the left corner, disembarked the marines and emptied everything he had into a straggling brood of Gaunts. He managed to kill exactly all of them.

At this point we rolled to see if it went on to Turn 6…it didn’t and Dave won 4KP’s to 3KPs (with about 30VPs in it).

Aaaaargghh!!! F*cking crafty marines!!! Dave played a very good game and it was his tactics that won him the game. By deploying in the far corner, it meant that I never got (the strong) half of my army into combat with him….

I realised I may have messed up by targeting his Assault Marines with my Hive Guard in the 5^th turn instead of Sanguinor – the thought at the time was that Sanguinor would probably have lots of fancy saves, so it might have been easier to take down 5 Marines. It probably wasn’t really – if I had gone for the Sanguinor and he had a couple of bad rolls, I would have walked away with the win.

Oh well - maybe next game.

Blog Wars 2 Round-Up

Hi all – back from Blog Wars and I thought I would briefly let you know how it went for the’Nids:

I had a great day and ended up coming 12^th out of 22 – which I am really happy with; it’s better than last years ranking especially seeing as I only won a single game.

Fellow northerners Grey Lamb (from Sheep of War) came in at 16^th and Dave *not that one* Cameron (friend of Weemen & Sheep of War) came in at 19^th, so we were all pretty close.

Game 1 was against Dave *not that one* Cameron and his Blood Angels; it was good to play Dave because I’ve only ever played him in doubles. He won….the sneaky….person.

Game 2 was against Matt Greenwood (friend of From the Fang) and another Blood Angels army. This was by far my hardest game of the tournament (and possibly of all time) and I got pretty mullered.

Game 3 was against Jon Morrison (from Faulty Dice) and his Imperial Guard list. A very fun game which went in my favour from the very start. ‘Nids scooped a win on that one.

I’ll be posting mini bat-reps over the coming week for each game and as many pics as I can.

The surprise of the weekend? Taking home the bacon for the Best Painted Army!!! I really wasn’t expecting that – especially with so many other amazingly painted armies…so a massive thanks to all who voted for me!

I’d just like to thank the tournament organiser Alex (from From the Fang) for doing another great job and he can count me in for Blog Wars.

‘Nids Blog Wars 2 list

So this weekend I’ll be heading back to the homeland to enter Blog Wars 2 and I thought I would share the list I am taking.

Comparing it to the list I took to Blog Wars 1 (which you can see here), you’ll notice it’s much more functional and hopefully, competitive.

I’ve played a few games with the list and they have gone very well – with target prioritisation being a key factor for my opponents (what are you going to try and take down first and can you afford to let the rest of the army live while you are doing it?).

Despite taking a meaner list this time, I am still going with the intention of having fun and am really looking forward to meeting other 40K bloggers…I just also aim to be less of a walk over this year :)

Somehow, despite deciding on the list some 2 months ago and already having almost all of models, I still have 3 x Hive Guard, the Swarmlord, a Tyrant Guard and 19 Gaunts to finish painting and only 4 nights to do it in….how does this always happen???

The first weemen 3way- Battle Report

A world will die....

A tyranid invasion on the world Colcha has created a chain reaction- the once industrious planet is now a waste land- of death and destruction. Space Marines of the Relicitor chapter were deployed to stop the invasion- however the Relictors also had a secondary objective. To rescue a newly discovered Chaos Relic, found at the site of a chaos temple.. little did they know that another force was on the hunt for the relic...

Objectives

3 objectives were deployed in each 'zone'. The Relictors objective was deployed
Deployment

Relictors- The Relictors deployed within the fortress, the Tryanids positioned themselves as forward as possible. The daemons were split into 2 waves- the luck of chaos was on my side as I rolled for wave 1 to appear first.

Tyranids had first turn, followed by the Relictors- then the Daemons...

Turn 1

Tyranids-

Tyrannofex stunned the Relictors Vindicator
Terrigon 'pooped' out 11 Termagaunts- however it 'pooped' itself out!

Relictors

Land Raider takes 2 wounds from the Tyrannofex via Lascannon
Tyrannofex wounded by autocannon fire from the Rifleman dreadnough- saving 3 shots though!
Marneus Calgar unleashes an Orbital Bombardment-scoring a 'hit' and killing the 2 venothropes and a Prime!

Tyranids

Doom of Manati arrives via deep strike by Pink Horrors, Carnifex behind a Soul Grinder, and Trygon by the Nid Objective. 2 squads of Genestealers are flank marched, and enter behind the Whirlwinds within the Fortress
Carnifex scores 1 Penetrating, and 2 Glancing hits against the Soul Grinder- resulting in destroying all weapons!
Trygon fails to wound the Daemon Prince.
Doom of Manati uses the 'aura' spirit leach on the Pink Horrors- reflected back at the Mystic Pod due to the changeling- DoM increases strength to 10!
Termagaunts charge the Pink Horrors, wiping them out!
Genestealers assault the 2 Whirlwinds, scoring several rending hits- destroying both!

the Inquistors eyes turned a bright yellow colour- as he swung the blade at Marneus- who saw the swing at the last minute ducked, suffering a glancing blow- his honour guards weren't as lucky, as Tiberius beheaded two!
"the powers of Chaos will always win Relicgar" - the Inquisitor imploded, leaving a giant Daemon Prince in his place...

Seeing more Relictors charging towards them, the Chaos Prince took flight, and smashed his way out of the Imperial Fortress... I will have your head Relicgar!!!

Ahead of Blog Wars 2 in December, me and James from The Sheep of War blog tested out our prospective 1750pt lists and a custom mission.

The game: Blog Wars 2 custom mission 3; 5 objectives with set deployments.

GK's won the roll off and chose to be the defenders and let me come to them. I deployed first with the Swarmlord and TFex in the middle of the board screened by Gaunts.

The Trygon, a Terv and one brood of Hive Guard took the left flank and the remaining Terv and Hive Guards took the right flank, screened by a brood of Gaunts.

The Stormraven deployed in the middle carrying Draigo & 5 Paladins and the GKs in Razorbacks took a flank each. The Dreadnought went on the right flank. The remaining 5 Paladins went into reserve.

Turn 1

The Nid’s went first and each Terv spawns around 10 Gaunts without pooping out. FNP went on the Swarmlord and Trygon. Everything pushed forwards across the board. In shooting the TFex rolled snake-eyes to hit the Stormraven, the left Hive Guard were out of range, but the right Hive Guards managed to hit the Dreadnought and remove its Assault Cannon.

All the GKs disembarked but stayed put apart from the Dreadnought and opened fire; the Swarmlord unit and TFex lost a wound and a brood of screening Gaunts were wiped out. The Dreadnought charged into a nearby unit of Gaunts, killing two. There was no point in the Gaunts even swinging back….

Turn 2

FNP went back on Swarmlord and Trygon and the Tervs managed another 10 or so Gaunts each without pooping out (score!). The TFex and Swarmlord slowed their advance to allow a brood of Gaunts to screen them. The left and right flanks advanced and the Terv got into a position to charge the Dreadnought.

The TFex rolled snake eyes again to hit the Stormraven but the left Hive Gaurds successfully managed to remove the Lascannon and immobilise it and the right Hive Gaurds wrecked a Razorback. In combat, the Dreanought managed to kill a single Gaunt, but was then wrecked by the charging Tervigon.

The Paladins in reserve Deep Striked behind the Swarmlord, but scattered into a nearby pyramid. The subsequent roll on the mishap table saw them all destroyed (woot!). The GKs retaliated by mass-firing at the TFex – killing it with Psycannon rends and also inflicted a wound on the Trygon.

Turn 3

FNP went on the Trygon and Hive Guards and the Tervs managed another 10 Gaunts each but both finally pooped out after birthing around 60 Gaunts between them.

The Trygon tried to get into a position where it would be able to charge the GKs on the left flank – but had a pitiful run roll. By now, the right flank had a Tervigon, Hive Gaurds and four Gaunt broods, which enveloped the entire right side of the table and got into a postion where they could sweep to the middle of the board. In the middle, Swarmlord and the screening gaunts moved forward to get into position for charging Draigo and his Paladins next turn. Shooting from the Hive Guards wrecked the Stormraven.

In the GKs turn, the Paladins moved out towards the Trygon and the objective on my left flank – wiping out a brood of Gaunts on the way. The GKs from the left flank consolidated towards the middle of the board to hold the central objective. The GK’s on the right flank moved into cover and shot at the advancing Gaunts – killing all but two of a brood.

Turn 4

By this point I am winning 3-0 on objectives and the GK’s are seriously hurting from losing their second Paladin squad.

Knowing it would only take a lucky wound and Ld test from the Paladins to kill both the Trygon and Tervigon and take my right flank, I retreated them both to just out of the Paladins charge range. I moved the Swarmlord to get into the Paladins charge range, but made sure I kept the Gaunt screen between me and them – I wanted to make sure it was me doing the charging.

On the right flank, the decimated Gaunt brood ran back to hold my objective and the remaining broods got into a position where they could wipe out the nearby GK’s next turn. Two of the GK’s fell from Fleshborer fire from nearby Gaunts. Swarmlord tried to Paroxysm Draigo and the Paladins but failed and so did the Hive Guards attempts at dropping them.

In the GK’s turn, all the GK marines shots were focused on the Gaunts screening the Swarmlord so that the Paladins could get the charge in – but failed and two Gaunts were left standing. Being unable to charge the Swarmlord unit, Draigo and the Paladins opened fire on them, but the combination of cover, wound allocation and passing saving throws meant that a single Tyrant Guard died and the Swarmlord lost a wound.

Turn 5

On the right flank, the Gaunts wiped out the remaining GK marines and every other available shot went into Draigo and the Paladins in the centre…which did nothing. I decided to risk the GK forceweapons and charged the Swarmlord and its last Tyrant Guard into Draigo and the Paladins – but not before casting Paroxysm on them and giving itself Old Adversary. The Swarmlord and Halbard Paladins struck at the same time – but the combination of being WS1 and St4 meant that no GK attacks got through, but four Paladins were killed by the Swarmlord. In a last ditch attempt, Draigo attacked the Swarmlord, but was unable to do any damage.

At this stage the GK’s conceded the game having only 5 marines & Razorback Draigo with a Paladin left (with my Tyrant Guard still to attack in combat).

