Titan WIP - another coming soon

Hello Avid readers,

My third titan is on the production line, again by artist Richard Gray of RichardGray Creations, this will match the Reaver 'Honorum' and Warhound 'Canis Bellum'. It will be another Warhound but with twin Turbo-Lasers for the 'D' destroyer status! Nice.

With 'Canis Praetor' on the way, I can make an Apoc Formation with all three - any hits from the two warhounds will enable the Reaver to re-roll some goodness when targeting the same. Can't remember the finer details, lets just say - it hurts lots, simulating the Hunting Pack idea behind the Warhound, softening up the enemy before the big daddy titans finish them off.

Will post pics when received...

And some pretty pics:

I have literally just seen the pics, but my initial thoughts are:

  • the Flyrant looks great,
  • The Tervigon looks nice and big!
  • I’m not sold on the Tyannofex gun – but it looks like a nice kit,
  • Swarmlord looks a bit…’spesh in pictures (but its not a clear shot)
  • Could that be the Red Terror in the back right? It might be a Trygon at a weird angle…

Anyway – cant wait for the next White Dwarf issue and 3rd March (when I will be extremely poor)!

A Few ‘Nids (Pic Heavy)

Judging from the number of completed model posts I have up on here, you would assume that I have only finished about 6 models in my ‘Nid army since I started playing 40K again back in August 2010… The truth is, I have now got over 3000pts of painted ‘Nids and around another 1000pts still to go (this could drastically increase if the rumours of a ‘Nid 2nd wave in March are true). The problem is that I am just crap at getting round to taking photos.

I primarily put this down to Blog Wars and the fact that I’ve had to paint up nearly 1000pts of models in 3 weeks before both tournaments and have been burned out after and ended up packing the models away for a month or two (and subsequently forget to take any pics).

So I thought I would post a few pics of some of the bigger pieces in my army:

First up the Trygon. I painted this about 9 months ago so my painting has improved a bit in the time. I need another one or two of these and although the model is nice, I don’t want three identical versions, so expect to see some conversions soon.

Next up we have my 2nd Tervigon, which I converted about 6 months ago. I really think my converting and painting has started to develop since I made my first one.

And finally we have the Swarmlord that you may have seen unpainted in previous posts about 3 months ago. I really like this guy; loads of work went into the conversion and it has resulted in a pretty unique model. The Rippers on the base are magnetised to act as wound counters.

WIP- Daemons

Hi all, firstly apologies for not posting anything recently- I've had a crazy few months with work and haven't had much in the way of spare time- however I have got a few snaps of things that I have been working on over the last few months.

Firstly I have continued on my daemon prince- I decided to opte for wings, as well as the 'marine' armour. I'm really happy with the look of the model, and the red skin- several washes and highlights of various reds... (oh how I miss my ultramarine blue!)

Second up is the daemon prince Mamon from forgeworld, again I used several green's, each one lighter than the next, in between each layer was a wash, again the overall look is almost what I wanted- especially the contrasting nurglings!

Both of these will be worked on further (I've just bought a free standing light/magnifing unit) so hopefully I'll have completed images to show next time.

Warmachine – Khador Destroyer

Here we have the first Warmachine mini that I painted (I’ve been posting them in the wrong order…) – a Khador Destroyer.

I have been building up my plastic warjacks with magnets so I can make different ‘jack variations and remove bits when they are damaged in a game. This guy has his arms and head magnetised.

The Destroyer got chosen as a test model because I have found ranged ‘jacks less effective than dedicated melee monsters like Beast ’09 and Juggernaught’s.

It was the first time painting something this size that doesn’t have scything talons, so I used it to practice some techniques I was planning on using across the army as a theme – mainly edge highlights and a clean/simple finish.

The colour scheme is as follows:

Armour – White undercoat followed by a coat of Blood Red and then Red Gore. Edges/details are then highlighted with Bleached Bone. It is finally washed heavily with Baal Red.

Metals – Boltgun Metal/Shining Gold with Mithril Silver highlights. All metallics are then washed with Devlan Mud.

It’s pretty basic, but my thinking is that if I can get the basics of the colour scheme nailed, I can then start playing around with damage and weathering effects later on. I'm now working on a Juggernaught and hope to be able to make it a bit more interesting than the Destroyer.