Summary – a great game for the ‘Nids! I love this list as it really makes your opponent think about target priority…however about a quarter of my list never did anything – I’m looking at you TFex and Trygon! To be fair – I guess if they weren’t being shot at, then it would be the Swarmlord taking the fire instead…

It also shows how hard it is for ‘Nids to kill Paladins and I was really lucky that I didn’t have to manage two squads of them (thank you god of Deep Striking mishaps).

I liked the mission and didn’t feel like the attacker had too much of an advantage – Alex, if you are reading this, you could make it that the player with the most TPs going into the game is the defender; giving the underdog the advantage?

Thank-you for your support and comments over the few years we've been blogging. Here's to more.

Siph is back on Relictor's and has several drop pods to plough through whilst away at sea... although the Chapterhouse Studio's kit for a TRUscale Stormraven has turned up.
Pornstarjedi is finishing basing and painting the Daemon army... before attempting a Reaver or Caestus Assault Ram.
6th Degree is edging closer to completing the Swarmlord... and other gribblies.

"Engine Kill!"... ... Legio Astorum will walk

Please spare a quick thought on this Remembrance weekend for the fallen, whatever Country or ideals they fought for.

Rather poignantly perhaps, or perhaps not (not to make light of it though, I am only too aware of our Forces sacrifices and duty being a serving member still), 'Honorum' will walk again. "Engine Kill, a sad siren sounded like a mourning bell..." at least that's how I felt back in April when I came home to a Reaver in about 30 pieces after a fall. I blogged about it back then (here) but now I am happy to report that mighty Reaver Class Titan 'Honorum' of the Legio Astorum will walk to do the Emperor's will once more.This time it is Pinned and Araldited to the max... and glued at the waist now. I have foregone the ease of transport 2 piece option after it failed at the waist last time, this thing will get it's own travel box made and padded before it leaves my house again! Carapace, Head shell and magnetized arm Fist/Gatling Cannon all removable. Banner by Ron at FtW.

Relictors vs Ultramarines Dreadnought Heavy - 1750pts

This was a Dread heavy list from both sides, randomly, as we had no idea of what forces each other would bring. Relictors had a Master of the Forge with Conversion Beamer (but purely for Dreads as Heavies option), 5 Dreads (2xRifleman, 1xVen, 1x Contemptor, 1x Normal) and a squad of Assault Termies n Godhammer Land Raider. Tac squad w/ TLLC Razorback and some Sniper Scouts. Turn 1 set up for Relictors shown above, waiting for the inevitable Drop Pod assault. The mission was Dawn of War (which we forgot about Night effects but shooting was rubbish anyway), Killpoints (*edit 12 available on Relictor Side, 15 on Ultraside), Scouts spreadout on LandingPad to avoid a Pod landing.

Ultras had a MotF on foot, Sternguard in Pod, 4 Dreads (Ven in Pod, Chaplain in Pod, Ironclad in Pod, Normal in Pod) and some Tac, Scout and Assault Termies in Redeemer Land Raider. Podfest. The first 3 Pods were Lucius Pattern, enabling Assault on Deep Strike arrival - nasty but expected.First turn saw 3 Ultras arrive (he chose 2nd, so Relictor turn was purely movement and lame shooting at only visible target some scouts in bolstered defences) and 3 charging Dreads killing the Relictor MotF and immobilising Relictor Ven Dread (re-rolled a 6 to a 4!) but nothing with Contemptor which was charged by Ultra Ven Dread. Ironclad was short on charge due to Drop Pod scattering (but rules wise we have now decided that actually he may have been in range due to 2" Disembarkation rule from pod edge to back of base giving a few more inches). The picture above shows the result after the Relictor Turn 2 - all deepstriked Dreads dead. Ultra Turn 2 saw deepstrike Dread (in the "Deathwind" normal Pod above) and Sternguard by the Relictor Ven Dread. Sternguard shot a Termie then died horribly in Relictor Turn 3. Ultra Dread landed, shot ineffectively and died horribly to shooting, result shown above. Ultras retaliated by Thunderhammer Charging Landraider, but failed to damage. Ultra MotF was charged by remaining Relictor Termies and died in a flurry of Lightning Claws before they themselves died to the Ultra Termies counter charge. The Godhammer died to MM shot from Redeemer and Ultra Termies died to lots of Rifleman Dakka in turn 5+6. Only a Redeemer survived this end of table and MM was ripped off by the Contemptor ending its only real threat (AV13 dread). Drop Pods were popped to gain the Killpoints (Unit and Transport).

The other end of the table had the Ultra Scouts and Tac Sqd lurking in cover whole game doing nothing. Eventually tarpitting and slowly dying to Relictor normal Dread - no lucky Krak grenades I'm afraid.

So ended a Ultramarine massacre. Turn 1 charge by Ironclad would have taken out the LR, however the LR shooting was poor throughout and was popped later so doubt that would have changed anything. The Relictor counter to the first turn Dop Pod assault with some lucky damage rolls and again on the second turn Drop Pod assault won the game on Relictor Turn 3. I expected drop pods and they don't phase me. I think the points would have been better spent on some more dakka (265pts would have got another LR) and just walked on the edge on turn one. The Ultra Scouts in high building the other side of the battlefield and Tac behind a building did nothing but preserve 2 killpoints but were being whittled down in CC with a Dread. Then it was a case of mopping up... sry Pornstarjedi. Killpoint tally was 10 to Relictors, (Dread x 4/Pod x3, Sternguard, Termies and MotF), more if I could pop two more remaining Pods on turn 7 we didn't play as Pornstarjedi conceeded and 5 to Ultras (MotF and Termies, LR, Combat Sqd Tac and Razorback). Swarmlord WIP – Part 2

I’ve had a busy weekend of pinning, greenstuffing and gluing – but the Swarmlord is built and ready to be painted.

The legs were already built, but I also had to tackle the mandibles and the split tail.

Starting with the mandibles; after digging through my bits box looking for some suitable spikes/horns, I finally settled on the spikes that were included in the Tyrant Lash Whip sprue (typical that it’s the last place I look). These are pretty much the perfect size to have a pair mounted on each side of the mouth – without looking stupidly large. At this stage I also noticed that the hooves have mini talons, so I found some more spikes (clipped from the gaunt armoured shell biomorph bit – ‘Nid players will know what I am on about) and added them.

Next up was the split tail… In my bitz box I managed to find a rounded-tube shaped sprue branch that was the same diameter as the existing tail. I then clipped the end of the tail off of a spare Carnifex tail and pinned that on. Some more spikes and a bit of basic greensuffing and the second tail was done. It was then just a matter of attaching it to the existing tail and using greenstuff to blend the join.

I’m not great with greenstuff – I can pretty much fill gaps and add a little detail, but I a pretty happy with the work here.

I am loving the pose – it looks really nimble and graceful; especially with no other models to give it scale. Put a marine in front of it…Draigo for instance (I bloody hate Draigo) and it looks like it could kill anything!

Everything managed to fit together and despite standing on a single leg – the centre of gravity is bang in the middle, so there is no problem with the models balance.

Next up – basing and painting.

Thought I would give a quick shout out – whilst I am modifying a standard Tyrant to be my Swarmlord; Warfrog is building an absolute beast of a Swarmlord from a range of ‘Nid parts and it is shaping up brilliantly (he's a lot more sklilled than me). Check it out on his blog.

Relictors Landraider Terminus - Sponsons Poll Result

Thank-you for everyone who voted on the poll in the sidebar over the last few weeks, and the majority wins. I will be making triple side sponsons. I rather liked this look when I first saw it so I am glad that is the general concensus too.

I have already purchased a Razorback for the Lascannon Fwd Turret, and a Godhammer Landraider for the body. I have some vent gubbins as well as an aircraft turbofan assembly to make some sort of cooling fan assembly (lots of lascannon generators inside) and Sergeant Relic-taro Chronus will make an appearance as his BS5 and ignore Shaken or Stunned results will be of great benefit!

It will also have the FW Extra Armour kit, befitting of it's Anti Tank role - and it 'beefs' it up a little too.

I'm back to work soon, so when this will get finished I don't know, however I will post progress as it happens here.

New Project - Swarmlord.

My current WIP (as well as painting up the never ending supply of gaunts and making some rather spiffy Mycetic Spores) is creating a Swarmlord. Like anything useful in the ‘Nid codex – there is no model, so I’ll be converting my own.

The Swarmlord is essentially an uber-Tyrant with four bonesabres – so it is obviously going to be based on the Tyrant model and I have already sourced the four boneswords required.

Rather than going for a static pose similar to the Tyrant, I have decided to go for a much more dynamic/fluid pose that befits its WS9 stats. Imagine Achilles from Troy – or Leonidas from 300; powerful but precise. And 20 feet tall with four arms...

I think this is where Finecast really comes into its own; I have been modifying almost all of the Tyrant limbs by cutting, reshaping and pinning and now the model will stand on a single hyper-extended leg (as if in mid leap). With the old metal models – I would have never been able to do this.

Over the last few nights I have been prepping limbs and getting them into the correct positions to match the pose I have in my mind:

The next job is to customise the limbs and greenstuff the gaps. Pics of the finished limbs and a dry-fit pose to come soon!

Weeman 3-way Battle at Warhammer World - first pics

6th Degree, Pornstarjedi and I travelled to Warhammer World at the weekend and battled on the Fortress Table with our 3-way, 3500pt armies. These pics show the Relictor set up.Whirlwinds and Fast Attack poised for the rushing onslaught of Bugs and Daemons, scouts dug in around the objective...The 'Nid green tide approaches. Daemons were of course Deep Striking on turn one, so no deployment pics.Pornstarjedi will be writing up a batrep shortly to post so I won't give anything away to who might have been successful or not. Needless to say, we all enjoyed the battle loads and a few beers, our now traditional game egg custard tarts and a pile of grub in Bugmans Bar. Good weekend was had by all.

Relictors Mortis Pattern Rifleman Dreadnought #2

I've completed my second Relictors Mortis Pattern Rifleman Dreadnought using an Assault on Blackreach dreadnought chassis and two normal dread arms. I've tried to add similar scheme and bits to match the first (seen here, and at bottom of this post) so they are really a matching pair. The arms were designed from the Lascannon Arm, seen above and the Missile Launcher arm using bits from the Aegis Defence Line, Quad Mount Autocannons barrels and ammo bins. The method is described and documented by Ron at From the Warp and is easy to do. In honour of Ron, this one is named "Rhon", (more-like Imperial Gothic spelling), like his twin, "Drax", as a nod to other real nice bloggers who have been an inspiration and source of all things Weemen. The base of both use 28mm scale shell casings scattered about from the twin-linked pairs of Autocannons. And as you can see in the side profile pic above, I've used Melta Gun barrels to lengthen the rubbish short AoBR engine exhaust stacks to mirror the normal dread a bit more. The arms are magnetised as the 'pegs' for the AoBR dread are smaller than the standard arm 'slot', therefore only magnetised arms and the spare AoBR MM and DCCW arms can be used on this dread, Ron gets round this by wrapping some cardstock around the 'stud' - not that this Dreadnought will see any other action other than as a Rifleman - so much high strength, reliable dakka for such a low price, they are awesome. Here they both are side by side, vanquishing Daemons and 'Nids (hopefully) as you read at Warhammer World today at the Weemen 3way. I give you - Brother Drax and Brother Rhon.

So, following the guidance Pornstarjedi posted (to include all his nasty daemons he's bought!) I set about coming up with a list to combat 'Nids and Daemons. The list has to do three things, 1 - to stand up in CC with Daemons and Bugs, 2 - to Shoot high AV Daemon Engines and high T Monsterous Bugs, and 3 - to pie plate large areas of the battlefield. So basically, bring all my toys and think about Troops last! ;)

I'm not 100% on the way I'm going to tackle the 3way- deep striking in between the Nid's and Relictors isn't going to be pleasant experience. My gut says to go out fighting, attacking all sides- however a couple of bad deep striking mishaps (as I've experienced) could be critical in this battle, more than any. Therefore the 'initial' plan may involve setting up an initial landing point in the center of the board and attack from there. As you may have noticed that I do have the units now to field a very nasty 'unit' which from what I've read on various other blogs is pretty fearsome- I'll discuss this further after the battle.

I’m happy posting my list up early because there’s not much I can do about it…my army currently maxes out at about 4000pts, so I don’t have a huge amount of choice in what I can take – but I am happy with what I’ve got. And yes – I know I haven’t posted much whilst my collection has grown from 1500pts to 4000pts….but I am useless at getting round to taking pics. I’ll change. Promise.

There’s no way I am going to talk about tactics ahead of time (not with these crafty guys watching…) – although I am sure the astute readers out there will be able to look at Relictors and Daemon armies and my list and work out what I have in mind…*rasp croak hiss rasp growl* (the ‘Nid version of mwah ha ha ha ha)!

Relictors Whirlwind #2

Here's some pics of the latest addition to the Relictor's Battle Company. I was thinking ahead to next weekends Weeman 3Way at Warhammer World and thought some nice indirect pie-plates would be good bug killers.

The chains and skull motif are common on all of my Relictors vehicles.

The big skull is a cut down version of the horned skull from the Archaic Ruins boxset. The twin Whirlwind had the normal skull icon, these look a little 'meaner'.

Why Veritas? No idea, it began with V, like the other whirlwind Valus, kinda a nod to the German Vengeance weapons? Clever, indirect, fearful, ahead of their time - and the precursor to the space race.

And here they both are, Valus and Veritas, all I need now is the spotter Landspeeder for another Apoc Formation...

Relictors Landraider Godhammer Pattern "Zhiggae"

Hello Readers, this is the latest addition to the Relictor's growing Battle Company, the Godhammer Pattern, Landraider "Zhiggae".

I opted out of fitting the Multi-Melta, I know its only a cheap add-on but survivable anti-tank weapon, however with the PoftMS, I intend aiming one Twin-Linked Lascannon at one target, and the other using the PoftMS at another, so leave the other short range Landraiders, Redeemer and Crusader with the shorter range Anti-Tank Multi-Melta's instead.

The side doors are from FW, I opted to leave the front hatch as the standard kit and will 'bling' the eventual Crusader variant with a nice front hatch. And I have some Extra Armour for bulking out the eventual Terminus, once I can decide where I want to mount the extra single sponson Lascannons... triple side sponson, on top like Pornstarjedis, or FW Razorback turret type on top or Pred sponsons higher up and rear of side sponsons? Any suggestions? But not as the GW stock standard, blocking fire arcs of main armament! Stoopid. Maybe a poll is needed>>>>>>

I've weathered the tracks and surrounds with a bit of stippled mud to match all my other vehicles and as before, the LR has a crossed skull icon on the front (by PoftMS sensor) and some Chaos chains, visually linking her with the rest of my Armoury.

Now this is behind me, what's next... hmmm, maybe another Dreadnought in prep for the 3-way at the end of the month, and to finish of the chassis for the 2nd Whirlwind. And eventually I'll finish of the last squad of Devastators and HQ for my entire Battle Company - just missing these and 3 transports to have a Codex complete Battle Company (plus a considerable lot of extras!)

Weeman 3way- Provisional House Rules

Hi all,

I wanted to put forward some provisional rules for a 3 way battle. The logistics with a 3 way 40k battle are completely different to that of a standard 40k battle between 2 forces. The potential for these battles are infinite- opposing forces being in a position to gun down the opposition as the opposition fight to the death in close combat with the other opposing force- for teams 'dealing with the devil' as short term pacts are made (of course this would never happen in the 40k universe)
As the weeman team are gearing towards the 1st 3way, I thought I put forward some provisional rules, and see what everyone things- all comments are grateful!

I will be covering the following sections in this post,

1)Force Organisational Chart
2) Initial Deployment
3)Who Goes First?
4)The Turn
a) Movement
b) Shooting
c) Assualt
5) Morale
6)Kill Points

1) Force Organisational Charts

For the larger 40k battles, I find the FoC slightly restrictive, therefore for thw Weeman 3way, the FoC will be modified to allow a little more freedom with army lists, but also to prevent a tank heavy/monstrous creature heavy army. Therefore the proposal for FoC as follows:

HQ- 5
Troops- 8
Elite- 4
Fast-6
Heavy-5

From this, there is to be a minimum of 2 HQ, one of which has to be a character from relevant Codices/Imperial Armour, and 4 Troops.

The army lists will be taken from the relevant codex for each army, and can include units from any imperial armour book/FW website (Siph for your contemptor :))

A copy of your army list will be required on the day, for each competitor. Any questions regarding the list can be discussed at any stage of the game. (It is also the plan to upload the lists to the blog in advance) There will be kill points involved, thus points costs are required to be included on the army list.

2)Initial Deployment

For a 3 way the deployment can potentially be difficult to set out, as a table hasn't got 3 long edges- this is helped by the armies involved, Siph and the6thdegree will roll to see who gets which edge, and Jedi will be deep striking onto the board with his Daemons. (a whole lot of pain is coming my way...)

3) Who goes First?

For the 3way, we will each roll a D6, the highest will go first, then the second etc. If their is a tie, then the two combatants will re-roll against each other.

4)The Turn
a)Movement
Movement will take place as per normal 40k rules
b)Shooting
Again the normal rules for 40k will be followed, however an opposition can shoot into combat if no of his/her units are locked in that combat.
Shooting- any shots into combat can hit either opposition, this will be determined once hit rolls are made. A second roll is made for each separate hit this will determine who has been hit. The roll required to each a specific unit is based on the number of models in each unit. Therefore

50/50- to hit unit A- 1,2,3 to hit unit B 4,5,6
33/66 to hit unit A (1/3 troops compared to unit B 2/3) 1,2 to hit unit A (unit B having 2/3 troops) 3,4,5,6 to hit Unit B etc. IE- A space marine is shooting at a unit of 20 bloodletters, and 5 genestealers, therefore there is a higher probability that the bloodletters will be hit.
If the combat is between a character and a unit, then a roll of 1 will hit the character, and 2-6 to hit the unit. (the character will probably be surrounded by the opposition.
2 characters- 1-3 character A, 4-6 character B.

Template weapons- any model hit under the template is hit- however the template must be aimed at a single unit rather than 'in between the two' Models under the template are taken as casualties if saves are failed.

C) Assault
normal 40k rules apply for assault, only the units who's turn it is can assault. plus the unit its in combat with (Player A Vs Player C units, Player B not involved with combat) Three way combat is possible, with rolls made to hit as per shooting (A will number of models in Unit B, vs Number in Unit C) once 'who' is hit, rolls to hit are made. Initiative is used to determine who hits first. However a unit that assaults into a 2way combat can not be hit on that first turn (as the 2 opposing units are busy fighting each other)

5) Morale
As per normal 40K, however in a 3way assault it will be the cumulative 'deaths' in a single round of combat, if there is a tie (IE Play 1, and 3 lost 3 models, to player 2, then both will need to do a morale test- if either, or both fail then they flee. rolls are made to see whether the units are chased and destroyed.

Units retreating, run towards their nearest table edge- if two opposing units flee from combat, then they have to be positioned 2 inches apart.

6) Kill points
Kill points will be used for the battle, as will 3 objectives, these will again follow normal 40k rules, with the following additions
if Unit a, is completely destroyed by player B, then B receives full unit KP.
if Unit A is <50% destroyed by player B then 50% KP is recieved to player B
if Unit A is >50% destroyed by Player B then 25% KP is received to player B
Vehicles have to be destroyed for full KP- to the player who dealt the killing blow,
50% KP for vehicles if the vehicle is immobile (however if vehicle is later destroyed by Player B the player A (player who immobilised the vehicle), then no KP are gained)
The objectives will have 3 different values too. These will be randomly selected, and will be
reveled at the end of the game.

Army lists are to be posted next week, before 27th October.

Lots of new additions to try, and I feel it will be a case of trial and error- but It'll be fun! This isn't Competetive gaming. The only prize is kudos and ownership until the next battle between any of us, of this-If you can make any suggestions of these rules please feel free.

A similar turret to the first but with bigger missiles, just for variation. I will try to do the main body the same as the first too, and then maybe a Landspeeder with a Comms turret for the Apoc Formation.

Relictors Contemptor Dreadnought

Hello readers, thank-you for stopping by.

After I saw this on the FW website, I had to have one. I love it. Now they have many weapons and with the latest publication, official rules - however, how a Heresy Era Dreadnought gets into my post-Heresy era Chapter, never mind the five I'd want (!), would be a problem.

The astute among you will have already noticed the Dark Angel knee pad. Well, since the Relictors (originally the Fire Claws)were formed in the age of Apostasy to protect the Imperium from the Eye of Terror a full 5 Millennia after the Heresy, I needed a link to have a Heresy Era Dreadnought - easy, the fluff (here and here) has my Chapter going around finding Relics and Chaos Relics and putting them to good use fighting the enemies of the Emperor, and they were formed from the geneseed of Dark Angels and Ultramarines, therefore, after coming across a deceased and lost, presumed destroyed, Dark Angel entombed in his sarcophagus, they disposed of the pilot with full Chapter honours and to enable his Chapter and personal honour to live on, and use such a rare and valuable war machine, they repaired and recommissioned the Dreadnought to continue his fight against the enemies of man with another honoured Brother Marine entombed after grievous injuries.This Dreadnought is also attached to the 5th Company and bears the colours, black shoulder guard. His Terminator Honours are on his other knee pad. He is armed with two DCCW for the extra CC Attack and with Storm Bolter and Hvy Flamer. Fleet, AV13 Front Armour and 6++ in CC makes him a worthy adversary. I love this model, and it went together like a dream, one or two very small air bubbles in the resin, however, fully poseable arms, fingers, legs, and feet with straight toes or bent - I've used one of each. I pinned his one standing leg to the base for stabilty and strength. I leave you with a comparison shot with a normal Dreadnought for scale.

Tyrannofex Finished

So in my last post I threw up a step-by-step of how I paint ‘Nid flesh (@ Oni: thanks for the comment – I have tried using just a green wash and then the flesh wash on some Stealers and it looks nice, I think I might use it on a few more models). Time to finish it…

After the flesh is finished, the entire carapace and talons are painted black. The carapace is then painted with purple and green streaks. I keep the paints pretty thin – the idea is not to give a visible streaking or blending, but for the carapace to appear black from a distance – but then change colour slightly in different angles/lights. Kind of like oil or a beetle shell. To be fair – its not 100% how I would like it, but its something that I can practice more with each model painted.

The carapace edges are then drybrushed yellow.

Minor details like tubes/eyes/bony bits are painted, a gloss varnish is applied, the base is painted up and Bob is your too-touchy-feely uncle!

A world will die... part2

Personal account- Inquisitor Tiberius, priority 6-sigma...

I have sent word to the Relictors, a relic of unknown potential has been found, and extracted from the planet of Colcha- however this extraction has come a price. The world has to die- Exterminus will be carried out- The relic was retracted from a chaos temple- a temple which is believed to have the potential to open a warp rift that could spell disaster to the Imperium as we know it- it is only thanks to the immortal God Emperor that the foulness of the warp hasn't disgorged itself on Colcha. I fear that if this was to happen countless lives will be lost- it is believed the temple isn't dedicated to a single Power of chaos- but all of them- unheard of I know if this is true- and unleashed... Emperor protect us....

I have requested the Adeptus Astartes of the Relictors chapter to do me the honour of retrieving the relic for me to study- I will carry out Exterminus- Colcha will die....

A world will die...

Colcha, a planet within the Segmentum Pacificus is about to die, the planet once a planet that thrived and prospered, is on the edge of extinction. The population of near 11 Billion has been massacred to only a handful of dignitaries, the fortunate ones managed to evacuate the planet before the invasion took hold of the planet.

The Tyranid attack started from the south of the planet, genestealer hybrids had infiltrated into the cities, these splinter cells were able to wreck havoc within the city defences, genestealers and Lictors poured into the cities and butchered all that opposed them. The Southern Government proceeded to initiate the full scale evacuation to the North hives. This was the fatalist of mistakes for the once proud Leaders had sentenced their population to death- as the transportation vehicles left the Cities, the noose tighten- hundreds of Tyranids pounced- taking the opportunity to strike murdering thousands of lifeforms, of the 5.5Billion civilians that resided in the southern hemisphere, 34 made it to the Hive central in the capital city to the North.

The Tryanids were part of the Hive Fleet Thorn, the tendril originated from the Southern depths of the Galaxy had already destroyed a handful of world, with only the intervention from the mighty Adeptus Astartes from the Ultra Marine chapter had prevented further worlds from perishing. This world, Colcha has not had any warnings about the Tryanid invasion, the planetary defense force was in no position to defend against the Tyranid onslaught. These forces were ill prepared, and all paid the price. It was as the Tryanids moved North towards the Polar capital city, Lentongrad. Here the planetary governor announced that the world was lost, and asked for help from the Imperial Guard, however this transmission was picked up by an Inquisitor Tiberius, who was on route to the planet after it was discovered that an abandoned Chaos temple had been discovered in the depths of one of the planetary mine shafts, the mining team had found, and brought to the surface a relic of unknown origins.

Inquisitor Tiberius was to follow the Ordos of the Inquisition and administer the killing blow to the World, Exterminatus even before the invasion had occurred- the believe was that the Chaos temple found had the potential to open the a warp rift on the scale never before seen, which could see millions of daemons infesting the Segmentum Pacificus. The Inquisitor had also learnt of the sacred chaos relic that had been found within the temple- Inquisitor Tiberius had a certain 'radical' believe- he always believed that weapons of chaos could be used to combat the forces of chaos, this believe, he found he shared with the Might Space Marine chapter- the Relictors, thus on hearing that another chaos artifact had been discovered he sent news of this to the Relictors with a message.

I intend to carry out Exterminus to the planet Calcha in 2 days, once I have assessed whether any survivors have been corrupted with the taint of chaos.. you have until then......

Weeman 3way

The time has come for the Weeman Crew to gain bragging rights for the next few months, with the first Weeman 3way. The plan is simple, a whole days battle at the home of 40k, GW HQ in Lenton on one of their games table. I will be developing a scenario that will pit the might of the Relictors, against the deadly Tyranids, and the hellish Daemons....

I will aim to have the scenario blogged over the next few weeks, as well as developmental rules for the 3way to see what you all think, and make adjustments as required.

The battle will be a big one, 3000 points each, so there will be 9000 points on the table- all vying for supremacy! I'm aiming to have my new daemon army finished for the battle- I'd better get painting!

Who will come out on top? Who will have their ego's boosted, whilst the others have theirs deflated.... And for the winner- the Golden Daemon trophy- until the next battle!!

WIP Daemon Prince

Hi All!!

Here is a couple of shots of one of my many projects! as revealed a few weeks ago I'm moving away from the Ultramarine Blue, and building a Daemon force. My first models is my Khorne Daemon Prince, a former mighty space marine, that has reached the pinnacle- and has gained full daemonhood- his sole mission now- to gain Skulls for the Blood God...For the model I've added the wings form the DP kit, an expensive upgrade but worth it as it means I can get into Combat quicker.
The plan is to paint the DP's skin red, to represent Khorne, however I'm still undecided with regards the armour- I have found an old pot of 'midnight blue' which might go quite nicely, the other option is to have black armour with a contrasting bright colour within the recesses of the armour- either a green, or a bright red. For the sword I'm planning to go for a deep purple, with a red glow within the recess.The aim is to have the daemon army ready for a WEEMAN 3000 point, 3 way at GW HQ- towards the end of October, (more about this to follow soon... Jedi)

WIP – TyrannoFex/Painting ‘Nid Flesh

Seeing as how I posted some step-by-steps of how I built the TyrannoFex, I thought I might as well post so step-by-steps of how it’s being painted.

This post is about how I paint the flesh on my ‘Nids (that sounds a bit…weird…doesn’t it…?).

After giving the model an undercoat spray of Skull White, I paint the flesh on the model with a custom wash made up of Dark Angels Green and Calthan Brown. The main purpose of this wash is just to give the flesh its green colour as opposed to shading.

If I am painting gaunts, I like to vary the flesh tones so they aren’t all uniform; so will sometimes just give them a couple of coats of this wash and not carry out all the other steps.

After that wash has dried, I give the model a thorough wash with Ogryn Flesh. I really like this wash (although it stinks…) as it gives the flesh an earthy, tobacco tone and helps shade the recesses. I dont pay too much attention to where the wash is going, so long as it covers the flesh. Unless there is a pool that is clearly going to dry too dark, I will generally let it do its thing; this is supposed to be mottled flesh after all, not uniformly painted power armour.

Lastly I give all the flesh a thick wash of Thrakka Green. This takes the model from being brown-ish and back to green. For a comparison of what the other washes add to the flesh effect, I painted the top of the carapace with Thrakka Green directly over the white undercoat.

And that’s it, 3 washes and the flesh is done! Next up - the carapace.

We haven't posted in awhile, so just to keep you abrest of happenings, I am currently working on finishing a few bis and bobs, the spare arm for a Dreadnought, they come with so many options and I think it's nice to have choices.

I've also retro fitted another Vindicator with a storm bolter modelled from a Scout Bike twin linked bolter, see link here of how to.

And I'm working on some Support for my marines in the form of a FW Contemptor Dreadnought. Love this model, but want to buy every version so far! Back to work at sea for a few weeks so you'll have to wait for the finished article some time yet. But to be honest, World Of Tanks has eaten my spare time recently!!!

Pornstarjedi is slowly, very slowly, bringing paint to his Daemons. Hopefully he'll post soon with some lovely pics?

6thDegree is still spawning more 'Nid biomass up in the grim north.

Relictors Assault Squad Detachment and HQ

Continuing the recent Assault theme, this is how the Assault Detachment of my Relictors Battle Company now stands, two full squads and an Assault Chaplain as an HQ choice. As you can see the latter VIII Squad is moodier and darker and uses Chaos Helmets and a splattering of SW Chainswords, Chaos Plasma Pistol and some tattered loin cloth pouches. The former VII Squad is considerably brighter with Bone coloured jets and red chainswords, but I like the differences, portrayed in the Sergeants too.These two need an HQ to lead them into battle, so there is no better cost effective battle leader chioce in the SM Codex than an Assault Chaplain (IMHO), Liturgies of Battle for re-rolls to hit on the Charge and making the squad Fearless coupled with Digital Weapons himself for re-rolls to Wound with his Power Weapon Crozius - lots of hurty death to deal out.Will be back soon with some more heavy firepower...

Relictors Assault Squad VIII

So with the completion of the last two Assault Marines at the weekend, I thought a completed Squad photo was only fair. These are the darker, moodier squad compared to the VII Squad. Now I have enough Assault Troops to cause anyone a big problem.

This Squad has a Flamer and Plasma Pistol Special Weapons as well as a PowerFist and Combat/Storm Shield wielding Sergeant - enough to cause anyone to think twice.

WIP – TyrannoFex

Hey all – I thought I would show you all my latest project that I’m working on as part of operation “One-a-Month”. Funnily enough, operation “One-a-Month” involves me adding a something new to my ‘Nids army every month.

This month I have set myself the task of building and painting a TyrannoFex.

The TyrannoFex is essentially a super Carnifex, with 6 wounds and a loadout of bio-weaponry that includes a S10 Assault 2 cannon with a 48inch range. Being a bit of a hulk; it’s great for stomping forward, popping mech on the way and generally causing mayhem up close.

It’s also another popular unit that GW doesn’t have a model for – so I set about making one. Annoyingly, the only official artwork for the unit I could find is below.

Before I started the conversion, I had already decided to use a Carnifex as a base (what else is there really???) and tried to capture what I though were the key aspects of the TyrannoFex:

the size,
the pose,
the Rupture Cannon (the big gun stuck out the front),
the legs/Rupture Cannon arms,
the triple set of vents along the back.

Scouring my bitz-box for parts, I think I ended up being able to capture essence of the creature using the Carnifex kit and parts from Hive Tyrant and Trygon kits.

I was able to make the model larger than a standard Carnifex and give it a hunched pose by extending the waist using a 2cm tube of plasticine (I didn’t have enough GS to use for this – and I have previously used plasticine to bulk out sections and it worked fine).

The Rupture Cannon was made up of the MC Adrenaline Gland (with legs snipped off), the side barrels from a Barbed Strangler and carapace parts from the Trygon. The tubes connecting to the arms are also from the Barbed Strangler. The gaps were then filled with GS (my GS skills aren’t great – so hopefully the paintjob will cover any crap sculpting).

The middle vents on the back were taken from a spare Hive Tyrant torso I had lying around and pinned/GS’d into place.

The rear legs are standard Carnifex legs with one cut and remodelled to be stepping on a rock and the Rupture Cannon arms are MC Scything Talons (with the talons removed) and placed upside down.

Overall, it’s not the best TyrannoFex I’ve ever seen and it would be nice to have been a bit larger, but I think its one of the better conversion pieces I have done.

All that’s left now is finishing the basing (just needs a few more rocks) and it will be ready for a lick of paint.

Warriors of Chaos – Marauders

Next up in the WoC army are the grunts of the Children of the Crimson Tide; the Marauders.

Marauder front rank (of a unit of 20)

Whilst not as good as Chaos Warriors (but who are…?), you get enough of these guys in a room and they suddenly become pretty scary! In a recent game I used a horde unit of 40 with Great Weapons & Mark of Khorne and they didn’t disappoint. Well…I say disappoint…unfortunately the mission used random deployment and they were out on one flank and my High Elf opponent avoided them for most of the game. When they finally got into combat, they hacked through the unit of 20 odd White Lions (???) in a single turn of combat.

I built the unit of 20 back in January and has been another on-off painting project that I only got round to finishing recently. As such – I armed them all (annoyingly) with Hand Weapons and Shields before I realised how good Great Weapons are. I have another unit that I have converted to Great Weapons that need painting.

Sticking with my fluffy-theme that the Children of the Crimson Tide come from a region of the wastes in perpetual dusk; all of the men have pallid greyish skin tones that will run throughout the army.

Relictors Assault Squad pt6 - 2 more marines

The slow progress has made some headway last week with the completion of 2 more Assault Squad Marines, these are number 7&8 from Squad 2. Only two more to go until I can then progress with the final squad of the whole 5th Battle Company, Relictors Chapter - a second Devastator Squad.

The marine on the left has a bionic arm and the marine on the right has had a slight arm re-modelling to get a nice open aiming pistol pose, this was just a wedge shape piece of plastic sprue placed in the armpit to get the desired angle.

Warriors of Chaos – Chaos Knights

Next up are the elite of the elite cavalry units – Chaos Knights.

These bad boys have actually been half painted since January, but I’ve only recently got round to finishing them off. The horses and bases were all done in a batch months ago, and the riders were painted in a recent batch.I need to get some more inspiration for my banners; I have liked the effect I have got from drawing directly on the banner with a fine pigment pen and then washing over it with a couple of coats of Devlan Mud, but I need to find some Chaos Undivided scrawl/images to replicate. Any suggestions are appreciated.Top tip – Paint the horse and riders separately to avoid having to get your brush into awkward places. I drill a hole under the rider and mount it on a champagne cork (or similar) with a straightened paperclip. Makes painting easier and gives an excuse to legitimately drink lots of booze.

I’ve used at least a unit of 5 of Knights in every game I’ve played and am always pleased at how resilient and deadly they can be – especially as they have a giant target painted on them.

Warriors of Chaos – Chariot Fail

Here is one of my latest additions to the Children of the Crimson Tide…a Chaos Chariot.So far, this is the largest piece in my WoC army as I have purposefully not gone out and bought any Hellcannons or monsters yet. As such, I wanted to make a good job of it.Painting the model was pretty fun, and I split it up into the horses, base, chariot and riders; painted them all separately and then assembled. This was much easier than assembling and then painting as I would have never gotten into some of gaps.

It was actually looking like one of the better models that I had painted….until I gave it a coat of Citadel Purity Seal...which frosted badly and ruined the model. Rather than take it apart, strip and repaint – I did the best I could to fix the problem. Apparently the frosting is caused by micro-pitting in the Purity Seal coat, so that light is not reflected and it leaves a horrible cloudy-matte finish. I managed to get it looking half decent by giving the model a coat of watered down Citadel Gloss Varnish. It’s not perfect, but it will have to do for now – I guess I could remove the riders which are the worst offenders and convert it into a Chaos Shrine at some point.

Relictors Contemptor Dreadnought - WIP

As soon as I saw this on the FW website I knew I was getting one, I love it. Some people say Meh, but I went Yeah!!! It is a Heresy Era build but my Relictors were not formed until after that from Ultramarine and Dark Angel gene stock way later in the Age of Apostasy, one of the 20 or so Chapters drawn up to defend the Eye of Terror, the Astartes Praeses Chapters. (Fluff)But I am sure the Relictors would have come across Relics (its in their name!) to put to use against Chaos. Maybe this was a reclaim from one of the fleeing Traitor Legions... might have to include one of the Legions markings on a knee or shoulder or something along those lines? Suggestions welcome.

The kit is very multi part, feet, greaves, upper legs, knees, elbows, hands, waist, hips, torso, engine, etc all poseable. Great for modelling in dynamic poses - hopefully i've captured a charging pose as this Dread gets Fleet as well as twin DCCW's if you want! Plus an 5++ save from Shooting and Explosion attacks.

Two sets of feet are included so toes can be straight or bent on either leg and Hvy Flamer and Storm Bolters are included with the arms. Ive pinned him to the base for strength, him being all on one foot.

Anyone else getting one of these?

WIP pornstarjedi new army

Hi!

its been a while since I've blog'ed anything, due to a number of reasons- however, like a Necron lord- I'm back!!

I've been pretty busy with a number of projects on the go, however I'd thought I'd share my current project, which had a run out over the weekend against Siph's Relictors.

SO the new force---- daemons!!

The decision was made a while ago to try something new, and to see how the force develops, I also wanted a force with lots of flexibility, whilst having the autonomy to be able to paint/convert as I felt fit. I did consider Chaos Space Marines, however having spent years painting power armour I decided not to go in that direction (yet)

I've gone headstrong into the army, and built a sizable force- (2670 points) some of these have been purchased via eBay, thus will need stripping, and starting again.

Below are some of the WIP, and I'll post as I complete these.....

Daemon Prince, undercoated 2, of the 6 flamer squad, all in finecast. 5 bloodletters, of a 20 man squad- including a 'chaos icon' of a Relictors marines helmet...3 Bloodchrusher units3, of a 15 man plaguebearers squad. These were given to me by Siph...Soul Grinder number 1, Soul Grinder number 2- additional 'claws' given to bulk the model up further.5 man Seekers, I've also got a 10 man unit of pink horrorsSkulltaker on Juggernaught of Khorne- I also have the Skulltaker model in finecast on foot2 Bloodthirsters, the model on the right has 2 axes, and can be used to represent Skarbrand

The last few images are the eBay purchases- the plan is to re-paint these, and pin the wings/skulltaker into place. There are also 5 fleshhounds.

The force is developing quickly, so its time to start painting.. I'll post as the army develops!

Warriors of Chaos update – Chaos Hero

Hi all! I thought I might help Siph by throwing up a few posts about what I’ve been up to recently.

Back in March, I wrote a post about starting a WFB Warriors of Chaos army. Well with Blog Wars a few months back and friends starting Grey Knight armies, my focus has mainly been on 40K, but I have recently got round to painting up some more WFB…et voila!

I am sticking with the Red/Gold theme for the entire army. In my head, it is Chaos Undivided, but it also doubles nicely as a Khorne dedicated army if needs be. It’s a nice change not having to paint tons of gaunts – although I do have a box with a couple of dozen Marauders that I need to get through.

Relictors Assault Squad pt5 - Marine

Progress on the last 5 Assault Marines for the Battle Company is somewhat slower than I'd like however I seem to have a mental block when it comes to Jump Packs, they just don't interest me but are a large part of each Assault Marine... anyone else have this block?

Magnetizing Drop Pods - WIP

I am currently basecoating a number of Drop Pods however, one drop pod I want to be for a Dreadnought. So, to make it different from the normal drop pods I will leave out the central column and harnesses. However, this gives me an opportunity to use the same Pod as a Deathstorm Drop Pod if so desired.

To enable the swopping of such a large Missile Launcher Assembly, the pod will have to come apart. Above you can see the magnets for the five 'fins' and magnets drilled into the floor for attaching the central Missile Launcher Assembly. The FW Deathstorm pod comes with a sensor assembly for the deckhead and 5 sensors that go into the deck slots - both of these can remain when the pod is a Dreadnought Drop Pod and differentiate it from a standard troop Drop Pod. The magnets I am using are quite strong, but the resin is quite heavy so 5 were needed to hold it firmly and also for asthetic reasons when absent, the magnets on the decking will be equally spaced.

Above you can see the magnets in the fins. Number one tip for magnetizing things is check the polarity of the magnets. Every fin magnet is the same polarity so the final assembly can be attached any which way. The slots on the base where the fins attach also need a little filing so the fins are not such a snug fit - the magnets will do the holding together, not the plastic parts and I want to be able to put together and take apart with ease.

The magnets were glued into place and for extra security, spare pieces of sprue were glued on the underside of the deck, therefore providing another surface to glue onto.

Slowly does it with this project, drop pods have a bigger surface area to paint than a Landraider I reckon! These are currently at the undercoat / basecoat stage. I have some Assault Troops to do first...

Relictors Devastator Squad Finished

This is the MKIII Iron Armour Devastator Squad complete. Here is the Sergeant and the heavy weapon troopers. I have used two FW Heresy Era Missile Launchers as well as two modern ones.

There are a number of little conversions throughout these troops, namely wrist guards and such like. The photos below show these a little better. Firstly, a MKIII Wrist Guard on a MKVII plastic arm, simple but effective.

Next, the two FW Missile Launchers and the Trigger Guards I added to MKIII forearm and the MKVI shoulder/elbow that come with the MLs to get the correct angle. The left arms have also had MKIII wrist guards added.

Here is my version of a Devastator Backpack, only one vent moved unlike the FW double vent swop.

Then the Missile Silo Devastator Backpack added to a MKIII pack. Here the frosting is noticeable, but as it is Iron Armour, I will live with it. Simpe Green and Fairy Power Spray would not get off Army Painter Primer. And he has an extensive rebuild of a modern ML and power cable onto a MKIII arm and shoulder pad. You wouldn't have noticed if I didn't point it out - but look at the above marine with modern ML - he has the only MKVII pad in the squad.

And finally, the Sergeant has a FW Boarding Marine Helmet, a Capt Relic Blade (just Power Wpn), a Banner and again MKIII Wrist Guard added. He also has a Signum added to the banner top.

Hope you like and feel free to comment - except about the frosting - honestly I tried to get rid, but unless I scrapped 5 marines and started again, it was here to stay.

Relictors Devastator Squad - First Five

This is the first half of the Devastator Squad now finished (well working on last Missile Launcher today), but I guess the more boring half... only bolters.

These are lovely sculpts from FW, but each marine has over 200 rivets and stupidly my army scheme means they are painted boltgun metal, not Grey like the armour - 2000 rivets later...

I chose MKIII Iron Armour for the first full squad of Devastators in my Battle Company as I thought it was awesome and too chunky for Assault, even though the fluff has it for just that - Boarding actions on spaceships. However, I figured as Heavy Weapon troops they deserved Heavy Armour.

They are 10 man squads to complete my Battle Company but will probably only be smaller squads for actual battles, the spare marines can 'counts as' Sternguard until I've finished a full squad of them. The second half of the squad has all the conversions and missile launchers talked about here. I'll be posting as soon as I've finished the last marine.

Relictors Tyberos the Red Wake

Here is the latest addition to the Relictor HQ slots, Tyberos the Red Wake - an awesome Close Combat monster with either Lightning Claws or Chainfists, Furious Charge and Rage.

He is the FW model painted to match my other Terminators with a Black Templar icon on the top befitting of his status as a Chapter Master. He also gives the army wide benefit of Furious Charge and rage to any units if they assault and then win. Also a single squad of Lightning Claw Terminators can become a Troops choice.

I added a ripped Ultramarine pauldron to the base as I always get to battle Pornstarjedi's loyal lapdogs...

Relictors Pedro Kantor

This is my new Pedro Kantor, like the Legion Of The Damned, another ebay purchase but which I have then re-painted the armour and changed a few things to make him a Relictor. Original and all the hard work by Animatronica (Warseer Thread here).

The shoulder pad was crying out for something above the Skull, however another Skull Chapter Badge was out of the question, so a First Company "I" was painted instead, as game wise he'll be leading the Sternguard squads made of First Company veterans.

This mini is a great scupt and I really enjoyed reading Rynns World from Black Library to get a picture of poor 'ol Pedro and his struggle. The Relictors welcome him with open arms to bolster their numbers...

Magnetized 40K Turn Marker

Just a short post with something simple, I often lose track of what turn we are on in a battle, is it turn 4 or 5, or what do I need this turn for Reserves roll? So, I dug out the turn marker and painted it. I've magnetized the arrow so it doesn't come loose.

The colours I chose reflect the colours of my Relictors, simple but a lot better than the garish green plastic I reckon. Just a simple way to make my games a little more enjoyable. Thanks for reading.

Relictors Landraider Achilles 'Maximus'

I've just finished a new addition to the Relictors Armoury, with a rare and ancient Landraider design, the Landraider Achilles. This is a FW and Plastic kit with two twin-linked Multi-Meltas, a Thunderfire cannon (awesome fun) and I've added a Hunter killer for first turn shooting when the main (edit: Multi-Melta) armament is out of range, but at 335pts - expensive but totally worth it!The latest battle between Relictors and Pornstarjedi's Ultramarines saw it shrug off Melta fire (Ferromantic Invulnerability - no 2D6 Pen Melta or Lance effect) and Thunderhammer hits (AV14 - needing 6 to glance) and even when penetrated, a minus 1 modifier to the damage result meaning it will never explode (except from Destroyer weapons!).It has no Assault doors so disembarkation is normal and has a troop carrying capacity of 6 - enough for an IC and Honour/Command Squad! Anyway, hope you like. I need to add an honour marking to his flank for being tank of the match! Or for just being awesome. Edit: I have now added the normal weathering to the tracks and track guards to match the rest of my Relictors tanks.

Blog Wars Game Two: Relictors vs. 'Nids

The game – Annihilation/Dawn of War

By both of us getting tabled disastrously in our first game (on purpose…honest), the ‘Nids and Relictors got faced up against each for game two! This is great because we’ve never actually played against each other.

Anhilation – that’s good, my general tactic is to munch on my opponent. Dawn of War – awesome! Less chance of getting shot first turn! My tactics were simple; avoid the assault Terminator filled Land Raider, snipe with the Hive Guard and rush with everything else.

Siph gets first turn, so I decide to just play the Tervigon from the start and bring everything else in 2^nd turn (barring the outflanking Genestealers and Deep Striking Doom). The Tervigon hides behind a building.

Siph 1^st turn:

I decide to stay at arms length and get a few shots in to whittle the gaunts screen and brace myself for the 'Nid rush. Drop Pod assault into my own baseline so I can add the Sternguard firepower to the rest of the army.

t6d turn 1:

For the first game in eight, the Tervigon births about 8 gaunts and doesn’t poop out on the first turn (Just my luck-Siph). She then casts Catalyst (FNP) on itself and resumes hiding.

Siph 2^nd turn:

Ineffective shooting but move Redeemer up, need to close on his big bugs to swipe them. Take a few pot shots at Trygon and wound it with Attack Bike MM.

t6d 2^nd turn:

I forget to roll reserves.

The cavalry turn up en-force. Octomum spawns another 8-10 gaunts successfully and casts Catalyst on the Venomthrope & Tyranid Prime unit.

The Trygon Prime and Hormagaunts take the left flank ready to race forward. The unit of Hive Guards are completely hidden in cover near the middle of the board.

The gaunts form a large screen in front of the bulk of my army and everything pushes forward.

The Hive Guard take some pot shots at the Rhino on my left flank and wreck it straight away and somehow flips onto its side! The surviving passengers huddle into cover behind it. Everything else has run so there’s not much left for me to do.

Siph 3^rd turn:

Can't really remember. My right flank troops in rhino have a pot shot at Trygon as does Missile Launcher troop in ruins and Attack Bike and Rifleman Dread. Wounding it again - I will get it. Assault Troops in flank attack his Horms and inflict good casualties.

t6d 3^rd turn:

I forget to roll for reserves again…

Hexadecamum spawns another 8-10 gaunts without pooping out! Catalyst goes onto the Venom/Prime brood again.

The Horms combat the Rhino survivors and start killing and the Trygon Prime tries to reach the nearby squad at convenient head height..but fails and is left in no mans land.

The large brood of gaunts advance up towards the marines in the middle of the board whilst the smaller broods of gaunts craftily stay closer to the advancing Land Raider. Everything else marches behind.

Shooting from the Hive Guards kill a few marines on one flank and shots from the main advance maybe kill one or two marines in the in the middle.

Siph 4^th turn:

Raider tank shocks the gaunts and they move – the Terminators shoot one of the smaller gaunt broods and then assault. Dangerous terrain from the Venomthropes, Counter Attack and Poison from the Tervigon mean the gaunts kill most of the Terminators…but not the chaplain I think. I think this is where Tigerius charged the Carnifex’s not realising how tough they are and died. I was silly to do this, might of the ancients or not.

I shot up the Trygon and kill it. The Horms lost in combat against Assault Troops and Tactical Marines and because the were out of synapse ran off. I overran them killing all of them. Freeing up the flank - until the Genestealers may arrive...

t6d 4^th turn:

I weep for he fallen Trygon and Horms but rejoice the super gaunts! I finally remember reserves and the Stealers enter the game by the wrecked Rhino to finish off after the Horms. Doom arrives in centre of Siph's lines but his 'Orbi' misses and inflicts a wound on his own Pod.

Triacontamum gives birth to another 8 gaunts and finally poops out…good going! Catalyst goes on the Venom/Prime brood again. She then tries to charge the empty Land Raider but comes up short.

On the left flank the Hive Gaurds kill the last of the marines out of combat and the Stealers almost finish off the marines (two slippery ones get away).

In the centre the Carnifex brood wipe out the Chaplain in a horrendous barrage of fire. Termi armour or not is not going to stand against 24 shots!

The last of the Terminators are taken out by the super gaunts in combat.

We are running out of time now – and I know I don’t have the time to table Siph and he has some armour still in the game. What worries me is the fact that I had more Kill Points to give up in the first place…this could be close.

Siph 5^th turn:

Redeemer flames a bit and shots a bit, Rifleman adds his weight but fail to take down the Tervigon. Troops next to Doom think, hell, kill it and charge, losing 2 through Leech.

t6d 5^th turn:

Doom kills off the Troops in CC with Leech. Catalyst goes back on the Venom/Prime brood.

The left flank is largely mine now, in the middle the Tervigon finally gets the charge on the Land Raider and wrecks it (getting hurt in the process).

The Carnifex twins shoot up some more marines from afar and the Doom almost wipes out a marine squad with Spirit Leech and Cataclysm.

We call the game at this point.

End score: ‘Nids 10KP’s and Relictors 8KP’s (VP’s were about 1100 to 700).

Siph summary:

Tried to keep them at arms length and shot them up bad. I had some poor shooting when I needed it most against big bugs but that said the big bubble of screening Gaunts was a pain. I used up lots of dakka on little bugs but failed to kill the big nasties with the KPs, except the Trygon - I loved shooting that up, and freeing that side of the board until infiltrating stealers chewed me up. I've never played 'Nids and loved every minute of it, Tigurius is a poor choice of IC for this battle but that is what I had. I need more dakka, the non-competetive build showed on this battle, I was seriously lacking long range fire. I don't mind closing on most foes with bolters and power armour however I don't like closing on 'Nids!

t6d summary:

A great game! And in hindsight it was deceptively close:

If the Dread had shot up the Venom/Prime brood on the last turn, with that amount of firepower it would have killed them and yielded 2 KPs for the draw.

Tigerius was unlucky not to activate his force weapons when charging the Carnifex’s – if he had, they would probably have both died.

Ulimately, the Tervigon was my star; birthing 38 gaunts and then boosting them enough to take on assault Terminators! I cant wait to play against Siph again soon...but get the feeling he might be gunning for me a bit more next time.

‘Nids at Blog Wars

Apologies for the lateness (I left for holiday straight after the tournament) but here’s a rundown of how the ‘Nids fared.

First off – I got all the painting done with one evening to go! It was a bit of a slog in places and I had to rush a couple of pieces that I would have preferred to spend more time on…but it’s good to have a fully painted army. The list I took can be found here.

Overall I came 19^th out of 26 (with Siph coming a close 20^th and pornstarjedi 24^th) which isn’t too bad to say I had 1 win and 2 losses.

Round 1: ‘Nids vs. Dark Eldar

My first ever tournament game was against Venerable Brother from Sons of Sanguinius, his list was this. I’ve never played against DE before but knew they had poison on too many units for my T6 creatures liking…

The game was Capture and Control/Spearhead. I placed my objective in my corner and set up to go first. I created a large blob with the Hormagaunts and Trygon Prime on one flank. The idea was to just sweep the entire army in one piece across the board and overwhelm the DE. They are pretty brittle – so how hard could it be?

I got completely annihilated. VB played a perfect game starting with stealing the initiative and sat out of my reach using Dark Lances/poison to pick off anything that had a strategic value to me. My mass of screening gaunts got caught up on terrain and stalled the advance of the rest of the army – leaving it floundering. The Tervigon pooped out on the first turn L. VB then went on to pick apart the rest of my army and I was essentially tabled by turn 3.

No hard feelings though; VB played an awesome game and it was honestly great to watch the DE be played exactly as they should be; fast and deadly. Oh – and VB also happened to go on to win the tournament…

Round 2: ‘Nids vs. Relictors

Second game I got paired up against Siph’s Relictors! So there will be a separate post about that game.

Round 3: ‘Nids vs. Black Templar

The last game of the tournament was against Brother Loring from Kirbys Blog and his list was here.

A Terminator-heavy foot list looked very interesting and different from any other SM lists I have played. Unfortunately my recent experience against Terminators has made me very wary of how tough it is for my ‘Nids to get though Terminator armour.

The game was Size Ground/Pitched Battle with 5 objectives spread evenly across the board.

I set up first again in a similar way to Game One to try and meet the Black Templars head on. BL set up with a very imposing core of 3 Terminator units.

My plan (as cheap as it was), was to kill his 2 troop units meaning he would be unable to score and objectives and my abundance of troops (depending on the Tervigons mood) would force BL to have to table me to win. I think BL realised this as he kept his troops relatively protected.

I can’t remember many details of the game, but the Tervigon pooped out on the first turn…again. BL managed to make an insane number of saves compared to my measly rolls. The assault Terminators advanced aggressively but the 2 remaining Terminator squads were played defensively. If BL had pushed these forward to meet me head-on, the game would have been over much sooner than it was. Ultimately it was a bit of a bloodbath and the game came down to BL needing to kill my last unit (which were sat on an objective) in his 7^th turn assault. BL managed it and snatched victory! By far the closest and nail-biting game I have ever had and Brother Loring was an excellent opponent.

It was a great tournament and I’m glad it played out like it did – for how many MEQ and IG players that attended, I was lucky that I didn’t have to face up against any vehicle heavy lists (which would have gone terribly).

My list worked as expected; it was fun to play with – especially the double Carnifex combo, but not competitive in the slightest. The Tervigon has now pooped out first turn on 7 of my last 8 games and the Trygon is a slithering target. Ultimately there was nother that was hard hitting enough and very little in the way of redundancy.

I am already working on a more competitive list to bring to the next Blog Wars… Overall I had a great day and many thanks to Alex from From the Fang for organising.

Legion of the Damned Squad

Not my own work but a rather cool ebay purchase i saw through Warseer (Animatronica thread here) and had to have. The cost was offset by selling my own unbuilt squad and another squad boxset I won through Heroes of Armageddon weekly draw (go donate to this great cause), so next to nothing really! I tried them out this week versus Pornstarjedi's Ultramarines and they ate through a Sternguard squad and Termi Assault Squad with help from Pedro Kantor before dying to a charging Marneus Calgar and more Assault Termies.I love the relentless aspect so the squad will get an additional Legionnaire with Multi Melta which I'll paint to match, shouldn't be too hard as i have these for reference. Their 3++ save is awesome and kept them in the fight for ages.

I changed their bases to match the rest of my army but kept the cool flames on the bases and have an extra one I took from the Flamer armed Legionnaire for the new MM Legionnaire. Also changed the Sergeant's bolter to a bolt pistol to make it Codex legal before I read a FAQ which says he can replace Boltgun and/or Bolt Pistol for Powerfist, oh well - kinda like the old style Bolt Pistol, so it stays.

A great addition to the ever growing Relictor force...

After the amazing event, that was Blog Wars 2011 I thought I'd share my pictures of the event.

My three battles during the day saw the might Ultramarines taking on 2 different Grey Knight forces, and Space Wolves. I found the battles interesting to see how other marine players play as appose to Siph and his Relictors.

My force selection raised a few eyebrows, 2 land raiders into a force of 1750 points, plus 2 terminator squads and Marnes Calgar used the majority of my points, however all competed well and it wasn't until the 3rd battle that both land raiders were destroyed.

WIP Devastators - Converting MKIII Iron Armour

I'm in the process of making a 10 man Devastator Squad using the FW MKIII Iron Armour, 'cos I think it looks like the armour a Devastator Marine would want. I have finished 5 and started the next five. However, just a litle pic above to show you all the hard work in the prep stage you probably wouldn't notice in the finished stage.

The FW Rogue Trader-esque Heavy Weapons only come with MKVI arms so I had to convert the arms to MKIII with the distinctive wrist guards by filing a MKIII wrist hollow with a curved file until left with just the armour plate. With a little bit of filing off detail on the MKVI arm, they come together nicely. Add the trigger guard to a whole MKIII wrist on the firing arm and voila.

A spare plastic MKVII arm got the same treatment but the newer shoulder pauldron will remain, too fiddly to hack twice.

Iron Armour doesn't have room for a Signum, so I made one using a piece from the Aegis Defence line atop a Banner, the Sergeant has the new Boarding Marine helmet with the crest and a converted powersword arm. Also the Missile Magazine backpack needed some filing down of the MKIII backpack to fit and finally, a cut and paste a MKVII missile launcher onto a MKIII arm. I'm only doing this stage once as the newer missile launcher was a pain to convert.

Will post squad when finished. These all have Missile Launchers, the 2nd Dev Sqd will have MM and Plasma Cannons ('cos I love them!)

Aegis Defence Line - Terrain

Finally did some more terrain. Based and undercoated 2 more sections of line too, did a test piece with this set to see if the colour scheme looked okay. I think it does. I used Halfords Car Spray 'Volvo Grey' as a basecoat similar to GW's Charadon Granite. Then a drybrush of Catachan Green. Drybrush of boltgun metal on raised spars and base done the same as all my others. Tutorial here.

A few more to do once I buy another Aegis Defence Line for the quad Autocannon barrels (another rifleman dread coming up!)

Relictors Master of the Forge Techmarine with Conversion Beamer

Hi all, I have finished my not so secret 'mystery' project posted a few days back. It was indeed a Master of the Forge on bike with Conversion Beamer. The Master is suitably garbed in a MK6 Artificer Armour with big shiney Gold Shifter as a badge of Office (!), painted the same as my other Techmarine, red with grey head and arms. I used a number of pieces for this mini. A rogue trader Conversion Beamer from the Eighties, an Attack Bike (duh!), a rogue trader Techmarine Rider from a jet bike and a Servo Arm from an early Techmarine (plus a few hacked off gubbins from the techmarine - I was going to use his lower legs but failed, so he was in for the chop).The front searchlight scanner thing is from the Aegis defence line and the power cables to the gun and the plasma charge thing-y on the rear fender are from a lascannon sponson. The power pack on the side car is from a Sentinel kit and finally, a Servo Skull from the Devastators kit. I took the time to repace the hub of the sidecar whell with a Mechanicus symbol as well as paint the fuel tank skull motifs half and half like the Mech symbol too. The front fender is a tranfer which I then Mech'ed up in a similar way.Here's a close up of the Old Skool early, pre-space crusade Rogue Trader Conversion Beamer itself (edit: Very similar to Rogue Trader Heavy Plasma Gun but with 'ears'!) and the last pic shows the bits...Hope you like. I googled beforehand and nothing really showed up save a single bike rider version, but I think a Conversion Beamer warrants a side car to dish out all that 72" St10, AP 1 Blast fun!!! Watch out Pornstarjedi's Landraiders...

Relictors Sternguard #3 Re-Armed w/ Combi-Melta

Well, since I bought the FW Limited Edition Boarding MKIII Marine, I've been wondering who should get his spare Combi-Melta? Then looking at the rules for Sternguard and what the metal marines are armed with, only one has a Combi-Melta whilst the others all have Special Issue Ammunition Bolters. So...

A quick snip here and a snap apart there of one of my home built Sternguard Bolters and I've re-armed the robed marine #3 I made earlier (here) to hold the Combi-Melta, now at least two of the squad when painted will have Combi-Melta's. Watch out tanks!

Simple Vehicle Storm Bolter Conversion

If you play SM and you have either some old Vindicators or play three to get an Apoc Linebreaker Squadron, you may not have modelled your storm bolters due to the lack in early kits or late addition to Codex or like me you've modelled a Command Frame Accessory? Maybe you want an additional Storm Bolter for those 'Destroyed Weapon' results?

Maybe it's only me, however, this is a simple storm bolter conversion using the SM Scout Bike Twin Linked Bolters ('cos you did max out on Astartes Grenade Launchers didn't you!). Also works with normal SM Bike Twin Linked Bolters if you are not fielding Scout Bikers but then you lose the cool scope gubbins.

As above, file any rivet detail from the inside of the two guns and stick together making sure they are correctly aligned. Next, file a slightly steeper angle on the magazine to fit the front sloping armour of the said Vindicator/Rhino/Razorback/Predator. Glue when painted for ease, and done. Simples.

This is a list I've used against Siph, and it worked ok, its a definite jugular killing force, aimed to kill first, and think about objectives later. The 2 land raiders are full with 2 terminator squads, plus Marneus Calgar, who is without doubt, one of the most powerful characters in the game. I will also have 2 drop pods, one with a full tactical squad, and the second with an Ironclad. I am using the IA dreadnought drop pod rules, thus he can charge into combat on the turn he arrives. The final unit is another tactical squad which will sit pretty at the back, with the task of taking objectives. (2 combat squads)

Blog Wars 2011 - Relictors List

So in the spirit of BlogWars and it being a fun event, I have posted my list below for everyone to see. It's just a vanilla marine list with the Chaplain and Termies as the "hammer unit", the Chaplain for Liturgies of Battle and Digital Weapons and I've not used him since painting recently!

Tigurius as a "thorn-in-your-side unit" with the Sternguard i reckon, not sold on this yet, some playtesting may have been useful - oh well, some Psychic badass in a drop pod with AP3 hot shot ammo spewing Sternguard to take out objective holding troops, 3 powers per turn too, to survive once arrived in first turn Drop Pod assault.

Combat squad the troops to give 4 scoring units if it's about objectives. And a rhino for cover or to eat up the distance.

Assault Squad and Attack Bike as some mobile hitters, be it tanks or transports. I think I lack some half decent anti-tank so might suffer against IG however I haven't painted any Devestators yet so the two Multi-Meltas, two Melta and PowerFist will have to do.

The Rifleman is fun and haven't used him yet so hopefully he can dish out some reliable Anti-Transport fire with those 4 twin linked S7 Autocannon shots! Nice Dakka.

I sent off this list before I converted my Combi-Melta's so they have not been included, doh!

Hi all – I have submitted my Blog Wars list, so thought I would post it up here. Like other bloggers who have already posted their final lists; I’m not worried about anyone using it to their advantage – it’s a friendly tournament and I fully intend to play for fun.

As you can see – I have gone for a balanced friendly list rather than competitive (mainly because I’m not that sort of player and also because I don’t have the models to make a 3 Tervigon list). Obviously the tactics will be like any other Nid game – get stuck in as soon as possible.

I found coming up with the list pretty difficult, as I normally play at 2000+pts and never include a Special Character/Unique.

I have chosen to take the Doom of Malantai because it will complement my list and style of play the most. The other option was the Swarmlord but I didn’t want to tailor the entire list around a Deathstar (I imagine a lot of people will have to make similar choices).

I have managed to get one test game against a competitive IG list, based on the tournament rules…

I lost – but it was a good learning exercise and I found out that I can’t cope with popping 7 tanks at the same time effectively. This was also the 5^th game in a row where my Tervigon rolled doubles on the first turn and produced less than 7 Gaunts in the game – so surely that means it should be producing 50+ in the next few games right???

Overall, I don’t think I will do very well against the predominantly MEQ/IG line-up, but I will hopefully be able to deal out a few solid punches.

Oh – and with 5 weeknights left, the to-do list currently stands at:

Build and paint 2 Venomthropes,
Finish 14 horms/terms (they are 75% done),
Base about 30 models,
Paint 20 spare terms to the best possible standard.

Simple Combi-Melta Conversion

I was checking out the competition for the UK BlogWars 2011, when I noticed in the back catalogue of Andy-bG's Iron Wolves Blog a simple and effective Combi-Melta Conversion tutorial found here.
I was having trouble bidding on e-bay for some Combi-Melta's for my Sergeants, lord knows why someone would pay over £3+pp for just one, however, I needed some to arm up some of my Sternguard and Scout Sergeant and Tactical Sergeants to give Pornstarjedi's Landraider Spam list, which rolled me over a few weeks back, a little more to think about - until I paint up my Devastator's I need a little more mobile anti AV14 tank firepower!
I have used the spare bolt pistols that came in the ForgeWorld Space Marine Character Upgrade pack (the one with the Bionic goodies) and some Chaos Bolt Pistols, 'cos the Relictors like that spikey stuff (and as Andy bG says, the common bolt pistol is too small). Just follow the link to the tutorial, a simple shaving off detail and cuts and done.

This should save me a few quid and give me some mobile anti-armour in my Troops sections. Cheers Andy-bG!

Relictors Bike Squad Sergeant

Here is the completed Sergeant for my forthcoming Relictors Bike Squad. The rest of the squad shouldn't take as long now I know whats being painted and where. And the rest are standard marines except the plasma gunner (love the old metal torso with hip resting Plasma Gun).I am going to keep the rest of the squad consistent when it comes to bike markings, buttons, etc. Only the Sergeant has the fancy golden feathered fairing and skull headlamp.This last photo I like to think is the last thing the enemies of the Emperor will see before their heads leave their bodies...The blade is painted Regal Blue with two washes of Badab Black to give a rich dark dark blue base (Necron Abyss would suffice - but the washes give you a progressive darker colour toward the hilt if left upright to dry and pool), followed by dry brush edge highlight in Regal Blue, Hawk Turquoise and 50:50 Skull White:Hawk Turquoise getting progressively toward the tip of the blade.

Busy Weekend

Wow – it just goes to show how productive you can be when you are up against it. The missus was out for most of this weekend so I took the opportunity to make some headway on the Blog Wars to-do list.

After 14hours on Saturday and 7 hours on Sunday of purchasing / converting / painting, the to-do list looks like this:

Buy 2 Venomthropes - bought

Buy 1 Hive Guard – bought and painted

Convert/build Mycetic Spore – bought and painted

Convert/build Doom of Malentai – converted and painted

1 Trygon – painted

1 Carnifex (and maybe convert it at the same time) – converted and painted

7 Termagaunts – about 50% done

20 spare Termagaunts (for the Tervigon) – avoiding at all costs

All the multi-wound creatures are now finished (until the Venomthropes turn up) so now I am just left with about 30-odd gaunts to get stuck into. I have 9 weeknights left to do this, so I think I need to finish all the gaunts that are going to start on the board in batches of 7 per night. I will probably take the 20 “spare” Termagaunts to a 3 colour minimum (and finished if possible).

FYI – I need to build in some redundancy as this weekend I will be throwing myself down some Welsh mountains on this:

Hi Guys – having seen that Siph and Pornstar both have their Blog Wars tickets, I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to join them back in the hometown, so now it looks like the whole Weemen cast will be there.

I sat down last night with the codex and drew up the 1750pts list I will probably be taking (which I’ll post up on here shortly) and what needs to be done to get the list into tourney ready….

I’m going to try to post every couple of days up to the event (because I have LOADS to do).

Relictors Terminator Chaplain with Banner

I completed my Terminator Chaplain with Banner and my first bit of freehand on the Banner itself. Not bad I thought for the first attempt, I was pleased with the script on the banner but less so with the skull itself, but it gets it's point across.

Think this is a Blood Angel Banner so I removed the blood drop from the chain and added a suitable skull and censer. Still need to dull coat it so the washes on the banner look a little shiney. Thoughts or tips please...

Relictors Bike Squad - Sergeant WIP

I am working slowly on a Bike Squad to accompany my Attack Bike and here is the Sergeant's ride. I have used the fairing from a Chaplain's bike to mark him out from the rest of the squad (his power sword should do a good job of that too).

I intend to do 5 bikes at first, then maybe adding a further 3 later to a maximum squad of 8 plus Attack Bike (10 marines).

The other bikes are still at undercoat stage and I am curently working on the Sergeant himself. The other bases are done though, so they all matched perfectly.

Relictors Terminator Chaplain

This is the newest addition to the growing Relictor Army. He is not yet finished as I am currently trying my best to freehand a banner but with very limited success. Must try to continue with some projects that are actually on my to-do list rather than nice to have stuff. I promise myself I will finish a Battle Company before starting a Grey Knights strike force... but the Relictors need more shiney toys too.
I have two squads of Scout bikes, 3 Landraiders, several drop pods, plus all the gear on the to do list before I consider the Relictors done.

Reaver Mishap

Well, while Pornstarjedi makes his Reaver rise from the ashes, mine (Honorum) had a nasty fall and has smashed into 15-20 pieces! He was loose at the waist and something glued failed making his top half topple over and smash onto the floor - a drop of about 3 feet onto carpet so the paintjob survived but the joints didn't from the shock damage.

Pics to follow when I've picked myself back up...

He needed gluing and pinning a bit more anyway, this I guess just saves me from pulling him apart. I may have to sacrifice the inside paintjob if I intend to carry-on gaming with him as there are too many parts of the Adamantium Shell that need to be loose in order to get to the fleshy insides... or a massive magnetic bonanza. We'll see.

The Reaver is dead... long live the 2 Reavers (coming soon).

Reaver Titan update / sticky situation for PornStarJedi

Hi, just a quick update- I spent the weekend dry building, and eventually gluing together parts of the Reaver (photos to follow in next post) however a minor, potentially major incident occurred when the end of the super glue exploded, resulting in my hands covered in the stuff. I wouldn't of minded, but this was the 'world's strongest glue ever' resistant to water, soap, and pretty much everything else known to man. I scrubbed my hands with a scrubbing brush for almost an hour with no real results- just sore hands! it was getting to the point of having to go to my local A+E department when... Thankfully a cure was found by my wife to elevate the sticky situation, nail polish- and after an hour of rubbing, the stickiness abated, as well as many layers of skin!

Super glue- its out to get you!!
